Kujaku #8
Soredama Kujaku was somewhat ignorant to the panicked movements of those outside her immediate reach — mere pedestrians were of no importance. What prompted a raised eyebrow, however, was the question asked by none other than the gentleman whose neck she had saved. Seth Anat’s face said it all, his words mere adding to it; a portrayal of his annoyance both visual and verbal that made the gunslinger’s eyes roll. So this was the type she had gotten involved with.“You shot them?!”
“That’s not really what I asked you to say, but whatever,” the Stray Bullet hummed, attention more or less upon Seth than upon the fearful youth. With equal grace, she holstered the revolver again, seeing no need for it. Besides, she had already proven how quick on the draw she could be. Eyes honed in on more sharply upon Anat. “You know, it’s usually considered courteous to thank somebody who saves your life,” Jack continued, albeit maintaining her monotony through a small frown and softly furrowed brow.“I just…,” Seth sighed:
“I’m not here to play.”
A kink in his plans…? Wait, was he actually considering joining Collaart’s crew…? Thoughts coming together as the man with oddly coloured eyes seemed to size her up, the possibility that this fellow’s previously established interest in Jacobi certainly made sense. Yet somehow, his motives were not so easily read. Kujaku did not know the extent of this guy’s relationship to piracy. A rookie or a veteran, aligned with or opposed to; it was all a mystery as far as she was concerned, though interest in his backstory was quickly dismissed in favour of something else.
A faint shimmer, tinted blue.“Well, that’s different,” Miss Soredama uttered:
“I’m guessing this is your doing…?”
Any sense of urgency or need of haste was mostly shunted aside. The wheelchair-bound woman simply reached to fetch yet another bottle of juice from one of the satchels, keeping both Seth and the cowardly kid in her periphery all the while. Neither seemed immediately inclined to move, though it could hardly be said they were stock still, either. Both were in motion in their own way, one trembling, the other thinking.{Post Synopsis:—}
Kujaku is confused by Seth’s reactions, but remains cool despite the gradual escalation of events, even stowing her revolver.
