Even right after he had dropped the ladder, Kane began to perceive a change in the atmosphere. He stood up straighter again and looked upward, red short hair ruffling in the slight breeze. All around the sky was becoming much more cloudy. When he went to look down to see if the person in the boat was boarding or not, he realized that he couldn't see well enough to tell. He would just have to have faith that the person wouldn't want to keep drifting out to sea and would help themselves.
In his hand, the magnet came to life again. Kane held it up as it began to reveal a poem. He immediately wished that he had something to jot the words down with. He walked over closer to David, hoping that he would be able to remember anything that he forgot if the words were something valuable that they needed to find Mikan.
"Catastrophes that ends in grief..." started Kane, reading the first line. Immediately, the next line began to scroll and he read that as well out loud. As he read, he realized that it was, in fact, a poem. When he finished reading it out loud, he tilted his head slightly. What did it all mean exactly?
Just then the world was cast into darkness around them. Kane blinked and turned but whichever way he looked he couldn't make out much of anything. A moment later the darkness lifted and, in front of them, an island covered with white structures appeared. Even the water seemed to have changed white.
"Whoa, what's going on here?" Kane questioned, puzzled and unsure if what they could be seeing was really real.
He snapped out of his awestruck state, however, when someone began shouting nearby. He turned, looked at the light brown haired girl that was shouting, and blinked in perplexion. Then it dawned on him; this was the girl that had been in the rowboat they had pulled up to.
"Whoa, whoa, easy now," Kane said, moving his hands up and down in an attempt to sooth the girl. His blue eyes shifted to the side as Shisha exited, in full gear, from below deck. Kane would normally be glad to see her but, somehow, he was sure that her sudden appearance wasn't going to help the girl's panicked state.
"My name is Kane, and this is my crew. We just found you on that rowboat down there and wanted to make sure you were okay. Actually, I'm not sure exactly where we are either, but we're trying to track down a friend of ours that was kidnapped," he explained to the girl nicely. "If you want you can wait on our ship until after we rescue her and then we'll sail you to wherever you were planning on going?"
