Personality
A ruthless and brutal warrior, Gennaro divides the world into those who hunt and those who are hunted, and he confidently believes himself one of the best of the later category. There is no thrill like the hunt for Gennaro – he’ll often pick weaker prey just to keep his skills sharp, but the true game for him is the smart, cunning, and swift equal. He lives for the thrill of the chase of those smarter creatures. While he often kills the prey he catches, seeing little use for weaklings and the like, he has been known to release those who impress him in battle or the hunt itself; either way he loves to prove his excellence by being able to trap prey or best it in battle. Genno decries civilization and the World Government as an amusing game, but ultimately something to be shed for the thrill of the hunt itself. Of course he’s more than willing to use technology or other means to catch his quarry, and he loves to brag to others about his prowess, but he’ll never let a machine or a trap get in the way of the hunt itself.
Beyond battle Gennaro takes this 'kill or be killed' mindset into his interactions with others, testing the mettle of others, especially his presumed betters. He realized long ago that most of the time, people pretend to be something that they’re not to get what they want. Similarly, a lot of potential goes untapped because no one is willing to challenge themselves, and test their strength. That’s where, he reasons, he comes in. Genno sees himself as providing an invaluable service to the world around him, by forcing it to realize its true strength and capabilities. He feels it’s important to take the poseurs down a notch, and it gives him a chance to figure out where he fits into the hierarchy, as well. Genno’s not willing to accept anything at face value; he’s blunt and to the point in that regard, always looking for a chance to size others up. He takes great pleasure in exposing the weakness of others through direct confrontation, especially those who claimed to be something they weren’t. Conversely though he takes just as much pleasure whenever he proves to someone that they’re stronger than they thought. Moreover though Genno can ever resist a challenge or an opportunity to size someone up, man to man, and he’ll never surrender once he’s decided on a victim. He never trusts someone until he’s tested their mettle personally.
But it’s not enough for Gennaro simply be a hunter. He seeks to conquer all who oppose him, destroying the weak if possible. His world view is defined by those who bow to him and those who get killed because they didn’t. To Genno, all exists at and for his pleasure. He plays people off each other, like chess pieces on a board, with no consideration for anyone’s needs but his own. He takes what he wants without asking, and he destroys those weaker than himself for amusement. To that end Genno has his gang and he rules them with an iron fist. He works hard to build and strengthen his pirate organization, preaching loyalty and submission to his leadership. He will not stand for his law or authority to be undermined. While he understands that a group is more powerful than any one individual, he does not consider himself equal to his band of followers. He is the head, and he uses them at his whim to further his own goals. Genno never retreats from battle, nor will he ever compromise his own territory to an enemy. Likewise any enemy great enough to threaten his entire group will be dealt with ruthlessly, as he will never allow any one person to endanger his entire organization or his goals.
The thrill of chaos calls to Gennaro, but he sees himself as the center of a storm, twisting all around him while he remains unmoved. He’s hardly ever fazed by the ever-changing tableau around him and is therefore willing to take great risks, wading through combat or standing atop the tall spires of his ship while a raging thunderstorm crashes all about. Others regard you him as a maniac and a removed manipulator, but he knows only by holding fast to where you are can you survive the whirling storm all around. He looks out at the world and see an ocean of mindless fools that haven’t the slightest clue as to what it’s all about. He believes it’s therefore his right and duty to take advantage of them. How else are they going to learn? A thief and a raider, Genno takes what he wants from others without a moment’s hesitation and guilt. If his victims are stupid or weak enough to be victims, then he sees no reason not to use and abuse them. He feels no real pity for these people– they’ve made their own beds, and now they can lie in them. Genno never flinches from danger and he’ll never do anything that helps others more than it hurts them or helps him, in the long run.
