I was talking to EriChar yesterday because I had a few questions about one of the most recent bans. If you don't know who it was, it was Randy Savage - for reasons I don't really know about - but I'm just saying it, now, for all of those who may have had dealings with her that deserve to know. The situation really blindsided her because she had no idea what it was that she could've done to have gotten banned. It's a lack of communication between staff and the member in question that makes it a bad way of handling things. I'm not saying there wasn't a good reason for the ban, but I don't really think both sides of the story was listened to, which may make any person in question look straight up like the bad guy. So, I have a few suggestions on what I feel would make the process of bans go a little smoother.
My first suggestion is: opening a "Forum Court" board. Who would be the judge? Omega. What they would do is post the ban thread of whoever is in question, stating the decision that the staff had come to an agreement on and tagging the person being prosecuted so that they can be made aware of the thread. They'll be given a chance to defend themselves by posting, and if a compromise can be made, the ban would either be appealed or be made temporary. If it's temporary, they should be given the chance to read Omega's next post which would state how long the temp ban is. If it's decided that a full ban would be put into place, they should still be given the chance to see the post stating so, so it wouldn't come as a surprise to them the next time they try to log in.
My second, and perhaps more simple, idea is: hold this "court session" in a PM between the person being prosecuted and Omega, or every staff member that should be involved, and do the same as I described above, there.
This is all meant to keep people who could've changed for the better from getting removed indefinitely. Personally, I feel that if spoken to on these terms, Randy would've proven to be someone who could change her approach to the way she may have been handling things with certain members of the staff. She has shown nothing but respect to me, and the instances that I have seen her debating something, it wasn't in a negative way. I wasn't around for every "dispute" she's had in the cbox, but she has even expressed to me that since people take her words and actions in the wrong way, she would stay away from the cbox just to avoid conflict. I really do believe a lot of members jump to too many conclusions without speaking to the person in question about their true intentions and motives, and frankly, people need to start communicating with each other better.
Mmk! So, if you think that these ideas would be good, vote "Good Idea," and tell which way you'd like it to be handled. If you don't like it, vote "Nah," and explain why you don't think it's a good idea. I'd like to request that everyone would please post after voting, even if it's just to state how you feel the same way as someone who posted before you. Don't be scurred! Express yourself and do it good~!
