It was a bright, sunny day on the island. Gaul had just arrived the night before, and after putting his boat into port he had rented a room in an inn. As he walked down the streets, he noticed the repairs being done throughout the city as old, torn down buildings were being repaired. The townspeople all seemed to be doing their part to make things better, but there was an undercurrent of sadness among them all.
As he studied the old buildings, Gaul realized that the city had recently been attacked by a group of pirates, and they had been particularly destructive. He talked to a few of the townspeople and learned that they about a year ago they had been attacked by pirates and most of their town had been destroyed. They had been saved by a young pirate who was the leader of the notorious Strawhat crew. With a nod of acceptance, Gaul had moved on and continued wandering around.
Adjusting the large scythe on his back, he turned out of an alleyway onto a busy street. By the numerous shops he decided that this was the town's market street and people were going about shopping for groceries and such. He smiled, finding it funny how even when recovering from tyranny businesses were still important to the function of society. Ignoring all of the shops he pauses has a poster, showing a missing dog.
After reading it he sees that the dog was apparently kidnapped by pirates, and the townspeople were all offering a sizable reward to anyone who would return him. Checking his wallet, Gaul realized that he was almost flat broke at this point and that he would be needing money soon if he was going to continue his search for his sister. "Well I guess I don't have much choice here...," he mutters to himself, "If I'm going to continue my search I'll need some money. I wonder who I talk to about this."
