Ayano #8 — Natalie #8
“Phew! The two of you sure are something~!” Natalie chirped, taking a moment to congratulate Deman and Ayano on their demonstration of respective swordplay as she packed up her things. “Glad you’re just cutting flames—wouldn’t wanna be on the receiving end,” she mused with a mischievous smile, prompting a slightly disgruntled exhalation to come from her compatriot. All the same, the burning brunette was soon ready to depart from her chosen space before too much attention was drawn, eyes soon settling on a large green frog that at first seemed to enter the scene of its own accord.“It’s so fluffy!!”“We better go talk,” Deman uttered:
“I have a feeling they may know more…”
… It made sense. Something had been bugging Ayano since the night before. Her opponent had been an unusual one, but she couldn’t help but find it suspect that the description of said foe seemed to match the description—albeit with some differences—of the animal that Mister Averso had been accompanied by. So far, she had dismissed it as coincidence, and was more than willing to continue to do so until proven otherwise. Better not to become lost in the weeds; answers would be given in due time.
“This is the place, right?” Angelica asked.
“Yeah, but…,” Miss L’Estrange spoke as she compared the mental imagery of her previous visit just a day prior to what was now quite barren and bare. “It looks like it’s completely deserted,” she affirmed, momentarily losing some of that ‘spark’ she seemed to carry with her at all times. A part of her feared the worst—that their contact had been uncovered by those looking to snuff out problems before they could escalate. At the same time, he had been rather unassuming despite his flamboyance and curious choices in carnival presentation.“Someone’s inside.”
…? He heard them from out here? Miss Kōketsu noted. The sounds of the festivities drowned out most ambient noises, silencing completely the subtle sounds from her range of hearing. That was true of most people, to be frank, and that was why Mister Reeves’ sudden statement and course of action caught her unawares. He was able to tell where they were, as well as their current state, when I can’t hear anything? He must have very acute hearing, just like… A moment of recollection and reminiscence took hold, but the swordswoman quickly shook it off as the others entered the tent before her, casting a cautious yet subtle gaze about just in case they were being watched.“Who… who are you?”
“I’m Natalie,” the tanned one greeting, tempering her flame somewhat to show a warmth and compassion towards a younger man who certainly seemed in a worse emotional state than he should have been. Younger, blond, fair. An unknown factor. “I’m an acquaintance of Poco Averso,” she continued, approaching just enough to not seem too invasive but stancing herself in an open, definitively non-hostile manner. “He and I spoke just yesterday. What’s your name, sweetie? What’s got you…?”{Post Synposis:—}
Regrouping, the troupe visit to Poco’s tent, which they find mostly deserted save for a sobbing young man. Natalie tries to talk to him and figure things out one at a time.
