New Character Template
This is the character template used for creating Original Characters (OCs) here on Bon Voyage. You can copy and paste the code into a new thread in our Character Creation Board and complete the template there. You don’t have to use this exact template if you don’t want to. So long as your own personalized template has all the necessary information, we won’t mind!
While you’re working on it, add the WIP label by clicking on the “Actions” drop-down menu at the top of the post, go to “Labels” and then select “Add WIP”. Once you’ve completed it and are ready for a member of staff to assess it for approval, you can do the same again. Just select “Remove WIP” and “Add Pending”. Staff won’t normally look at character profiles that haven’t had the Pending label applied, so make sure you do so!
Please be aware that each member can only have one character profile marked WIP at a time in the Character Approval board. If you have more than one profile marked with the WIP label at a time, the oldest one will be archived.
Note to Mobile Users: You will need to switch to Desktop mode to be able to access the Labels options.[div align="center"]Character’s Full Name Here[/div]

Here’s a breakdown of what everything in the template means and the kind of information we require. Everything in the template should be pretty self-explanatory, but it doesn’t hurt to be shown the ropes, especially if you’re new to the site or creative writing role play in general!
Character’s Full Name Here
This is simple enough. Just replace it with your character’s full name, for example: Monkey D. Luffy. This will serve as a nice title to your character profile.
Other Names
Certain characters might have nicknames or monikers that are used in place of their real name, such as how Franky’s real name was originally Cutty Flam. They might be called by a nickname, positive or negative, like how Sanji often calls Zoro ‘Marimo’ – much to the latter’s chagrin – whenever they bicker.
Epithet
An epithet is a sort of moniker or ‘Claim to Fame’ given to many important characters in One Piece. It’s often used as a key identifier, striking fear – or even encouragement – into the hearts of those who hear it. All of the Stra What’s currently have epithets tied to their bounties, including: “Straw Hat” (or “Mugiwara”) Luffy, “Pirate Hunter” Zoro, and “Black Leg” Sanji. In some cases, an epithet might be of personal origin, assigned by your enemies, or by your allies. For example, Robin is referred to as “Devil Child” by the World Government (and thus her bounty poster), while the Revolutionaries referred to her as the “Light of the Revolution”.
Height & Build
Self explanatory. How tall is your character? And a word or two to describe their physique, such as ‘Broad, Muscular’, or ‘Slender, Hourglass’.
Age
Simple enough.
Gender
What is your character’s gender identity?
Race
What race does your character belong to? Are they a human, Fishman, Giant, or…? For information on the various playable races, check out Playable Races. If you’re playing a variable race such as the Fishmen, Merfolk or Mink, then you should also specify what species they are based on, such as how Arlong is a Sawshark Fishman, Keimi is a Kissing Fish Mermaid, and Carrot is a Rabbit Mink.
Occupation
What job or role does your character fulfil? Brook is a Pirate Musician, for example. There are various occupations, some never touched on in the series, but they no doubt exist in the world!
Bounty/Rank
If you’re on the wrong side of the Law, then a Bounty is something you’ll be given by the World Government as a mark of your level of danger to them and their people. Similarly, as a Marine, you’ll be awarded a Rank.
Total & Used X-Poinz
As you should already know (see here), X-Poinz are a form of ‘currency’ used on site to develop characters. A character always starts with 400 X-Poinz (XPz) and 3 Aspect Vouchers to their name, which you can spend on Aspects, Techniques, and so on. Used X-Poinz should be a record of exactly how much you’ve spent out of what the character has earned. Additionally, your Total X-Poinz will never go down - it is a tally of the character’s total lifetime earned X-Poinz, so you do not subtract from it.
Used Account X-Poinz
A special currency, Account X-Poinz can only be earned through specific actions and can only be used to purchase Techniques. This is to keep track of the total Account X-Poinz used on this character at a glance. You may keep other accounting of Account X-Poinz on your X-Poinz Record, but please be sure to differentiate it from normal X-Poinz.
X-Poinz Record
While it may not seem like a necessity at first, keeping an accurate record of your X-Poinz earning and spending quickly becomes very important after character creation. Any time the character earns X-Poinz, you will want to add it to the + list - and any time the character spends some of their earned X-Poinz, you will want to record the purchase to the - list.
Voucher Record
Being that there are two types of vouchers available, keeping a record of them is absolutely necessary for both your own sanity and the sanity of staff. Any time the character earns a Voucher of either type, add it to the + list, and any time the character spends a voucher, add it to the - list. Please always denote what kind of voucher you are spending in some way, whether it be adding (A) or (T) to the line.
Personality
This is the core of your character’s being. Give us a few short paragraphs which describe your character’s personality. You don’t need too much detail – it’s more for your benefit than anyone else’s – but should try and pick out three or four personality points. When building a personality, consider your character’s personal strengths and weaknesses. What are your character’s ideals, personal flaws and what drives them on their journey?
Appearance
What does your character look like? Describe their general physical features, any quirks of their physiology – such as scars and unusual proportions – and, of course, the kind of outfits and accessories they wear. A general sense of style helps. Try not to be bland in your descriptions: Don’t become ‘Generic Anime Character 77’. It’s amazing how small, insignificant details – like a person’s face shape – can help paint a detailed picture to others.
Fighting Styles
A simple description of how your character fights! Give us an idea of how they use their abilities in battle. A paragraph is good another here.
Aspects
A list of all of your character's Aspects! These specify the abilities and capabilities of your character. Are you strong and tough? Can you shoot something from miles away? Maybe you can generate fire or electricity! List 'em all here.
Techniques
The application and use of aspects into those flashy things that characters shout the names of are Techniques! You can combine a bunch of Aspects to produce wild and varied effects, building up a fearsome move to conquer your enemies or bolster your allies. You'll list them all here, including a description of what it do and what Aspects were used to create the effect.
Background
Every character has a backstory, whether it be simple, happy or tragic, or even a mix! Give us a few paragraphs specifying important events that would have shaped your character’s growth up until now.
