Electricity sparked and crackled, sending the Cyborg into a stumbling, flailing frenzy. Such a thing offered exactly what Sam needed — a reprieve for his partner whose skull had been pushed halfway into soil and dirt. She, too, seemed somewhat stunned by the discharged burst of static; a consequence of being in contact with something metallic, conductive. Even so, save previous wounds, a bloodied nose, and a dazed look on her face, she seemed fine.“Oi! Don’t you run from me!”“Sam…,” Miss Tate sputtered:
“Don’t worry about it.”
“What? Are you crazy?! He could’ve killed you,” snarled the Lion Mink as the heroine prised herself from the ground, lifting herself to her feet somewhat unsteadily. Despite wounds and all, she straightened up, chin up and hands upon her hips in a confident stance. A brilliant smile upon her lips would’ve been dazzling, if not for the small trail of blood that was smeared across her face. She was a bit shaky. She could feel that much — Sam could probably see it.“You’re going to let him run?” Sam quizzed:
“An arsonist? A madman? A potential killer?!”
“He’ll learn his lesson,” Lyla said, proudly and with certainty, watching as the silhouette vanished amongst the trees at a pace she knew she could not readily match. “I know he will,” came the confident words, “because I let him go!”“Y— You…!?” her sidekick grimaced:
“I wish I knew how your brain worked…”“Really?”
“No,” replied the maned man as he turned and walked back towards the town. Lyla laughed. But as she turned and followed, she could not help but glance back to the treeline and grin. Her heroics and selflessness — surely they would be a stepping stone, an inspiration, to drive the mysterious man with metal chicken legs to turn over a new leaf…{Status Tracker (Lyla):}
