With a little smile, Mr Barker nodded. He was nervous… though it wasn’t that his own feelings might have changed but rather hers toward him. He had to give their relationship more faith than that, however, and face it confidently. What they had was real, after all, not something fickle enough to be destroyed at the first obstacle… even though it was quite a large one.
“Thanks, I have no doubt we’ll have your full support.” Tedd chuckled, turning to her as they reached the entrance to the hotel. “This is my place - for now. Not forever. As nice as it is to be doted on by room service, long hotel stays aren’t really my thing.”
He was quite taken aback, however, when she stretched her arms out for a hug and couldn’t help narrowing his eyes on her, eyebrow raised.
“No tricks…” he uttered his warning, giving a quick scan for any bodies of water in the vicinity. Nevertheless, he leaned down to her to close the gap between them in heights and gave her a tight hug. A gentle pat on the back later, he let go and straightened up.
“Thanks for tonight. After the unexpected swim, the night didn't turn out that bad.” Admitting the truth with a little snicker, he gave something of a shrug.
“Take care of yourself Lizzie.” With that, he turned around and entered the hotel to head to his room. As fun as the night was with his newest companion, it certainly shed light on one thing… he was getting too old for parties!
