Subject: Enhancing Cyborgs
Okay people, I wanted to talk today about a type of character that makes the One Piece universe fun. The Cyborg.
We all love and know Franky, and if you're like me, you might have made a Cyborg.
I wanted to propose some ideas to enhance the board around Cyborgs.
Proposal 1: Part Rank Guide and Rules
Cyborgs need their own rules laid out better. I propose that rules and guidelines be put in place for Cyborgs listing examples of modifications, boundaries on what's allowed and not allowed.
An example would be putting ranks on the complexity of a cybernetic part augmented to a person.
Example: A Cybernetic Leg that is nothing but an advanced prosthetic you can walk on would be
E-Rank: Things like compartments you would have to manually open, weapons stored in it would have to be drawn or manually extended, such as a slide lever for extending a knife or a gun holster you have to open with your hand.
D-Rank: More advanced cybernetic augmentations, maybe taser launchers or a gun mounted in the knee you can fire without the use of your hands. Simple weaponry, but now hands free.
C-Rank: Actually advanced cybernetics such as missile launchers, automatically moving compartments by your will. Complex things such as automatic gun mechanisms or a system for charging and releasing electrical attacks.
B-Rank: Advanced cybernetics usually unseen, think Franky level here. This is where you special magnifying scope and night visions eyes rest. Super powerful special attack cybernetics such as an area of effect electric stomp.
A-Rank: With careful supervision and thought the deadliest of weapons come available, such as ammunition generating modifications, lasers, identification and specialized tracking modifications. Things worthy of a character holding the vaunted and never reached A-Rank, someone trusted to handle such power. (Also lasers other then a pointer are limited to world government/marine characters only.)
S-Rank: Who knows? But no one has ever even seen an S-Rank Cyborg, not even sure the technology beyond A-Rank exists, but I doubt anything shown in the show would be off limits at this level as far as advancement. You are talking about a Mech-Man on par with Whitebeard. I'm not sure any cybernetic part is even possible to create in one piece capable of that.

Proposal 2: Species Limitations
The modifications of a Cyborg are amazing and vast, but not always for the best. Some species would naturally be disadvantaged by the use of said machinery for logical reasons.
As such I propose a species based limit on what prosthetic parts are allowed, limitations and disadvantages that they impose.
Giants (over 15 feet): Firstly, prosthetic metal is rare. Giants are huge. The modifications and scale of the projects for even a simple graft would be daunting. There is no metal in one piece short of a Wazimono sword that has shown to be as hard or sturdy as a giant.
Secondly, A major flaw for them would be that the metal arm would most likely be more breakable then their natural, tree thick bones which have all the elasticity and hardness to make something that few people imagine even capable of breaking. Most metal parts on a giant would be weaker. Maybe a very simple gear and axe mechanism in place for an arm would be able to hold like their flesh, but a complex mechanized hand would not.
For Giants I propose that they are limited to only the most simple of cybernetic augmentations, things sturdy enough to survive their day to day lives that could be feasibly done. Replacing a hand with a Cannon with a rotating mechanism for cannon balls would be okay, where a full automatic prosthetic limb would not even be Possible. Going on the scale above I gave, Giants wouldn't be able to take anything above E-Rank Cybernetics.
Fishmen: Fishmen are an interesting idea. You'd think it cool to put all these cool doodads and doohickeys on them thinking it could give them a lot of power, but really, it wouldn't work well.
Firstly the Fishman is a powerful being, on average being 10 times stronger than a human. Such dense muscles would be stronger than any cybernetic limb could ever be. If a human man can train each arm to lift 100 lbs, a fishman can do 1000, some breeds more. No mechanical arm complex enough for advanced motion would be capable of matching that. Meaning any replaced body parts on a fishman would be dramatically weakened. A powerful arm capable of lifting a grown man is only a fifth as strong as a trained fishman.
Secondly water is an issue, complex moving parts, water sensitive electronics all must be sealed in a closed pressure safe environment for deep see swimming meaning protection, insulation and plating. This means that things involving energy would have to be sealed meaning the worst a fishman could hope to do without frying himself in the water is regular ballistic mods.
Thirdly, the energies of Fishman Karate or any martial art focusing as they did would not be possible with a mechanical limb. The parts would not be quick enough to flick water at a dangerous level. Nor would it be alive to channel the users natural energy into it.
Fishmen should be limited to D-Rank Cybernetics at the highest, as well as having to have a logical description of how it can work in deep water.
Merfolk: The merfolk face much the same issues as a fishman minus the parts being weaker. They'd still have all the water issues and issues with Fishman Karate, and should by extension share the same D-Rank limitation.
Non Marine/World Government Characters: There is only ONE big reason that they are limited. It is because the corner of the proverbial market, the best parts and cybernetics are the creation of Dr. Vegapunk.
As such I would propose all Non World Government characters be limited to B-Rank parts. As realistically the World Government is not going to invest their deadliest, top secret augmentations to anyone but their most trusted agents. And even then, chances are, they will put in some method to deal with any who go rogue.

Proposal 3: Cybernetic Show Room Thread
This one is for fun, creativity and to help inspire would by Cyborg People on what to do for their cybernetics. Basically people come in with cool ideas to share about ideas for parts. Whacky, zany ideas such as 'Missile Toes' and 'Grenadeyes'. So those who are having a hard time thinking up augmentations can look at a thread filled with colorful and diverse ideas on how to tech up your character. From the mundane, to the badass.
Remember, nearly half of Franky's cybernetics make no sense or have no purpose. Such as his button hair adaptation, it's just a cool extra.
