Okay, Logia... We love em' we hate em', but now with the Ban, we talk about them alot! Why? Because we love forbidden stuff. As a result, im going to take this time to write up my opinion on Logia in general so that they can be better understood, and with better understanding, hopefully the unbanning of Logia.
What is a Logia?
It is a fruit that allows someone to become, manipulate, and generate an element; personifying nature. The major ones have already been observed in canon form by the Admirals and many other powerful marines and pirates alike. (It will be interesting to see how Caribou's Logia works out).
Why not this!?
Water Logia -- One weakness of all devil fruits is the inability to swim. If the eater is made water, then they will effectively drown in themselves. It contradicts its own laws as a devil fruit, and thus a water based Logia cannot exist.
What about logia like steam or cloud? Aren't they water? --
You see, they don't exist in just a liquid, swimmable state. Technically, the weaknesses include inability to swim and inability to contact sea water. Thus, Logia that use none-liquid water are 'okay'. Steam, heated water vapor, and clouds, condense water vapor, are two natural elements that incorporate water without contradicting devil fruit laws.
Wind Logia -- Wind isn't an 'element' as much as it is an event. It could possibly fall under the Paramecia type, however, by definition, wind is simply a movement of gasses, on earth, this is due to changes in pressure on the earth surface. You yourself can create wind by blowing air out of your lungs. There is not one thing that constitutes wind as a tangible element, and thus isn't a Logia.
Periodic Table Logia -- There are MANY possibilities by simply taking 'X' element on the periodic table. Thus 'X X' no mi... While there may very well be exceptions, the majority of periodic table elements could never be Logia. Why is this? Pure manifestations of periodic table elements only exist in extreme of contained situations; as when they interact with the world around them, including the air itself, they change. Logia of this fashion would be unable to control themselves; for their pure elemental self would be tainted at first exposure to real world environments.
Vegitation based Logia -- These would be based off something made by another living thing. After all, plants are living things to begin with. Vegetation may be Paramecia, but not Logia.
By rule, anything man made shouldn't be a Logia. So if you can think of it... and it doesn't appear without people making it appear, then surprise, it may be a paramecia, but not a Logia.
What about Earth Logia?
There should be ONE Earth Logia. A single individual who can control rocks... in rock form. That is, Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic Rocks, in a general sense. There shouldn't however be specific Logia for each individual element comprised in the broad scale of what we consider 'earth'. Why is this?
Looking at the Logia Akainu, I noticed that there are not yet specifications as to the limit of his power. He is a Lava Logia, and as any basic Geology class will teach you, there are different types of Lava based on all sorts of factors of what the Lava is made out of, but the Logia fruit doesn't specific nor does it exclude any sort of Lava. It is assumed that the use of Lava in it's many forms is up to the discretion and experience of its user.
Thus Earth, also made up of many different things and coming in many different forms, shouldn't be separated into little specifications, but rather one Logia whose abilities are restricted to how earth appears in nature as well as the experience of the fruit user. For that reason I believe... Stone Stone, Earth Earth etc., should be a single fruit.
Thus, of the current DF book... these are the ones I dont believe to be authentic Logia. Keep in mind, "Filler" or "movie" Logia are excluded from normal OP rules, and thus may themselves be flawed.
-Candy Candy Fruit: From the movie right? Candy is made from human manufacturing, and though there are plenty of naturally sweet things in nature, none of them come together in a fashion to form actual Candy.
-Paper Paper Fruit: Refined from wood, leather, or other by products of living things, Paper is, again a Filler Logia, that is a result of human manufacturing.
-Pachinko Pachinko Fruit: This one is just ridiculous, sorry to Flame, but this isn't even close to being a Logia.
-Liquid Nitrogen Fruit: Not only is it basically Aokiji's ability, but Liquid Nitrogen only comes to exist in extreme or human manufactured instances.
-Building Block Fruit: In the same bucket as Pachinko man...
-Chlorine Fruit: Periodic Element Argument
-Metal Metal: Mercury, Lutetium: Periodic Element Argument
-Glue Glue: Human manufactured. Though there are natural adhesives, the majority of them are the product of a living thing.
-Leaf Leaf: Product of a living thing
-Hair Hair: Product of a living thing
-Thread Thread: Product of a living thing/man made
-Plasma Plasma: Plasma is like wind in that it is more of an event than an element in itself. In fact, it is considered another state of matter along side liquid, solid and gas.
-Pepper Pepper: Product of a living thing/man made
-Plant Plant: Product of a living thing
-Seed Seed: Product of a living thing
-Fart Fart: Product of a living thing/man made
-Paralysis Paralysis- A fruit that makes you into a paralyzing gas? Toss this into the ridiculous pile with the Lego men. Trolawlz
-Phosphorous: Periodic Table Argument.
Ruby Ruby: If Crystal is a Paramecia, then this Ruby is as well.
Petal Petal: Product of a living thing
Crystal Crystal: If Crystal is a Paramecia, then this Ruby is as well.
Chocolate Chocolate: Product of a living thing/man made
Ink Ink: Product of a living thing/man made
Bamboo Bamboo: Product of a living thing
Liquid Liquid: See water logia.
Grain Grain: Product of a living thing
That being... the majority of them...
Hopefully my argument seems solid. With any luck, this can help clean up the Logia section, both in our minds and in the book. They are rare because few things in our world are left to the basics of nature. They are rare because they are powerful. By making it clear that Logia are hard to discover, I think it will make unbanning them worth it; because then people will attempt to look to the world for new and useful Logia ideas!
So please, dont ban logia, just clean em up a bit!
