Mission #5: Storming the Ruins

A hooded figure walked along the shore looking at his boat now in pieces. Night was starting to fall and the moon was visible among the many clouds in the sky. The massive storm surrounding the island caught him off guard. Calling it a storm was a understatement at the least. The typhoon nearly killed him all together. Gene was examining his surroundings. Not much was too be seen just some old ruins. Gene's cyborg arm needed to dry because it was soaked during the storm. There were a few other people here to Gene noticed as he was drying himself off.

Walking toward one of them he asked, "Hello do you have a ship I could ride on. You see my boat crashed here on accident and I have no interest being here." Waiting for the person to turn around he made note of the people here. There seems to be five including myself. He hoped there was a navigator among one of these people or he would never be leaving here. Then again the unique conditions of this island could provide a chance for a rare plant to grow here. Gene thought as he was waiting for a response.

Eva was on a small boat, the cruise liners of earlier were boring her. She had "borrowed" it from someone a while ago. As she lay back on the boat the rocking of the boat put her to sleep.

Then "CRASH, BUM BUM BUM, CRASH" Eva jolted awake, the ground below her didn't feel like wood. It was soft . . . and moving? She rolled on her back there was sand. She jolted up scanning around her, she seemed to be on an island. Around her were the remains of her boat. While searching the main hull of the boat she founds her iron fan still intact. Her clothes seemed to have disappeared other than those on her body which were soaked. After a closer look she noticed that there were some four more individuals around her.

We'll probably have to work together to get out of here . . . . I wonder if any of them have an intact boat. she thought. Then one of the individuals who was hooded had approached her and started talking. He brought up similar thoughts as to her. Eva answered "Sorry I don't have a boat, mine was destroyed by the storm as well, you can try asking someone else. Don't worry I have no interest in being here either. But I'm going to make the most of it and find some shelter and food."

She noticed some banana trees a bit further inland. She walked over there.

Aoi stood there as the boat crashed and broke apart realizing that she was also stranded with no boat and now four other that need help as well, luckily for her the bag she carried didn't wash away with her boat. Aoi took a few paces between her broken boat and where she was standing at previously before watching Eva go toward the banana trees. Aoi took one last good look at the moon and then motioned to her companion Fenrir and going toward Eva with Fenrir following as well.

"Hello," Aoi said in a cheerful voice, "Hard time with you boat huh?" Aoi questioned as Fenrir lied next to the tree keeping a close watch on both Eva and Aoi.

After a bit Aoi walked toward Fenrir and sat next to him and looked toward Eva then to what little view of the moon she could get. As she looked at the moon ah wondered why ...Fenrir wasn't howling like normal... and then she looked at Fenrir before thinking about it some more, but couldn't find a definite reason as to why Fenrir wasn't howling so she gave up thinking about it then fixed her gaze at Eva.

It had been an unreasonably harsh storm and the small raft upon which Jack had been drifting upon looking for fights on the sea had been all, but destroyed with him clingingly angrily onto it as the waves thrashed him about. Once the storm subsided and Jack had been washed upon an unknown shore he struggled to find some materials to rebuild the raft, but quickly found that it would be difficult to navigate upon this island without help. In the distance he saw a snaking black tower of smoke indicating that there were other people that were on the island. Cursing his luck, the young man angrily walked in the direction of the smoke hoping to find some way to get off the island. When he had reached the clearing the tattered pirate observed that there were four individuals whom all seemed to be in the same predicament as himself and he groaned,

“Oh man…you gotta be kidding me. I was looking for help not a bunch would be bums…” he crowed disappointedly. His hopes of finding someone to help him get off the island was pretty much in the dumps as he turned towards the island horizon and caught sight of the looming shadows of ruins in the distance,

“What the hell is this island anyway?” he asked no one in particular as he peered with squinted eyes into the darkness trying to gather any details about the massive structure in the distance.

Genna sat on the beach, practically ignoring everyone around her, her attention solely placed on the stormy seas around her. Even as the events that lead to this moment played in her head over and over again, she still couldnt believe how she put herself in such a mess. If SOMEBODY didn't decide to have a JOYRIDE with her and Yuuki's BOAT then maybe she wouldn't be on this island without Yuuki. The worst part of it all was that somebody happened to be on this island too enjoying herself as the boat lay splintered on the shoreline.

Genna arrived on the island no diferently. After realizing that the boat had disapeared once reaching the docks of the previous island, she herself 'borrowed' someone's boat, promising to give it back once she caught the theif of her own. Thinking she would be back soon, she didn't even leave a message for her friend. Little did she know that once her boat came into sight, she would get caught up in a storm and crash into the island. Oddly, the thief landed on the island not too long after her, leaving her to stare at the remains of the two boats. So much for returning it.

Everyone else looked to have similar stories too. Though, it appeared to Genna that there was more splintered remains of boats than there were people. What that meant, Genna never wanted to know. Yet, that shouldn't be the worst of her worries now. She had two main things to worry about right now. One was the cold that nipped at her where her shoulder ended and mechanical arms began. And two, she thought, shivering at the mere thought of it, mechanics!

She looked around with a distraught gaze, wondering if she could depict the mechanics away from the group of people so that she may hide from them, pulling her soaked trench coat further over her mechanical arms. She really had no worries of rust since it was made from a specific alloy that wasn't effected by the process of oxidation.

Her search was haulted when a voice suddenly spoke up behind her making her jump almost 10 feet in the air and turn around, fearing it to be a mechanic. Instead it only turned out to be another washed up person like themselves, but she still made sure her trench coat was surely covering her metallic limbs anyways. Yet, a bit belatedly, she realized what he just called them and anger rose in her.

"I'm no bum!" she snapped at him. Talking for the first time since she arrived there.

As the girl she was talking to left walking off towards the banana tree Gene decided he would make a fire to dry off. He went off to gather some dead brown leaves and sticks. While doing this task he notices a small night colored flower. Disregarding it Gen places what he found on the the sands of the beach. With his left hand he reach into his cloak pulling out two vials. One containing a clear white and viscus fluid, and the other holding black powder.

The sticks he gathered as fuel were soaking wet, but it mattered not the fires he made laughed at water even use it to grow. Pouring out some of the black powder into the clear liquid he sat down to let them mix for a minute before pouring the solution onto the leaves and branches. Once he did the two chemicals started smoking and lighting some of the sticks on fire until Gene had a small campfire lit. Tossing the rest of the wood in saving a log upon which he sat on. While he was drying off Gene's mind traveled to the strange plant he saw. Gene knew he saw it from somewhere before, but the exact place eluded him.

Eva walked up to the banana tree. Looking up, the bananas seemed to be at least 6 feet higher than she stood. In a jump she decreased that distance to a good 3 feet. But she knew that for her, this task was impossible.

Eva took 10 steps backwards and then pulled out her fan. Spinning to create some momentum she released the fan at the moment that felt right. The fan bolted forward and cut the banana bunch right off the tree. Running to keep up with the bunch, Eva dived for it and caught the banana's before the ground. Dusting herself off she went in search of her fan which she found only a little farther inland.

As she walked back she noticed a bent over coconut tree. Knocking down a few coconuts she continued to pull her banana bunch and 3 coconuts back toward the group. Peeling a banana she was suddenly confronted by another girl. After hearing the question, Eva answered "Yeah, well the wind blows and the seas carry me wherever they wish. Maybe this is just part of the master plan of nature. I'll just make do with it. " She attempted a small smile and then walked past the girl.

Laying down on the beach she proceeded to eat her banana, it was excellent. (THE END OMG JKJKJK)

Aoi watched as the woman walked back to the beach then went back to looking around the area for anything to eat, but saw nothing but bananas and the fallen coconut tree. Aoi stood up slowly after she looked at the surrounding trees and motion for Fenrir to follow as she went back even father to explore more of the area. Aoi continued walking for what seemed like forever before she heard a rustling and watched a Fenrir jolted off toward the sound. Aoi not being able to see much continued to walk forward hoping Fenrir would come back soon, but then she quickly found herself falling into a hole.

"Aaaahhh!" Aoi let out a loud scream as she collided with he bottom of the hole. Awhile after she hit the bottom she stood up reaching for a wall or something to climb up on considering it would take a long rope or two maybe three people to get her out depending on their height. She continued to feel her way around in the dark before she realized that it wasn't a hole it was a tunnel as she made her way back to the place she landed wondering if anybody had heard her scream.

Jack sat down grumpily in the midst of the audience that he had so suddenly become a part of; it wasn’t his style to just wait around for something or someone to make things get back into motion. All he wanted as an endless swirl of combat, slicing, bleeding, killing, and for the most part he wanted to engage in combat that would literally rip his mind from reality dragging him to the depths of hell where he belonged. Sitting idly amongst strangers around a fire didn’t sit well with these ambitions that the ruffian of a man had set for himself. His eyes flitted from stranger to stranger as he waited anxiously for something exciting to happen. For a time he watched as one of the strangers slipped into a hole in the ground and everyone waited anxiously for the person to come back up, but it seemed to be taking them longer than it should have,

“What a waste of time….” He grumbled under his breath as he rocked on his buttocks against the log of rotten wood which he had turned into his seat for the night; at least while he was waiting he wanted to pretend to be comfortable.

Genna looked up, expecting to see the man she snapped at just seconds ago to be there but instead discovered an empty space. She stared aghast at the spot with her one good eye, before glancing around finding that he had walked right by her to sit on some log, completely ignoring her. In any other circumstance, she might have even considered being a pessimistic depressed person to have been ignored so easily, yet this wasn't any other circumstance. She was almost certain that she was the only non-pirate here and that didn't sit well with her being surrounded by 4 possible evil pirates.

The bounty huntress was once again torn out of her own thoughts but this time by a scream rather than a few words. Genna went frigid, fearing what horror's had caused someone to scream. The only thing that popped into her mind that could be so horrifying was the thought of mechanics or even doctors!!! She shivered as memories of her younger years popped into her head. Looking around, she even came to deduce that the scream did in fact come from a person of their group since now only 3 people were visible. The worst fact, however, came from the realization that the scream was really close to them too.

Not wanting to move, she regrettably forced herself to move to see if she could pinpoint exactly where the scream had came from seconds before. Instead, however, Genna seemed to have looked over a hole in the ground, falling into it and onto something warm and soft.

"EEK!" Genna screamed as she jumped off whatever she had fallen on trying to depict her surroundings through the dark.

Another scream pierced the air as Gene finialy realized the name of the flower he saw earlier. "Screaming Maw" He unexpectedly said out loud. A very rare specimen, but whats is it doing here. He thought as he was getting up to look at the flower again. Taking a large burning stick from the fire he went off into the woods making sure to stop by the hole in the ground.

"Hey need some help down there?" he asked jokingly. Of course Gene wasn't going to help them. Why would he when there are much better things to do. Leaving the place Gene back tracked to where he saw the flower.

"This looks like the one. No doubt about it." With its black petals surrounded by a purple out line and its stem branching off like a root system there was no doubt that it was the Screaming Maw. Extending the saw from his ring finger Gene cut the stem from the roots the saw making a high pitched wiring sound. Gingerly putting the specimen into a vial he made his way back to camp. Gene was so lost in the amount of things that he could do with the flower that he forgot his way back. He turn on his inferred vision to see if he could find the heat of the camp fire. Looking around he noticed a faint orange glow and made his way toward it totally missing the giant hole in the ground due to his heat vision. Instinctively as he was falling Gene righted himself out landing on his feet. The torch was still lit, and was hoping it lit someone on fire. He needed a laugh now as he was examining his surroundings.

After the first scream was let out, Eva did nothing. It was none of her business what happened to the others. Not that she even cared for that matter. The banana's and coconuts were too good, there was just about nothing that could get her to leave her position. She was content.

Then a THUD was heard in the same direction, Eva grabbed a banana and started peeling it. Though she was finally a little bit concerned. After wolfing down the banana she got up and dusted herself off. Walking in the direction of the thud, she noticed that there was a hole ahead of her. Taking her time she walked around the hole and continued in that direction. Unable to find anyone she walked back totally forgetting about the existence of the hole.

Stepping forward, she continued on until on one step she didn't feel the ground under her. Tumbling down she noticed something burning near the bottom. Stretching out totally she grabbed the sides of the hole, pulling herself to one side. She barely made it around the fire which seemed to be on a torch. Sighing relief she looked around. The guy and girl from earlier seemed to be piled on top of each other.

The hole seemed to expand into a tunnel, this was getting interesting. She laughed.
