Looking back, over her shoulder as she was being questioned, Jade simply shook her head. "I do not know the layout of this island." There was a simple explanation as to why she had approached the man the way she had. "..I merely noticed something being off and investigated. Turns out my instincts were right. Now we have to find that troublemaker before things end up getting even worse." Stopping in her tracks, the whistling began. Looking towards the two civilians, she was clearly about to shout something, but she was just as quickly interrupted.
The whistling of cannonballs wasn't one that Jade was all too familiar with. There were those who could hear the sound and clearly tell where the impact was going to be. Then there was Jade, who had never encountered the phenomena before, and thus her answer had always been running forwards blindly. By sheer luck, she had avoided the impacts thus far, but that luck only lasted her so long. In her relentless pursuit of the pirates, a cannonball struck into the sand right besides her. It must've looked like a temporary sand geyser, as she was completely obscured from view. For all they knew, she might aswell have been blown to bits. It was a hit, though not a direct one. It resulted in the pirates laughing heartily as they stormed the beach. It was almost like they were partying within the chaos they were causing. That, and there was something ironic about it; The young warrioress, meeting her end to a stray cannonball! Focussing their attention on the two civilians, it certainly seemed like the situation had gotten worse...
One loud smack was the first thing to be heard, as the pirate who had mounted Zenit fell sideways onto the shore. It fortunately hadn't been far from where Jade had been knocked down, so she could reach him before the pirate could finish the job. The strike which had knocked the pirate over, was stronger, more precise, and certainly more harming, than what the civilians and their impact dial could muster. The pirate's eyes went blank, as his weight upon her ally lessened, hitting the sandy ground with a thud. Landing from a short jump, was the protector whom they had encountered in the village, alive. Albeit, she was significantly worse for wear than she had been a moment ago. The girls right eye was closed, and a shallow wound on her cheek was dripping with blood. Jade was only barely putting weight onto her right leg, and her right arm was hanging loosely down her side. The blast had done most damage to her right side. The girl's left hand was wielding a still-sheathed wakizashi, pointing it threatheningly in the direction of the oncoming charge. The first pirate had been quicker than the rest, and had been isolated from the group. The next that would arrive, wouldn't come at her alone. Panting softly from the pain, she was returning towards her two temporary companions. The ringing from her ears made it impossible for her to decipher what her two allies were shouting. All that she knew in the moment was ringing and pain.
"Get up, flee. I'll stall them here." The sentence was clearly addressed to her two companions, and it held a few clear truths. Jade wouldn't be able to fight a horde like that on her own, especially not while wounded. It wasn't a promise of victory, but rather, a promise to keep them safe no matter the cost. Stepping slowly towards the charge, she put a little distance between herself and her two allies. There were six pirates coming to shore in their direction. Six enemies with whom she'd have to contend. Groaning in pain, she shifted more weight onto her right leg; She needed the mobility. Accelerating with her left leg as they finally got close, she took a single step on her right leg, before leaping forwards. It was a rare moment. To protect her allies, she had resolved herself to kill. The sheathe was dropped onto the sand, as the first obstacle was dealt with. As she had been wounded, and seemingly staggering on her feet, the first pirate didn't get to react. The blade cut through the top of his nose, leaving a long, deep cut where his eyes used to be. Using her forwards momentum, she vaulted against the pirate, causing him to spin. Screaming in pain, the pirate started flailing wildly, instantly creating chaos amongst the charging crew-members, as their own ally was now posing a threat to them. Fortune being ever on her side, this rampaging man accidentally struck one of the other pirates to chest with his mace, breaking several ribs and knocking him prone.
...but that was all she was going to get. The other four quickly ended the blinded pirate - having no need for such an incompetent fool. There was no mercy. No understanding amongst them. Seemingly, they had nothing to show but pure malice. Then, like a pack of wolves, they circled around Jade, cornering the girl that could hardly move as it were. "Lets make the wench pay, boys. Lord knows, I like my women spicy" - Perhaps he was somewhat of a second in command, perhaps the first mate, but one thing was certain; He had control over the troops. From there, it must've looked more like torture than an actual fight. The first attack came from behind. Jade narrowly managed to turn, deflecting the attack with a strike of her own, cutting off no less than three of the fingers that was grasping onto his sword. The girl was about to turn, she knew someone was coming from behind; It was already far too late. A large pair of hands grabbed under her shoulders as she had turned her back, his fingers interlocking behind her neck, forcing her arms to dangle oddly in the air. Being shaken violently till she dropped her blade, punishment was sure to follow.
"You've caused us some trouble miss. Only fair we repay you in kind." The first mate said nonchalantly. It was strange, because he spoke in such a charming tone, calm and collected, but the words he spoke were nothing but dread. The one whose fingers she had cut off was the first to exact revenge. A brutal hit directly into her face, immediately twisting her nose and causing a rather bad nosebleed. "Ye cut off me fingers ye dumb wench!" He shouted, clearly in pain, as the second punch landed directly against her jaw. They were grown men, and she was but a teenage girl. The mere weight and size difference had their punches landing with destructive force. Drool was dripping from her lips, down to her chin. Of course Jade was struggling, trying to wring herself loose of the grip, trying to kick at the usurpers, but it was all for naught.
A second pirate joined in, kicking the girl to the stomach. Gasping in pain, the drool from her lips was now accompanied by blood. Thats when the onslaught began, as the pirates simply wailed away at her, relentlessly.
Agonising screams, deep coughs, desperate breaths. The brutal beating didn't last very long, before she was simply dropped into the sand like a ragdoll, unable to move a muscle. Several of her bones were broken, and her body looked like something that had been mauled by a bear or two. The girls face was down into the sand, and she could hardly breathe. They were going to kill her, weren't they?... Hopefully the two civilians would be fine, at the very least. Otherwise, what good exactly had her life been?
What Jade didn't know was, that if the pirates were successful, what awaited her would be far worse than death. Far, far worse...
