"If I truly wanted your life, none of this is all that necessary. It just seems like your friend would rather skulk behind the scenes, and I felt this might be a way to draw him out." As he finished speaking, there was a small transponder snail placed by Gabriel, ready to relay his voice to the nearby loudspeakers. The Ensign stood nearby as the crowd began to gather, either to speak out against out against this injustice, or to see a head roll. Admittedly, the marine samurai felt a bit more strongly towards the former, still finding the crime of searching specific knowledge a sign of the fragility of the World Government's rule. It was this mindset that gave rise to menlike The one he was currently dealing with, who very clearly does not trust the marines or the world government
He had given it a few more minutes, his eyes scanning the group of people as it was likely that his culprit was in there. He hoped that Gabriel was doing the same, read to call out to him if he was able to recognize the man. But before that could even happen, the same girl who had come forward to let him know about Eric's message, started shouting out at him. As he listened to her, the ensign sighed, clearly seeing that she had been approached by the man again and was clearly brought over to his side. It was a shame as it was very clear she was being used. Once she finished, he looked at the group calmly before speaking. "I honestly have no idea who the man was, nor do I honestly care. But I am sorry that we clearly failed in protecting you." He then looked at her sternly. "I really do hope your realize that you mean very little to your so called saviour before it is too late. I fairly certain to him, you are just a means to an end. That he'll easily toss aside once his goal has been achieved. Because I didn't see a man trying to enact justice from that scene. I saw a wild beast venting his anger and rage on whomever he could. What happens if he decides to direct that at you next?" His voice then raised as he looked out to the angry, the enraged, and probably the bewildered.
He then pointed to Gabriel as he worked through his mind on what he could and could not say. "This man does not deserve to die, I don't disagree with that. But what he has learned is something that is feared by those at the top of the world. So much so that they would go to any lengths to avoid it getting out. Letting him go free would not only doom this island, but any island that he went to next, and also any that would potentially call him an ally or friend. While I don't agree with the law that has condemned this man, the alternative would be the cost of far more lives than his own." He let out a sigh, then his eyes narrowed as his expression turned stern, his voice booming out to the crowd.
"And that's true of the rest of you as well. This criminal, the one I called out earlier, is simply trying to use you all. He's not frow this island, and he could give a damn about what happens to the people that live here. He wants you to incite panic, and fear. He wants us both to fight so he can simply benefit from the chaos. And No one wins in that scenario except him. Because even if you win, no one wins for very long. And the result is always the bloodshed of those we care for." The man slowly and calmly unsheathed his blade, making no hostile action as he gripped one hand around the blade itself. "And I am willing to bleed for the people I was sworn to protect. Is that man willing to do the same?" With a slow pull, the blade sliced into the palm of his left hand, the crimson liquid already starting to trickle out before becoming a full torrent of blood as he held his palm out for the crowd. "I would gladly give it all, if it stopped others from doing the same without choice. But not to the whims of a man who would rather give into his rage and throw away the lives of everyone else in the process." He then looked back to Gabriel, the transponder snail ready to carry his voice should he decide to speak.
