Gentle Soul

Yukiko is gentle by nature. She’s quiet mannered, approaches things with a comforting, soft demeanor. This makes her bedside manner second to none. She prefers to refrain from violence when possible, and lets chaos roll over her like gentle waves, unperturbed by it.

Loving Mother

Having lost her original family as an orphan and been adopted by the Momochi family, Yukiko’s family is very important to her. She was fortunate enough to have children of her own, whom she loves more than life itself. She would do anything for them. Absolutely anything.

True Swordswoman

Despite her gentle nature or perhaps in spite of it, Yukiko possesses a calm that has deepened her focus in swordsmanship. Perhaps more than medicine, Yukiko has devoted herself to swordsmanship. She carries herself with pride and honor. Her most solemn wish is to become the world’s greatest swordsman and devote herself fully to the craft.

Obsessive Researcher

One of Yukiko’s greatest faults or virtues, depending on how one looks at it, is her almost single minded approach to study. This applies to her swordsmanship as well as her ventures in science. It’s an all consuming desire for knowledge that will keep her up and huddled away from the world until her thirst to know is quenched.

Goofy Glutton

As serious as Yukiko can be, she has a sillier side. She enjoys playing and goofing around. She definitely loves to eat and drink and can do that until she passes out. Her love for the drink has given her a pretty high tolerance to it. Most of all, she just wants to enjoy life with her family.

Cursed with Terminal Illness

Yukiko has an illness that saps her energy and gives her a nasty cough that makes her hack up blood. As a result, she can’t perform strenuous activity for very long. If she does, her condition will worsen. This illness is supposedly the work of the Devil Fruit user that stole her child.

Yukiko has thick, luxurious, white fur covering her whole body. Her hair is the same white as her fur with navy colored streaks. Her eyes are a piercing icy blue. Her claws are a lustrous black. She has a big bushy tail that she keeps immaculately groomed so that they shimmer in the light.

Yukiko typically wears traditional Wano clothes. She prefers long flowing kimonos and veils to hide her Mink heritage. When preparing for combat, she’ll throw off her flowing gown and reveal a wrap around her chest and hakama pants with her blade at her side.

Being a Mink allows Yukiko to generate an electrical charge from her thick fur to empower her close combat attacks. The electricity that Yukiko generates is blue in color, fluctuating from lighter blues to darker navy blues.

With intense practice and repetition, Yukiko has mastered the art of cutting heat and flame. So skilled is she with a blade that she can slice through the air to generate eerie blue flames. She can cut through fire and heat as easily as if it were paper. This ability can be used defensively to allow Yukiko to protect herself from the effects of heat or flame based attacks.

Such is Yukiko's mastery of heat cutting that she can cut through it and instantly drop the temperature of whatever she cuts. This drop in temperature is so extreme that it actually flash freezes whatever the blade touches, whether it be the water vapor in the air, water, or even flesh.

Kyūshitō (九支刀) "Ninestrike"

The Ninestrike is among the ranks of the Wazamono. It has eight prongs on either side of the blade and one tip, making it a nine-branched sword. These prongs are suited for catching oncoming blades and trapping them, allowing the user to break an opponent's blade while also being sharp enough to slash and pierce foes. A legend surrounds the Ninestrike, lauding it as a cursed, demonic blade of ill omen. It's been said that the Ninestrike once slayed a god in the form of a white celestial dragon, removing its constellation from the night sky. The blood of the dragon stained the black blade's metal blue and its tears fell on the prongs, making them gleam like gold. Owners of this cursed sword are said to be possessed by blood lust that can only be sated by the divine, leading them to an early grave. The inscription on the blade is written in an indecipherable ancient language, lost to time, though many believe it to describe the dragon's curse. This sword, however, is just a really convincing replica of the actual Ninestrike.

Description:

Generating an electrical charge in her fur and transferring it to her sword, Yukiko performs a ferociously powerful and swift slash. Electricity travels down her blade and into whatever she strikes, creating a loud boom akin to thunder.

Name: Kyūzō (急増) "Surge"

Description:

Charging her legs with electricity, Yukiko is able to surge forth at such speeds that she becomes practically invisible to those incapable of tracking high speed movements, making her seem to disappear and leaving behind a streak of lightning in her path. If she's incapable of using electro, this technique can be negated.

Name: Homura Saki (焔裂き) "Flame Split"

Description:

In the face of an oncoming fire attack, Yukiko readies her sword and slices through flames or explosions, letting the flames pass harmlessly on either side of her as she does so. Flames that come into contact with her sword turn a ghostly blue as she carves her way through the flame.

Description:

Description:

Slashing through the heat in her target, Yukiko slices deep into her target with incredible strength and blinding speed, causing sharp ice crystals to rapidly form and burst out from whatever she's cut. Description:

With one massive swing of her sword, Yukiko creates four flying slashes originating from herself. They travel across the ground outward from her in a cone shape, allowing her to strike at multiple lines of enemies at once.

Description:

Yukiko was abandoned when she was just a child at about six years of age. Her earliest memory was winter in Wano under a giant cherry blossom tree. The snow was falling, but the tree shielded her from it with its long branches like a tender embrace. It was fortunate that the tree happened to be on the property of the Momochi family. They found her and took her in despite her appearance, more than a little surprised when she began to walk upright and talk.

Still, they kept her and loved her, but Yukiko always wondered where she came from. Whenever she tried to remember anything earlier than the cherry blossom tree, she got horrible headaches. Eventually, the edge of her curiosity dulled and was overridden by more immediate concerns. The Momochi family was in trouble financially. Money and food were harder and harder to come by. When Yukiko turned thirteen years old, she took up two apprenticeships to earn money for her family, one with an apothecary and one with a swordsman dojo.

Yukiko found that she had talent with both medicine and the blade. She helped save her family money whenever any of them fell ill by acting as an in house doctor, going out into the forest and gathering the ingredients needed to make the necessary medicine. Her family had been against her taking an apprenticeship, let alone more than one, so Yukiko kept her sword practice a secret from her family, aspiring to become a bounty hunter when she was old enough to register.

That day soon came when she turned eighteen. After five hard years of intensive training in both the fields of medicine and swordsmanship, Yukiko registered to become a bounty hunter and left home, leaving a letter behind to explain her absence. Her first bounty was a close call. His name was Miyagi Goto, a thief who had stolen a sword belonging to Wano.

Yukiko pursued him all the way to the Blues where she eventually managed to corner him. In the ensuing battle, Yukiko was wounded, but in the end, claimed the reward and earned the sword as a bonus. From then on, she continued working as a bounty hunter, sending back any money she earned home. She did this for many years and eventually found a partner in an attractive young man.

After working together for a while, Yukiko found herself smitten by him and eventually had a child with him. Unfortunately, for his own reasons, he left her alone with the baby. Heartbroken, she took a break from bounty hunting and turned to medicine in order to make a living to support herself and her newborn baby. She kept up practice with the sword, but her mainstay now was medicine.

Still, Yukiko was happy and loved her child. In fact, she adored having a family so much that she adopted several children in her journey as a traveling doctor. Yukiko felt like she had much in common with abandoned children, having been abandoned herself as a child. It rekindled her curiosity into where she came from, if only as a passing fancy.

Unfortunately, those happy days came to an end. While she was out with her firstborn child, Yukiko was ambushed by a coalition of enemies from her bounty hunting days. They severely injured her and stole her child from her. Horrified and seething with icy rage, Yukiko spent months recovering from the attack, still doing what she could to support the children still with her. Once she had recovered enough, Yukiko set out with her remaining children, a bounty hunter once more.

She hit up her contacts, trying to find her stolen child, dealing with the struggles of raising kids on the road. Yukiko also took on higher and higher bounties to try to spoil her children and have more extra money to send back home. Unfortunately, this relentless and reckless pursuit attracted the attention of some very unsavory individuals. Yukiko quickly discovered that she had bitten off much more than she could chew when they subdued her and threatened her with a fate worse than death before knocking her out.

When she woke up, Yukiko was afflicted with an unknown respiratory disease. She grew short of breath much easier and too much exertion made her unable to breathe. The bounty, Amelia Moreau, explained to Yukiko in no uncertain terms that she would die slowly and painfully unless Yukiko could defeat her and, presumably, retrieve the cure. She then sent her lackeys to beat Yukiko senseless in her weakened state and left her for dead.

Yukiko managed to survive and return to her children, battered and broken. With the clock running down and limited time to find and save her lost child, Yukiko kept up the search, putting up bounties of her own for the capture and safe return of her child. Desperation and despair creeping in, Yukiko did all she could to keep up a happy face for the children that remained.

Adventure Log

• Rooted Hate
  
  A fateful encounter between bounty hunter Yukiko Momochi and pirate Diango Porchez, the two meet in a burning casino as Diango attempts to kill a vile noble named Marak who might have a clue as to the whereabouts of Yukiko's stolen child. Marak escapes due to Yukiko's interference, but the two join forces to take him down once and for all. After a thrilling assault on Marak's fortress, they manage to bring him down. Afterwards, Yukiko and Diango share a tender moment and make a promise to see each other once again before finally parting ways.
