Mission #28: The World is Ours

The air was still in the market town. The sun was high and the towns sprite was low. Everyone seemed to be in a rut. You could almost taste the misery throughout the town. A few pieces of trash float around making the town seem that much more deserted. Otto had never been here before but he figured it was a good place to start since he was looking for a pirate. He walks along the street asking random rif raf have they seen this man holding a wanted poster of the man known as "the laughing killer" most of the people just shrugged him off not saying a word so Otto just kept it moving. Still asking mostly everyone he saw along the was he stopped at the bar to ask around the and get a drink.

Otto walks in slowly, the bar is the most lively place in this whole town, all the heads turn toward him for a moment then back to their business. He walks up to the bar top man this is a lively bunch he thought to himself as he signals for the bartender. "Lemme get a a double of that spanish rum" he asks while placing his book bag on the bar stool next to him. He goes into his bag to get the money and the poster. "Heres what I owe ya and um... have you seen this man?" he shows this poster to the bartender in hopes the the man was in here before

"what are ya some sort of bounty hunter cuz if ya are I don't think this is the place for you bud" Says the bartender as he looks at the poster. " No I'm just another pirate who has a bone to pick I'm not a hunter" Otto replies as he takes a swig of his drink. " So have you seen him?" The bartender doesn't say anything just makes a hand juster as if he was properly persuaded he might say something.Everyone has greed in there heart like he'd get a dime from me Otto thinks to him self as he passes on the bartenders offer and takes that as a sign that he knew something and was in the right place. He waves good bye and walks out the bar to continue his search. As he leaves the bartender yells out to him "Even if ya do find em whats a Rookie like you gonna do? HAHAhaha!"

The Pirate Market: A legendary, almost mythical land, whose location seemed to only pass from one high-seas-plunderer to another by word of mouth and maybe the occasional 'Eh, S'not too far from dis blue right here.' Jun Lokuan had caught wind of the magical place while working a job aboard the ship of an illiterate, though good-natured, pirate crew who wanted certain government people to know how they felt about bounties, what they did to deserve one, and 'why wasn't there a bounty on them yet?' The travelling scribe couldn't quite understand what the appeal of having people hunting your head was... But pirates will be pirates, and so long as they have the beri to pay, then he had the pens to write.

Unfortunately, the rather rambly letters previously mentioned actually comprised the last few sheets of paper out of his latest ream, and without paper there would be no jobs. As luck would have it though, the illiterate crew was willing to drop off their newest, perhaps smartest, friend off at the Market on their way past to do... something or other. Ravage ships and Pillage women, they said, but Jun took that at face value while stepping off the ship and onto the harbor. Not quite a tearful good bye, but a good bye none the less.

On the writer's mind while he waltzed into the market was... well, he wasn't really a pirate, but that shouldn't be a problem right? Not like the youngest Lokuan was a marine either. And if you flash enough beri around, anybody should be willing to hand over a few blank sheets of something capable of holding a scribble or two. Toilet paper even! He'd done worse... Clean toilet paper though, mind you.

While thoughts of a stained roll drifted through his cringing head though, it finally dawned upon Jun that these streets were far from magical. "Better than a ghost town, but it's no city either," he reflected to himself quietly, watching a storekeep within eyeshot packing his wares away with a scowl. All those stories of grubby-handed commerce alongside immense hustle and bustle... Where did it go? Had it been long? And most importantly... Was there a story to tell?

The scribe eyed another young man exiting a busy tavern, trying to discern if he was friendly, hostile or other. Without any words to rely on though, it was hard going... Might as well throw some out there then, right?

Jun approached Otto calmly, holding a hand up in the international greeting. "Excuse me, but... Where am I? This is the Market, right?"

Otto pauses as he walks down the street. He sees the man walking up to him asking him if this was the market. "Yea whats left of it"He takes a quick look around at the dead town. " It used to be a lot more... Popin around here." Otto says as he walks along side Jun. He wasn't sure if he could trust Jun yet but for the time being he didn't seem dangerous so he would accompany him around town. He figured that walking with another person might instill fear in some of the shopkeepers and they'll give up some information.

"So what are you doin around here you don't seem like a pirate" Otto asks Jun as they walk into another shop. Jun walked around the shop as if he were looking for something but did not answer the question. Otto just went about his business and walked up to the shop owner. He slaps the poster on the table " Hay Osan! you seen this guy?" he asks with an attitude. But no response from this one either. He seemed to be on a wild goose chase with no good leads. He looks towards Jun who was still just looking around and says "So you find whatever it is your looking for?"
