Her silence told him that she was thinking, but only the blade on his neck and the grip on his shoulders gave him any hint of what might be going through her head. Since the woman was behind him, Kyou could not see her face and even though there had been a mirror hanging on one of the walls, that piece of furniture lay broken in a corner and its scattered bits of broken glass were too small and angled in a way that made it impossible for him to see behind himself with them. All they showed was a part of the ceiling and that was just boring and unhelpful to his miserable situation.
Her grip on his shoulder tightened and Kyou got tense. Was she preparing to slit his throat? Should he act before it was too late? Maybe he could get away if he just used a Dash. Since the soru-like movement of his relied on a complex combination of relaxing and tensing his muscles, he could use it even though she pinned him down. Sure, there was the knife on his neck, but she might not get the time to use it and he doubted that she could hang on while he dashed. He'd likely still get a nasty cut on his neck, but it would be a lot better than just standing there like a stupid idiot and having your neck willfully cut open by your attacker while you did nothing.
Before he could decide to risk it however, the woman spoke again and asked more questions. Apparently she wasn't going to kill him just now. She did shift her grip however and made it even more uncomfortable for him.
"Wait? They're out of business?" Kyou wondered aloud. He hadn't known that.
"On second thought... does she mean the front business this organization is using - or was using - or does she mean the organization itself?"
There was just so many things he didn't know...
"Why didn't I prepare better..." He cursed himself.
In his surprise he must have moved a little, for the blade dug into his skin and a thin drop of bright red blood appeared on his neck. How was he supposed to give proper answers like this?! Slowly but surely she started to annoy him.
But she still held the blade and he had to consider his answer carefully. Should he lie or stay with the truth? Was it saver to appear as a friend or as an enemy of the people of Shadow's Reach? Both could be equally dangerous as Kyou had no clue what sort of underground group that woman belonged to.
He decided to go with ... a sort of the truth...
"Listen... I came here because someone told me that I could find people here who would offer... certain services ... I'm here looking to hire someone, that's all. I didn't mean to intrude on anyone's business... I was just curious why this place was in such a state."
