So, he was born at the end of October. The girl brought her index finger to her lower lip and glanced up to the sky. Her mind was searching for stories from her godmother about star signs. She was sure there were categories of which signs were natural friends and which ones would never work together. She didn’t really believe it, but it would be so interesting if it were true. There were four alliances for star signs, she was pretty sure that her and his sign fell under the water element signs. *Somehow, I can even hear my godmother’s voice as if she is telling me this again. Heh, maybe there is some truth in it all and the universe wants us to become friends or something.* the thought of the universe wanting anything from her was odd. PO Taighana was not a religious person. She respected the beliefs of others but could never bring herself to blindly believe a piece of literature as the prophet of deities. Most religious literature taught the same thing, really – to be considerate of others and nod do unnecesarry harm. *Ok, I’m going too far in thought here. Heh, at least I’m older than him.* Almost half a year older, to be exact. And just like that, she would feel this strange sense of maturity spreading over her being. The age gap was laughable – they were the same age, but just like in childhood, she felt like she knows the world better because of existing a little longer. Tsubaki had her childish moments.
Pluto was about to try and kill a log with a wooden sword – which was kind of like stabbing a human with a bone, she figured. Quite barbaric, if one were to really think about it… Nevertheless, the young marine would walk closer and carefully observe everything that he was doing. The young man knew how to move fluently. This was good. There was a lot to work with. Tsubaki couldn’t be more pleased. This could mean she could train while training him? Oh, that would be so very productive. The young noble had not done much that day due to the commotion, but she would love to move a bit. However, she did not wish to get her hopes up too quickly. It would be a shame if Pluto got hurt just because she got excited.
The impact on the log was solid. This was the first strike he made. It looked like he had a good idea of how weight distribution worked. This was also good. The young woman found herself nodding along with most of her inner conclusions. To someone else it might look a little off. She would just stare at Pluto and nod every few seconds. Then again, there were no more than four or five nods.
The young marine made her way to the warehouse nearby. The soil crackled under her boots and the sound stopped only when she got to the entrance. She opened the wooden door, which seemed to moan in disappointment of getting moved, only to reappear with a cutlass and a sheathed katana. ”I actually think that a wakizashi would fit you better, but you will have to do with a long sword. Pick one.” she grinned while holding up the two. After he made a pick, she would stick the other in the ground. Unfortunately, they only had these as standard issue. ”I’m guessing the blade is a bit dull by now, but it’s not like we’ll be trying to cut each other up, right?” Tsubaki laughed and then continued, ”Anyways, I noticed that you could benefit from using your wrists more for amortization. You are well aware of how to transfer body weight, which is good, but with a long sword you might damage your joints with heavy targets, if you don’t use your wrists more as a spring in a mechanism than a solid path for your force to travel through. I’m starting to think you might be very skilled in hand-to-hand… or maybe you just do a lot of yoga.”
The girl would let him get accustomed with the sword and soon pull her Ryūran out of its scabbard. The katana was longer and had a sharper tip angle than most seen swords. The guard was in the shape of a flower – an orchid – and the hilt was black with a dark purple thread weaved in. She sliced the air while holding it in her right hand and took a long look over the blade. It was strange- she would always stare at it. This object was, perhaps, one of her most loved possessions.
”Sadly, we don’t have a couple of years to go through proper forms and training programs, so for today we will just see how you would fair with that weapon against me. Of course, I would appreciate if I didn’t end up stabbed, but I think it’s a good idea for you to attack me.” she laughed, “You might just learn something.”
