"KIYAAAAHHHHhhhhh... ah....nn," Boshni's entire body lurched with the force of the kick, his oily little torched form slid some distance across the dock before stopping entirely.
His dressed flapped idly in the trade winds, the whole thing was ruined from a combination of high temperatures and brief amounts of combat. His jewelry was tarnished too a decent bit, no longer glittering or making that satisfying metallic clink when pieces caught or pushed against one another. Even Boshni's whiskers seemed to droop, his whole form looking a whole lot more flat against the wooden planks. Though the rhythmic rising and lowering of his chest seemed to indicate he was indeed still breathing. In his collapsed and blacked out state some weird dream played in his head, judging from his muttering and mutter of a triumphant laugh.
Miu had hit the guy so hard he was seeing his own stars, of course bellow deck it really just sounded like someone had dropped something really hard down. Nest's eyes shot up briefly before taking his blooded arm out of the water, flexing those clawed fingers into a fist and rushing the limb forward as if to bash in the hunters head! At that same moment Kites own knife-wielding hands rose out of the water, steel weaving around wet fingers, until the pommel was facing enemy flesh. The hard of the knife was heading for Nests temples! Seconds ticked by in slow motion, the cold of those razor sharp claws and huge fist closed in causing Kite even more adrenaline to flood his system and get his blood racing. The brunettes attack however interrupted that, a world came rushing back and Nests mouth flew open in shock following in place of his widened eyes. The pole arm smacked against his head, in his confusion of looking up briefly and getting ready to leap out of the water he received yet another crisp smack to both sides of his head. He jerked around some but ultimately fell face first onto the water and just slumped. Idly floating on the surface with his midsection tucked under the water.
His arm dropped letting Kite kick off the wooden pole of a dock leg, the structure groaning and creaking as he did so. Only instead of cleanly zooming forward he felt something get rolled off his leg, pain shot through the limb as did relief when whatever vice was holding his limb was shaken free. Idly wondering just what had grasped his left legs ankle, he got his answer in that same breath. Launched from below and now breaching the surface some centimeters ahead as a little baby turtle. It snapped its jaws at Kite some before whirling around with its tiny little flippers, apparently it just knew to race ahead to the barrels!
"I don't think so you little sea rat!" Kite hollered out, sheathing his blades under the waves and diving after the tiny critter.
Mere meters away with the barrels closing in fast Kite had dipped below the surface leaving Miu to simply guess what was happening. Although a few bubbles did rush to the surface, some kind of limbs kicked around stirring the water hinting about the struggle therein. Below the surface Kite was once again struggling in the dark trying to lace his fingers around cold slick reptilian skin. It was like trying to grasp a wet purse, and it was only at the expense of his last bit of oxygen that he breached the surface with a baby sea turtle in hand.
Its top heavy bobbing head chattered its beak, a shocked expression playing across those big black eyes. Almost looked like an animated stuffed animal what with the light green flesh mixing with blue and dark green across limb tips and shell. It strained and flailed a good bit even when Kite turned around in the water and started gently swaying the thing over by Miu, dipping it back and forth, shaking it like it was some kind of providence. Like finding a dove during a great deluge. Confident smirk and all Kite called out to the warrior on the docks making sure his voice rang out like a bell to the nearby sailors.
"What did you wanna do with the barrels? Thinking they'd make nice souvenirs but the sooner they're out of here the sooner we can add onto our reward. I'm sure Nest and Boshni have bounties of their own, even if all they did was bloat Hawes's," Kite took a deep breath before continuing, his bobbing being nearly identical to the barrels slowly drifting into shore and the hunters backside.
"That means more fish for you! If that's what you wanna spend it on, anyway," Kite stuck out his tongue closing one eye in a playful wink kind of way.
Apparently that Adrenalin had briefly removed the stick that was firmly shoved up his backside. He was expressing himself.
Happy ending or not those barrels were creeping inward yet still and were pretty close to coming up Kite, although unlike the dock his legs kicking around and keeping him afloat was forcing the browned shapes to divert and modify their trajectories. They'd pass him but would impact with the shore at anytime. Contrary to Miu's call to a potential bluff it's more than likely the barrels were stable until their ascension to the surface caused a drastic change in pressure. After all, most TNT or explosives were much more responsive to shock after poor storage and age. There was also the matter of that deliciously fuming crate that calmly orbited around Nest's downed form, that simple exterior and smell were unmistakable to Miu as being fish-like and the same exact crate hauled into the tent and then extracted minutes before.
The town also seemed to finally catch up to the duo's activity. Voices were starting to get closer to the docks as well as noises like footsteps. Even dock workers, sailors, the people hiding behind objects carefully crept out to investigate or round off to join the group of people heading this way.
