Where the X-Poinz system serves as a reward for playing a character and the currency to fuel their advancement, the Account Rebate system serves to reward players for activity aside from playing their characters!
You may be familiar with traditional Rebate X-Poinz; when you make upgrade a character’s Fighting Style or purchase equipment, you receive half of the XPz used for that purchase back as rebate that can be spent on things that utilize that FiSt or equipment. Account Rebate takes that idea and expands upon it, turning it into a new form of account currency.
What is Account Rebate?
Simply put, Account Rebate is floating Rebate XPz tied to your account here on Bon Voyage. When earned, it will appear on your profile, allowing for easy tracking of how much you may have. This Rebate XPz can then be used in the Market Place when making certain types of purchases.
Unlike normal Rebate XPz, Account Rebate is not tied to any individual character, and can thus be spent on any of your own characters. However, just like normal Rebate XPz, it cannot be spent to upgrade a FiSt! Account Rebate can be spent in order to purchase new equipment or techniques, with the usual restrictions on those based on the character’s Class.
How is Account Rebate Earned?
While you earn regular XPz by making in-character posts with your original characters, and Rebate XPz is earned by making upgrades and purchases with your regular XPz, Account Rebate has its own unique methods of being earned!
- The first method of earning Account Rebate is by controlling an NPC in a thread where you are not playing an original character. When you take on the duties of an NPC in order to present a challenge for another player, or simply to help them tell a certain story, you would not earn any XPz. As such, you instead earn Account Rebate at a rate of 10 per post.
- The second method of earning Account Rebate is by roleplaying in a section of the site that does not award XPz for roleplaying there. The primary section of the site that does not award XPz is the OOC Zone, with its Mission and Arena systems. Account Rebate earned in this manner is earned at a rate of 10 per post.
- The third method of earning Account Rebate is by creating or updating an island. Islands serve an important role on Bon Voyage - you can’t have a story without a setting, after all! You can find more information and the current island profile template in the Island Creation board. Account Rebate earned in this manner will be equal to 100 per island, added to your account upon approval of the island.
- The fourth and final method of earning Account Rebate is by participating in site events and promotions. The amount of Account Rebate earned through this method, if applicable, is subject to change, depending on the type of event or promotion being run, and will thus be announced alongside the event or promotion.
Finally, an important note - you cannot earn regular Rebate XPz when making a purchase with Account Rebate! (For example, Equipment purchased with Account Rebate would not award an additional amount of Rebate XPz, as it would normally.)
