Standing among her panting fellow men and women, Nadya Orlov pittied them to a degree. Like a swarm of locusts, the small army had whirled through town. The waves of white and blue had gotten the cooperation they deserved. Citizens had vacated the streets long before the soldiers even arrived, eager to not get in their way. Despite the quick time, this feeling of well-deserved respect gave her enough of a good mood not to care about the tempo.
From her position at the backend of the troop, right behind the Petty Officer Taighana, Nadya got a good look at Lieutenant Yngvildr and her gigantic hammer. Earlier, the pure mention of rank had gotten the young skylady to crumble. Now however, where she good get a good look on the Hammer of Justice during the job, she recognised that not just her position was a reason to hold the stoic woman in high regards. Firm and focused on the mission ahead, not even bothering with unecessary quips like Captain Bannik; this was a boss to Nady's tastes!
"'This enough light for ya?" asked a squeaky voice behind them. It belonged to the second member of the Ozwiena that Miss Orlov had met so far. Seaman Recruit Oddmund Ozwiena, a short fellow with sickly pale, slightly yellow skin and spiky purple hair. Ever since she had spotted him in the crowd for the first time, Oddmund reminded Nadya of a humansized rat. Skinny arms and even tinier hands stood in stark contrast to a slightly overweight belly and muscular, well-trained legs. His beak nose strangely reminded her of a vermin's snout as well. In his hands, the recruit was holding one of those lantern sticks that some of them had been handed.
"Good job Mundy..." she sighed, carefully watching the lantern dangling slightly above her head "Just try not to burn my wings, okay?"
The lack of a chuckle from the man next to her revealed where his attention was right now. Yryan was walking next to her, clenching the club that was oh so dear to him as they followed everyone down into the tunnel. Those weren't his thing at all. Tunnels. Narrow, usually dark and easily collapsed. Nady remembered all too well how he would always avoid cleaning duties in the 24ths Base cellar back then. Not that Ryan was panicking, just kind of nervous, like some people couldn't be around pets. People always feared what they couldn't control or even predict. Luckily, Mr. Ozwiena had the behind of a certain Petty Officer in plain view in front of him, enough to distract him from initial irks. Or laughing at jokes at the expense of his distant cousin.
The blonde curly head had not reacted well to the revelation that another member of the vast Ozwiena family was stationed here on Athens back when they arrived. When currently not in training, Mundy used every opportunity to stick to his relative as if he had been glued to him - despite the constant jabs he had to endure from both him and Nady alike. He was a kid of simple values: Family above all, even if one barely knew or liked them.
As the order to split into groups was announced, the situation was quickly decided among the Fort Wisdom troops themselves. Those who knew each other grouped together.
"I'd like to stay with Tsubaki-chan, if that's alright with you." Yrian suggested to the hazel haired Petty Officer.
"I'm with Ryan!" squeaked Oddmund right away
"No way I'm letting my eyes off you two." Nadya promptly snapped after she did the due salute to signify that she had gotten the order.
Out of place with his babble as always, Yrian swiftly carried on talking, not even paying attention to what Miss Taighana had to say about their joint decision to form a squad.
"So, tell us some more while we wait, miss. Where've you been before you came here?"
'while we wait'....
"Ryan I swear I'll slap you again!"
