The excitement that filled him with promises of adventure, of exploration and of new discoveries pumped through his veins. The vessel had only just gotten within site of the island in front of them less than a half an hour ago. Before it had started as a little dot and had grown to be gradually larger and larger. The rate of growth of the island had been pretty steady until at last, finally, it was within their easy grasp.
The Shooting Star bounced slightly up and down from the waves as it came closer to the Island. Kane was at the helm responsibly despite his eagerness; giving Yuuki a break from navigation responsibilities. Of course, he would probably take the log pose back afterward so that he could make sure that it reset properly for the next Island.
Shielding his eyes with his hand, Kane realized that he probably needed a pair of sunglasses. The glare from the sun was causing him to squint a lot. Since he had been at the helm most of the time lately his skin had gotten a tad darker in tone. Luckily he was the type that suntanned and didn't burn easily. Perhaps it was also attributable to his fruits powers. The heat didn't get to him at all and he wasn't even sweating from standing there or sitting nearby in the direct sun for hours.
"Land guys!" he called, not sure if anyone was really awake yet. Though the sun was already beating down quite heavily it was only around 10 in the morning.
The Shooting Star circled around the Island slowly as he searched for a docking point. Luckily there was a small little docking station that he came across and the small vessel fit. On the other side were tied a few boats; all elaborately designed. Clearly the people on this Island appreciated the art of ship building. On either side of the docking area stretched bright white sandy beaches.
Once the boat was tied up securely, Kane looked around fully at the Island. A small port area was nearby and a few people were actually there walking back and forth from odd looking houses and inns. Others were carting around tools and supplies and even lumber to a working station. Further in he could see a path that took people into the forest area where the developments rose and actually were built above into the forest though he couldn't see much of it from his vantage point.
"This seems like a pretty nice place! I expected the Grand Line to be a little bit more startling than this but it's a lot like East Blue was," commented Kane out loud though he wasn't aware if there was anyone nearby to hear it. Figuring that at least one or two of the members of the Hoshi pirates would stay on board simply because a lot of them were probably still exhausted from their round with the Dealers, Kane started into the port area and walked past a group of men that were working on a vessel.
Kane paused in his step and backed up. The boat was a lot larger than the Shooting Star was. Right now it was just at it's framework level but it was about double what their vessel was in height and width.
One of the Shipwrights paused in their work and glanced over at him. At first he seemed to be glaring but then his face broke out into a smile as he wiped the sweat from his dark face with one overly calloused hand.
"Oi, kid, aren't yah that new rookie? Been seein' pictures of a pirate that looks a lot like you. Captain of that... What, Yoshi pirates?"
"Hoshi pirates," Kane corrected but with a grin. This guy had heard of his crew? They were already known about in the Grand Line?
"Yeah, heard you guys made a ruckus at Roguetown. 'Course that's where a lot of crews like to cause a fuss at ever since Smoker left. Heard there were some tough new Marines stationed there though that you guys tangled with. Pretty brave."
"Haha, nah, it was nothing," Kane said dismissively; mostly since he didn't consider those Marines to have been the problem. That time it had been that crazy robot that had attacked them... But then again, hadn't that been originally sent by the Marines? "Hey, by the way, what type of ship is that that you're building?"
"This 'ere? This is a Baroque ship, kid! Very quick vessel. Already got us a buyer for it though so sorry if you were getting your hopes up."
Kane laughed and shook his head no though he did frown slightly at the mention of the buyer. "Is there a regular shop around here that sells sunglasses?"
"Yeah, just up the road and to your left. Have fun in town. Everyone here is pretty much fine with pirates like yourself because they help keep us all employed," called the Shipwright before he went back to hammering something.
"Thanks!" Kane said back before he started for the shop. His mind went back to the ship for a little while though. If they ended up with anymore nakama in the crew they were going to need a bigger place for them all to live...
