Seere #8
“I didn’t come to negotiate,” Lord Moon stated with cold intent. “I am the line that should never be crossed.” Such a proclamation would have been amusing and worth a bout of laughter, had it not been for the intense frustration that was welling up with Almadel Seere. That, and an honest bit of caution that served to temper an otherwise fiery response to such things. Indeed, she had noted that those of her ranks that were privy to this dispute had taken a back foot, perhaps testament to how keen an edge a man without a sword was wielding.
Her eyes narrowed.
“To say you lack willpower and ambition would be the understatement of the century, Lord Moon,” Seere exhaled, appreciative of the man’s ethereal qualities but arguably unfazed due to his lack of tangible ones. “But what would you rather be? The man who slaughtered the ‘invaders’ of his kingdom? Or the man who helped ingrain the roots of a corrupt regime? You know as well as I that history will only dare to remember you as one or the other, if either at all,” she retaliated. Equally palpable was the intensity with which she said those words.
“But the better question is… why are you wasting your time and energy with me, when you would have an equal—if not an easier shot at persuading the Toroan royalty to integrate themselves with my vision? Or do I need to explain that further?” A legitimate query on the Giantess’ part. After all, he had already admitted he cared little for the overarching rulership. “And as I said: If the capital falls under an offensive of my making, it is because its residents have drawn first blood…”{Post Synopsis:—}
