To Kyou’s surprise the monkey-man didn’t only let him take a photo but also posed for it. It seemed rude to say that he hadn’t intended to take that many pictures so he just took them to keep the peace. Since he came prepared and had a spare film in his bag this would cause no problems or at least less than interrupting the man who seemed so absorbed in his posing. Maybe tourists around here often asked for pictures to take and his request wasn’t as odd as he thought it was? The monkey-man even did the monkey classical “hear no evil see no evil” for him and Kyou found himself surprisingly good-humored by it. That didn’t show on his face though. There weren’t many expressions that showed on his face these days. For years now his expression was mostly frozen into a perpetual frown that was deeper at times but impossible to read for anyone who didn’t knew him better.
While he was still considering how to best tell the man that he had to go on and how to ask him for directions without angering him unintentionally, for one never knew what would set others off, the man stopped by himself. Rain was approaching in the distance and the man didn’t wanted to get wet. Why were people so afraid of getting wet? Kyou wondered. It was only water and water wasn’t normally poisonous or acid. It was true that in a cold climatic land like this getting wet could be dangerous, but as long as one was wearing the proper clothes this thing shouldn’t be a problem. People really made too much fuss about it.
The monkey-man made a sudden motion and Kyou tensed up in case this was an attack on him, but the guy only smacked himself. Now Kyou started to notice the midges that were buzzing around them. They were small annoyances, but not dangerous neither unless this islands kind was specially aggressive?
His had got grabbed and Kyou found himself running with the guy.
Great!
Just what did he get himself into?
The day had shown to be very nice to Kyou’s standards so far which probably meant that trouble was probably lurking ahead. Or maybe it would wait for him to come back? Wherever he went trouble was never far and if it hadn’t shown itself then that was only to give him a false sense of security. He knew his luck, he really did.
The Crystal ruins were beautiful but scary. Somehow it made Kyou feeling queasy. The floor was crystalline and one could see through it. Echoes were strangely sounding like in all caves but that didn’t help making him feel better.
Outside it was raining and the wind blew some drops into the entrance where they were standing, yet Kyou didn’t move.
“Thank you. I’ll stay here.” He told the monkey-man. There was no way that he would go in farther than that. Staying here and looking outside was better than going in, even if that meant that he had to face some wind.
On the ground in front of the entrance ne noticed something strange. The rain hadn’t yet washed it away. “Are that drag marks?” he wondered aloud.
