Name of Island: Resinbar
Size of Island: Big. 226, 531 sq mi
Location: Grand Line [Dream Route]
Flora and Fauna:
Due to the hot and dry climate, few species are able to survive in this hardcore, barren land. It's very difficult to live here if you don't know the land and it's native species.
Cacti is abundant, and growing in patches that dot the land. Cacti here ranges in size and shape, from small and round like the Sphere Cactus to tall and branched like the Arm Cactus. Of course, the cacti are filled with juices, but not all should be cut open and drunk. There are lots of different types of cactus, and some have strange juices. Particularly the Tasty Cacti, which vary in color but all tend to be shaped like the fruit they mimic, but still have needles.. For example, the Orange Cactus is a bright orange and is circular, and when cut open, leaks orange juice. Watermelon Cactus are shaped live ovals and have streaks of light green and dark green. As you might be able to predict, Watermelon cactus has watermelon juice. The most famous Tasty Cactus is the Beer Cactus, which is brownish in color, and shaped like a beer keg. Tasty Cacti grows in captivity, and can very rarely can be found in the wilderness. It's said that you can find them at unmarked oasis's.
However, a general rule of thumb, if it the cactus isn't green, you shouldn't drink from it. Be careful, though. Some species infest in cactus and poison it. Particularly the White Widow, a ghostly white spider that burrows inside plants or to lay poisonous eggs that weaken the host. When they hatch, they eat the host alive. These tiny white eggs are difficult to see, but if exposed to moonlight, glow, as does the White Widow.
The only other two species that can poison a cacti are the Datura flower and the Foeworm. All poisons on the island have a cure, but not all of them are necessarily easy to find.
The Datura flower is pretty easy to spot- it's an innocent-looking white flower that looks like a trumpet. While cute, this flower also has a deadly toxin that, if even inhaled too much by a human, will numb your senses and then kill, if action is not taken.
They're a pest too- they suck the water out of the surrounding areas and plants. For example, Datura will bloom on top of a cactus or in a patch of other plants. This means that the plants are poisoned, and if too much is consumed, you'll a numb, painless death.
Sometimes you'll see beautiful white fields filled with these flowers, but don't go in them if you don't want to get sick. If Datura poison is inhaled, you only need to move to an area with clean air. It will leave the body within a day if you let the air filter it out and bear through the sick feeling.
If you spend three hours in Datura, you'll feel numb. After five hours, you'll be devoid of any pain. You'll be dead before ten hours. If you happen to leave the Datura field, you'll feel sick. The more time spent in the Datura, the more sick you'll feel if you leave. Datura is also harvested and used in a humane lethal injection for criminals.
The Foeworm is a fat white worm that digs into the long roots of a cactus and absorbs the water, while secreting a thick, white, gooey paste, which is toxic. You'd have to be an idiot to eat it, though. It'll make you horribly sick first, and depending on how much is consumed, you'll die of it in a week, if medical action is not taken.
Other poisonous plants include the rare Dogbark, a thin white plant that looks like a sickly tree that usually doesn't get taller than four feet. In the spring, it blossoms a small, practically transparent flower with thin petals, which is the antidote to the poisonous bark of the Dogbark tree. The Dogbark tree is famous for the drug it makes in combination with it's flower, called "A Taste of Hell" because it simulates death.
Of course, there's more to Resinbar's native flora than just poisonous plants. Dry green shrubs survive in less extreme areas of this desert, usually accompanied by the thorny brown thickets Vern Brush, and the thin hollow stalks of Ruhp Grass that spur up randomly from the dry, cracked earth. Stinging Bee Nettles should be left alone too- if you let one of their needles stab you, it'll feel like a bee sting. Usually, wild flowers sprout underneath these, thriving in the protection of their barbs. In contrast to the mean plants that commonly sprout in this land, there's plenty of innocence in the flora. Sweet wildflowers burst from the ground in random patches. Like the yellow Aden Poppies, long blue Baby Eyes, and delicate pink Toe Shoes.
There are also plenty of edible desert plants too. Orange Bellure are a species of flower that grown in bushels- the bright orange blossom is bitter, but edible, and rather easy to spot in the desert. The Poura Pod plant is a pale green thin, tree like plant that is usually about six feet tall, with thin branches that droop from the weight of each pod, which are each slightly smaller than a tennis ball. Inside each pod is a coven of sweet, grape-sized soft brown fruit. A welcome sight in the desert, certainly. The thick roots of Barba plant are dry, but very nutritious and are a antidote for the Foeworm's pasty venom. The Barba plant is a short, round, purpley-green cabbage shaped plant. Sometimes you can find Tobacco plants, which are good for bites. Marble Grass is a dark blue and green, and likes to grow around cactus. It has a moist, tangy, mint taste and its light blue flowers, which are also edible, taste bitter. The petite flowers of Marble Grass also helps fight against Datura poison. Lastly, the Kale Shrub is a small tangle of vines that have edible nuts the size of a walnut. They taste horribly bitter, but are very nutritious and gives you a burst of energy.
In oasis's and near water, fruit trees grow, and a particularly bright plant called The Savior that grows near water. It earned its name from the fact that you can see it from miles away, due to its metallic flowers that reflect light.
The children around Resibar like to sing a nursery rhyme about the desert: "White for death, green for life, but a flash in the distance means water in rife."
Like Resinbar's flora, the fauna here is suited to the heat and dry air. In the desert, the wildlife tends to be smaller than a toaster. Prey animals like kangaroo rats, jackrabbits, field mice, armadillos, squirrels, and opossum have to be either fast or quick-witted to survive. There are stranger animals here too, like the legendary jackalope.
There are also reams of nasty critters here. Rattlesnakes, Gilla monsters, foxes, vultures, hawks, coyotes, scorpions, jackals- all of which would attack a human. The birds here are particularly mean- especially the vultures, who have been known to attack and even steal possessions. The vultures in these deserts can sometimes be as big as carriages, and could probably pick up one too. Hornet-Hawks are just as bad. Big, red eyes and a lean body covered in yellow feathers with a black stripe pattern. Their long beak is black and glints murderously in the sun. They travel in groups, and
Scorpions stick around their birthplace, but be careful not to kill any, or the Mother Scorpio will get you back. The Mother Scorpion has enough venom to kill a Sea King, and is massive in size.
Desert Flamigos are pretty to look at because of their lovely pink hue, but are very mischievous, and have been known to flash glass in the distance to mislead travelers into moving off the path and heading towards what they think is an oasis.
Cactus Hedgehogs are a docile species of hedgehog that have taken on the appearance of a Sphere Cactus, and even have bright red flowers that bloom on their quills. While they also eat insects, the cactus-like growth on their bodies absorbs sunlight and needs water, which is why Cactus Hedgehogs have enormous claws that can rip through the earth to get water. They're also generally pretty friendly towards travelers. Some people keep them as pets.
Lizards come in all shapes and sizes, but Travel Lizards are as big as horses, and are used to cross the desert quickly. There are other rideable animals, like the Fanged Desert Llama- a breed of llama that has a short coat and very sharp teeth. They spit, too. Sometimes people have large vultures as pets, but they've known to be unreliable. Of course, horses are the norm too. People in this Resinbar adore horses, since roams of wild horses and ponies roam the desert. Desert horses are different than real horses- they're tougher and very fast, but also very wild. Nothing in the desert messes with a desert horse; their large herds would stampede over anything that got in the way. They've been known to save humans, which is why they're so popular. However a desert horse is extremely difficult to catch, and even harder to train. Desert ponies are easier to catch, but more difficult to train.
Inhabitants: There are plenty of people in Resinbar, but they're all tough as nails. They stick out for each other, too. Civilians here have no problem with pirates who have no manners. This country is full of cowboys and cowgirls; in fact, cow-herding is the most popular job for young adults. Most people like to farm and have livestock. Many people don't have a good education here- in exchange, they know more about life and work. Heck, some adults can't even read. Some of the newer generations are getting better educations, though. However, not everyone has such an active lifestyle. Some people choose some more docile jobs, like a doctor or a librarian, which is totally accepted in the community. All native people from here speak with a characteristic southern drawl.
NPCS: None yet.
Town(s)/Village(s)/City or Cities: Resinbar has a lot of small towns and communities that dot the land, and some aren't on maps. You'll rarely find some one who isn't native without any of these.
Porter Town

Cactus Town
This tough-as-nails town was built on the outskirts of the Cactus Forest. Just about everything is made from cactus, from the houses to the bowls. The cacti that grows here grows to abnormally, due to the minerals in the ground. Tasty Cactus grows in abundance here. The people here are very welcoming, and always enjoy a party. People here are happy to share, but if you have less than kind intentions, residents can easily hold their own. West.
Snooker City
A shady gambling city up on the north coast, with a cast of all sorts rude folk. Generally, Snooker Town is avoided as much as possible. Criminals who ended up in Whiskey Town were probably originally from Snooker Town, usually because of a debt. As despised as the city is, it has a history and saved Resinbar because it brought people to the country, even if for dishonest intent. Snooker City has docks, but isn't considered a port. North coast.
Grave Town
A complete ghost town. During a plague, the sick were sent here to prevent spread. Graves litter the town. Refugees take shelter here sometimes, in an attempt to stay out of harm's way. Southwest.
Other locations include:
Cactus Forest
A stretch of forest located on the western coast. It takes up the majority of the west coast, making it very difficult to dock, due to the large destructive spines on the oversized cacti that grow here. Cacti here grows out of control, sometimes growing as tall as sky scrapers, due to the rich minerals in the soil. It's very difficult for regular humans to get around here because thorns stick out every which way. The Cactus Forest is shady and blocks the ground from sun, making it cool during the day. There aren't too many animals hardy enough to live here, but the ones that can live in abundance because of lack of predators. Birds especially. Because humans rarely venture here, it's not a bad hiding place for those who can live with those who don't mind a massive thorn in their side.
Vulture's Canyon
The most dangerous place in Resinbar, where nothing lives except the animals who don't mind eating bones for meals, most notably the vultures. Water is very difficult to find here, and most of it is contaminated. Entrances to the Dusk Caverns are easier to find here. You're more likely to find drinkable water in the caverns, but the further you go in, the harder it becomes to get out.
Dusk Caverns
A series of dangerous tunnels than exist throughout Resinbar. It's a quintessential labyrinth. Entrances to the Dusk Caverns have been reported to be in Vulture's Canyon, Charsten Town, and Cactus Forest, but almost no one is willing to venture in because few come out safely. Giant carnivorous moles roam these tunnels, and bats line the walls. It's rumored that there's a river that runs through, but no one has proven it. The alleged river runs into the sea from a secret cove somewhere.
Secret Cove
A cove located on the very southern tip of Resinbar. A stiff cliff face surrounds it, but on low tide, a large cavern mouth can be seen. From it, a freshwater river flows through. The cavern could fit a small submarine or boat, but anything bigger risks damage.
