It was dark and damp in Left Village that evening. The dark clouds that filled the sky all the way to the horizon made it seem like the sun had all but disappeared. A white fog rolled in, low but thick and musty. Slow trails and wisps of it oozed around houses and trees, filled the small valleys between short hills and sailed outward toward a graveyard on the edge of town. The fog embraced the well-kept headstones, drowned the small plaques and invaded the lighthouse that existed within the cemetery, entering in through he unwisely open door.
Up 5 stories of winding stairway, far from where the fog could reach, a boy sat precariously on the ledge of the lighthouse. The dark made the light necessary, the only hope for those out on the sea to evade the coming storm. This light was as well kept as the headstones, the fire within burning brightly and clearly, though that light seemed to but the boy in even deeper darkness. He was a silhouette against the light that reached out over the sea, a shadow cast upon the dark waters before him.
A soft sort of music came from the boy. He shifted to adjust a white guitar that he held in his hands. A few tuneless strums drifted, like the fog, thought the silence, then ever so slowly a melody began to form. It was a strange tune, one that was undoubtedly dark, but not sad. It wasn't depressing, it was just creepy and almost a bit fun. It gave the impression of a song played at a party for the dead; morbid, eerie, and deadly, but at the same time held a strange sensation of life.
"I can't explain..." The boy's voice moved with the music, the tone just as strange as the melody itself. His eyes, dark even against the darkness looked out onto the ocean with an odd eagerness, his mouth split open in a Cheshire grin. The 'Black Cat' of Left Village chuckled softly, his fingers moving fluidly and nimbly over the strings on his guitar. A storm was coming~ "...just how it feels..."
The faint sound of music carried over to the center of town, and though a few heard it, none stopped to admire the sound. Most citizen were heading into their homes to escape the approaching rain and darkness. The travelers of the town checked into the nearest inn and all of those who didn't want to go home were gathered in the larger town pub.
