Alright, this is for the character, Oliver Williams. A young man who is the weakest marine made to this day. Now I have a starting point, how he is at this point, and a high point, where he'll be particularly powerful. Putting CP9 to shame and stuff. Now the middle part is a bit fuzzy, as I recently tried to make a thread like this, but it failed when I backspaced and lost all 5 or 6 paragraphs of my thought process. So I'm going to try and simplify it a bit, with what I can remember.
Firstly, the rising action. Oliver, a weakling in the marines, goes on missions with people who are far superior to him or just in general RP with other marines or bounty hunters. Now this will entail Oliver having some coincidental acts of heroism, being handed the credit for taking some big wig down, or pretty much doing good things with the wrong method and it works out. Fat ladies falling from burning buildings and landing on him and it just so happens that he save a noblewoman's life. Talking down a suicide attempter by getting them to pity him with his shit life story. Picking up some litter and putting it in a trash can only for it explode in the contained area and he saved the people from a terrorist attack.
All this will place him in a position of power that he doesn't quite deserve, racking up promotions and winding up being a D/C Class Marine Captain. Now because he's so puny, he's now some kind of public symbol of justice from the everyman. How anyone can do the right thing and become something big. And its around this point where he finds out that he's nowhere near strong enough to handle the kind of tasks he's given, and even worse off, he's learning that he can't lose his position, because as a symbol the higher ranking marines are using him like some sort of podium. He's forced to make speeches, and execute people publicly.
The corruption doesn't get to him and break him, in fact, it infuriates him, and so he asks the just marines that he's worked with for help, and trains with them, perhaps learning haki at this point, and finally gets that sexiness every marine winds up getting with training. It becomes his goal to become the strongest marine and it becomes his aim to take Akainu and his corrupt idea of 'Absolute Justice' off the high throne it holds by becoming Fleet Admiral himself, with the aim of 'Moral Justice'. Of course that's just his aim.
So what I need, isn't necessarily a squad, but people who I can count on to early on be the people who get the big wigs for real and just for some reason pass on the credit to Oliver, because he either somehow finished it (total fluke) or he was nearby and they somehow didn't want th credit for the win because it would cramp their style or something. This actually took about as much space as it did before, which is good.
Anyone want on board this idea? It shouldn't interfere too much with anyone's plots beyond maybe a thread delay, or maybe they don't collect that huge bounty they were after. Heck maybe that revenge trip they were after ended with a less than satisfying taste in the character's mouth, and they completed their goals, they just gave Oliver the credit by letting him capture that pirate.
