Isolde #8
More timber cracked and splintered, both as Lahar Isolde landed, and as her adversary slowed himself. And then, for the first time, he spoke, stripping russet steel from his torso. Metal clattered upon the walkways that elevated the village above the soil, revealing no ordinary man, but something that actually provoked the winged woman’s confusion. The strange helm was but the last piece to fall, fully revealing the upper body of a strong, equine human the likes of which she had never seen.“Ehh?! You’re a…?!” Isolde cried with surprise:
“What… What are you…?”
Eyes narrowed, but no more words came. A blur of motion and sparks was the only answer she received as, once more with feeling, the thunderous warrior raced forth with sword at the ready. Even a Crowned Beast had its limits, and this false knight’s sheer velocity exceeded hers. But in the process of unleashing his true speed, her opposition had exposed himself once more, and in a way few could anticipate.
“Alright then,” Miss Lahar growled, letting her body lean forwards once more. Feet pressed into the timber platform, wood creaking and groaning from the horse-man’s speed as he closed the gap. There was no avoiding such speed as she had done before, but that was just fine. What kind of hero bore no marks for their deeds? Aggressively, Isolde too leaped forwards, claws splayed.“Kihot’ Drakona!”
Shrick! Shrick! Bzzzt! Shrick!
Sparks of blue and drops of red each flew alike from the inevitable clash of stallion and drake as they passed one another, now back to back by a few yards. Foreclaws stained with crimson had snagged fine hairs, but Isolde herself had not come out of the unorthodox joust unscathed. Tough scales had done their job, but her muscles rejected any attempt at spinning about to keep icy eyes upon her prey. Electricity coursed through her still; a lingering paralysis which stayed and stuttered her movements as she glanced down to her side. Steel had cut her flank, underarm, but had been dissuaded from piercing her heart.Knock… Knock…“Hmm… Thou art tenacious peoples,” the knight muttered:
“Do thine ears not hear the sounds of batt—?!”
Crack! The sounds of wood splintering and shattering filled the air, though Isolde could seldom turn to witness the cause. Fortunately for Titho, his plan had been surprisingly effective, for the initial chunk of door was rammed clean into the sickening squire’s shield, knocking the defensive wall out of his grasp and leaving him only with his morning star. Without a word, only a gasp of surprise and annoyance, the weapon twisted in his grasp to strike down upon the cause…{Post Synposis:}
Isolde eventually exchanges blows with her opponent by using her Kihot’ Drakona Technique, but doesn’t come out uninjured. Meanwhile, the knight fails to realise Titho’s disappearing act and ends up falling for his trick.{Isolde: Kihot’ Drakona}
Isolde swipes at her target with her claws in her Half-Beast form to deal significant damage.{Isolde: Half-Beast}
Isolde can also achieve a hybrid state between her regular self and her Full-Beast form, retaining humanoid features but growing to a height of 8’6” (259 cm) and developing blue scales upon most of her body, excluding the lower jaw, throat, chest, and stomach area. She becomes somewhat more muscular, with clawed hands and more dinosaurian legs, complete with a powerful tail. Much of her head becomes more reptilian, and develops a red-pink crest upon her crown. She maintains her wings, which scale up proportionally.
