Yari Yari no Mi
English Name: Spear Spear Fruit
Classification: Paramecia
Owned By: Idoc Zaitli
Appearance: This fruit looks more or less like an avocado, but it's more than a foot long. The rind is dark grey and extremely smooth, while the petiole is gray, ending in a sharp point. When opened, it reveals a beige flesh and a grey seed that extends from the petiole almost to the other end.
Ability: The fruit's power is quite simple: whatever the user comes into physical contact with can extend in any direction and acquire a sharpened edge.
- Spear Formation
By coming into physical contact with something and deciding one particular direction in space, the target will start to stretch and elongate in the chosen direction. Since total mass of the object must remain the same, the object must also become thinner than before. The transformation ends by the user's will (or loss of consciousness), and the object turns back to their original dimensions.
In addition to simply stretching out the target, the object affected additional acquires a sharpened edge at the end of the elongated object in the direction of the stretch. This point most commonly takes the form of a spear point, like the fruit's namesake. In the case that the object already possesses a sharpened end, the end simply grows sharper still. No strain or tearing forces are exerted on the affected object unless specifically allowed by the user.
Weaknesses:
- Kairōseki (“Sea-Prism Stone”) saps the physical strength of the Ability User and prevents them from consciously controlling or activating their power. Obviously, if the user attempts to touch Kairōseki to activate this ability, it will fail and trigger the above condition.
- Submersion in water immobilizes the user and causes them to sink, disabling conscious power control.
- The Yari Yari no Mi is unable to affect sentient biological organisms such as animals or intelligent species. Non sentient organisms such as plants can be affected normally.
