Well so far, this entire day had been a bust! Randy thought as the ran under a building awning to shield herself from the rain. Thunder boomed overhead as she ducking into the building. It was a simple noodle shop and there were a couple others huddled inside as well. For the past two days the island had been plagued by a brutal storm. The murmurs around the island acted like it was a warning to the impeding doom of its inhabitants. Randy hadn't gotten the full version of the story out of anyone yet but she planned on it now. Her original reason for coming to this island was a bust so she hoped to at least make it interesting.
Randy had come to Stetson island to try to tag a bounty. At the moment, she was separated from Devlin, who had come along. Apparently, this bounty of theirs was throwing a big gala party event to show off how powerful and untouchable he was. Today was to be the day of the even--the plan was to show up, enjoy some free food, drinks, and dance. Then, just before the night got boring, they were going to bust into action and grab themselves a bounty. Unfortunately, that plan was cancelled. The constant storm and torrential downpour had apparently been a huge party deterrent. It was postponed until the storm stopped. But that was the least of the island's worries. There was something big brewing under the surface; Randy could feel it in the air and see it in people's faces.
Her outfit was surprisingly fancy for her. It was a backlass dress with straps that wrapped around the back of her neck. Her hair had been full and curly, but the rain ruined most of that. The dress itself was longer but was opened on both sides. To onlookers it would seem like she was just showing some leg, but for her it was functional. She would have a full range of movement in a combat situation. Her shoes were not heels, but wedges. Randy never was particularly adept at high heels; the best she could usually manage was walking like a dinosaur. But wedges still achieved the attractive rise without being quite as hard to walk in. The dress itself was a deep black, drawing a contrast from the bright red intensity of her hair and eyes. Her hair, even though partially soaked, still burned a fierce red--its color undeterred by the elements.
She stood for a moment watching the rain before turning away and walking into the noodle shop. Besides for the group of people huddled in the doorway waiting for a break in the rain, there actually weren't that many customers around. Randy found herself a booth and slid into it before resting her face on one hand, the other lying lackadaisically on the table. She still wore her gauntlets, of course, their stark gold providing further contrast to her dress. Before she could even take another moment to sigh a waiter had come up and addressed her. He looked worried but was still determined to get some business.
"Just give me whatever your spiciest noodles are and some good saki..." Randy trailed off before her mind snapped back and she realized what she should be asking about. "Oh! And do you know what's going on in this town? Everyone seems so morose!"
"You mean you don't know?!" The waiter snapped. "I'll get the newsletter! Hold on!"
The man scampered hurriedly away from her table. As he ran she couldn't help but hope he'd put her food order in first. She hadn't eaten all day; she was really planning on pigging out at this banquet. She finally let out the sigh the waiter interrupted and continued to stare out the doorway into the storm. Boredom was overtaking her. Normally, whenever she was bored her hair color would dilute and look flat right along with her. She found it strange though that today it didn't seem to calm down. It stayed vibrant and flickered a bit at the ends, almost as if in anticipation of an event. Briefly, Randy wondered if it was because of the storm.
The waiter returned and, thankfully, had her food. He set down a large bowl in front of her, a carafe of liquor, and a poster that looked like it was just ripped from a wall. Randy ignored it for a moment as she pulled a large orange pepper out from her dress. There were more than a few strange looks as she broke the pepper up into her noodles. The Sirach Pepper. Lots of creamy sauce without many seeds in the center. Fantastic on noodles. Randy was pleased she had one with her. She was prepared for if she had to season boring hors d'oeuvres. She read the handout over while absentmindedly shoving noodles into her mouth.
Randy eyed the letter with interest. A crew 300 strong? That sounds super FUN! Randy couldn't help but let her excitement mount, her brain finally realized what her hair had been telling her for awhile now. She took a large gulp of saki while she thought of what course of action to take next. Should she try to find Devlin? Or should she just try to find him in the fighting? Maybe he just went to the boat to wait for her there. Randy continued to enjoy her food, anxious for the action that awaited her.

!!ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS!!
The wanted man MAD DOG DIGGY has taken refuge on our lovely Stetson Island. He is a wanted criminal. He has recently laid claims that he is "protecting" this island from the leering eyes of Marines and Pirates alike. While his claims are big, his bounty is small and we doubt this is the case. His recent propaganda states he will come down on the island with his crew of 300 strong if we do not bend to his demands. Stetson Island does not negotiate with terrorists. We do not believe he will attack but, if he does, you have been warned.
The Dickson Family.
