Gabriel #16
“What? No, this is out of question. The cottage was build for people pursuing the noble goal of discovering the true history of this place, we can not simply...break into it as some common burglars!”
He said indigently.
“But don´t worry, I was joking about you diving. As a gentleman there is no way I would let you endanger yourself instead of me.”
With that Gabriel took his assistant to the pond. Natural body of water with circular shore that was located circa three hundred meters away from the cottage. It was nice, almost romantic place with the old trees, carpet of moss and crystal clear pond right next to the tall rock, with several broken pieces lying around the shore.
“If Beckett is correct this place is connected to a huge cave complex that is spanning several kilometers in length, however as for now it´s only theory, because the whole place is flooded and he still didn´t found any fishman who would be willing to go down there and map it out.”
The professor started his lecture as he was taking down his jacket and shirt so he would have something dry and warm to dress after he´ll get out from the water.
“It´s shame, because he has nice theory about the earliest inhabitants of this island using the caves as their homes before they were flooded.”
With that he took his socks of and got ready to the diving.
“Alright time to go...”
Moon wanted to count down his own start, but Myra did it for him. As he looked to the right, he noticed she is standing on an elevated stone, that looked not only slippery but also quite shaky.
“Watch out or...”
He didn´t finished his sentence as at the moment Myra slipped and fell into the water. Cursing for himself, Gabriel rushed to the pond ready to jump in and save his manager, but it looked like she is handling the situation pretty well. Just a minute of swimming and she was up with the key.
“Hey, I told you I will do it, but still, good job!”
Gabriel smiled and reached for Myra to help her out of the water. He had no doubts that she slipped and fell there accidentally, but decided to play the game with her and preserve her ego and dignity. After all he was gentleman.
“Here, take it”
He wrapped her in his jacket, and took her back to the cottage. There was old yet comfortable chair right in front of a stoves and a supply of dry wood ready to be set on fire. Less then five minutes after their arrival the stoves was lit, releasing pleasant heat to the cottage.
