“Sorry to say, I don’t have time for your requests. Bring your sword if you like but we must move.”
Xavier was up and at the door in a flash, seemingly unconcerned with Alistair anymore. Taking out the small clipboard he had been carrying with random information tucked into it the LT ripped off the apparent top page and tossed it on the ground just outside the front door. Without turning around the Marine continued to speak.
“You had better hope that we find him quickly, I don’t have the patience for a wild goose chase.”
The sun was still on its way down now, and the streets were crowded with everyone walking the same direction. Of course Xavier had heard the Captain on the island give his order to bring all civilians to the center of the town. It was curious to go through such precautions for a simple snatch mission. Marines did this all day every day, what about these street fighters elicited this time of response? Regardless of all of that however Xaiver had a more pressing concern, like figuring out that one man’s bounty could increase that much that fast.
“Take me to the center of town, I need to sort this all out.” He ordered at Alistair. It was clear that something was on his mind now, but he still had the presence of being to lead his “captive” as such, never once looking around to see if the old man was still there. He could tell that this butler was a man on conscious, he knew that no man like that would run like a coward.
Stopping suddenly he allowed the older man in front of him and continued their small procession through the many bodies heading the same way.
Guns still trained on Greyson the Marines were all waiting for his next move. He had been much stronger than they had anticipated, and who would guessed that he had eaten a Devil Fruit. However, before anyone could make a move of their own a rustling from the back of the bar gave new relieve to the reality of the battle that had just transpired. Slowly, using the bar as a handrail Marv lifted himself up and into plain view behind Greyson. When he finally spoke his voice was deep, and somewhat fatherly. This was a good man that spoke to Greyson.
“You aren’t done yet. It’s not over until the enemy is dead kid. Fire.”
And just as everyone’s head had turned to look at this amazing scene the sound of rifles from around the room cracked into the almost eerie silence. Surely no young Zoan could transform that quickly, this fight was over. Or was it?
As Xavier and Alistair came upon the tall wooden wall that had been laid between streets as a barrier for whatever the hell was going on the Marine became even more curious as to the goings on inside. At the precipice the two guards looked at the lieutenant and allowed him entry, his left hand grasping Alistair’s strangely strong arm and guiding him into the secure area behind the square. Beyond stood dozens of people milling around, and in the center a single gallows. Atop that gallows two men were standing, one Marine Officer and a man dressed in a simple black suit. Guards were posted all around, but was it to keep people in our keep enemies out? Xavier’s fingers twitched for a reason he didn’t understand. Why was he so nervous? Surely he trusted the Marines here, why not? Looking to his butler captive the once rising star asked the question that had been pinching at the back of his head day
"What is going on here old man? Something is wrong?”
