Kaku was perplexed by his companion’s rather dubious nature. He’d expected his gesture to inspire the black suited man with that ever precocious attitude to loosen up, but instead the uptight ex-pirate simply withdrew further into his own nature. Landing with an audible thud that sent birds squawking their protests as they took flight into the darkening sky, the assassin realized that Kuro had either been left behind or gone ahead. In fact he was now at the point where the hill leveled on from its ascending slant.
“I may have overdone…goodness gracious” he sighed readjusted his cap firmly atop his head remembering the wind that had nearly taken his cherished headgear away from him earlier.
Now alone, the silence seemed boring and unfulfilled. Noises that would have made a saner man cringe fearfully simply served to pique the square nosed man’s curiosity though he adhered to the orders given to him. Brushing aside stubborn branches of leaves and bushes he began to get the sense that he was being “watched”, as if there was a pair of eyes trained upon his every movement through the forest. This sensation sent a tingling prickle down his spine, but his excited smile hid most of the uncertainly that pulled at his usually unshakable confidence. There was no need to be afraid, he was after all, a man who’s surpassed the realm of human; he was superhuman, surely nothing could strike down a man that had risen to this height of evolution.
At this thought his face darkened slightly despite the faint glow of dimming sun rays that peered through the canopy of the forest; someone had struck him down, someone had struck the entire organization of CP9 down. “Mugiwaras…” , the name slid through his mind like a sleek dagger, pulling the corners of his mouth into a tight frown as recollected memories replayed the spectacular defeat at the hands of some “pirate scum”.
His retreat into his thoughts was short lived as something furry flashed past him with amazing speed. The hurtling flesh zoomed with movement more adroit than a human eye could perceive, but…Kaku certainly wasn’t just some man. As the wild blur altered its course to directly towards him his own image flashed away instantly leaving only a cloud of disheveled dirt as a telltale sign that someone had been there.
“SORU”
Now the man was standing in a clearing where the trees gave way to small circular space devoid of bushes or tree limbs; this newfound room to fight could serve as either a disadvantage or a blessing, all depending on whether his opponent was dangerous in open space or not. Remembering how well it moved despite the numerous obstacles in its path “Yamakaze” Kaku prepared himself for some much needed…exercise,
“If you’re the natives that Lucci-san was talking about,” he began coolly, that ever playful smile brightening his tan features, “…then he won’t mind if I play with you a little bit-jajajajajaja~” his laughter rung through the bushes; there was no need to call for help.
If anything the hulking creature crawling closer through the foliage was going to be in need of dire help. Well…that was if it ever got the chance to scream that was.
