While Alphonse wandered into the office, Danielle waited outside with the two robots. She would occasionally peer inside to make sure everything was alright, keeping him in her vision through the glass window most, if not all, the time while he was inside.
Twenty minutes or so of almost perfect silence except for the occasional sound coming from the robots’ mechanisms, and Al emerged. He seemed quite pleased with himself, and it brought a smile to Danielle’s face. Of course, she was very aware of her own gain in all of this, and she was nothing if not grateful, but accepting his offer was for more than simply selfish reasons and greed. It seemed to bring him as much happiness that it brought her, if not more. Once he was ready, they walked on, one of her hands occupied with a bag while the other remained on her shoulder.
Moving at a pace that suited Al, Danielle took the time to enjoy the scenery they walked past, the sun shining its warmth on her face and the sound of the two robots’ jibber-jabber in the background. She quickly grew insensitive to their arguments and while she heard their words - or rather, Andrew’s - she hardly processed them.
The docks soon became visible, and the largest ship that floated there caught Danielle’s eye. That must be The Wellerman, she thought to herself. There was so much activity on board that Al’s bodyguard felt a little intimidated, and slightly saddened as she recalled her adventures on another ship with some people she considered very dear to her. Suppressing those emotions, she continued to advance by Alphonse’s side.
“It’s a nice ship…” she couldn’t help but gawk at it a little bit. "Larger than any ship I've ever been on before, there must be quite a large crew to man it." She was no expert, but could easily appreciate a vessel as magnificent as this one.
There wasn’t a shadow of a doubt in her mind - this will certainly be a trip to remember.
