Palm open, Augustus Savoie watched and waited. For a moment or two, the woman whom he had called 'captain' seemed hesitant to accept his offering. By now it was obvious, however, that Eris was just as unsure of herself as Augustus. Striking similarities between the two natives of Strawberry Hill; a man and a woman who were both considered outcasts, despite having spent their lives upon the island. Now it was time for them to leave. As the smaller hand of the thief clapped against the open palm of Augustus, he watched as she tried her best to give a firm grip. Not that he could feel it, of course, but it was vision of the act that counted. Finally, after many long and tedious months trapped inside a shell, somebody had accepted him.
I assume this makes us official pirates, now? Bah. Not yet. What is a pirate without a ship? Merely a troublemaker. However, obtaining a vessel will not be easy. Sure, there are many docked at the harbour, but I'm not exactly capable of much when it comes to taking a ship... Weighing up the options in his mind, the steam-powered cyborg now stumbled upon the greatest of predicaments. There was no way they could make off with a larger vessel, and with only one person capable manning a ship effectively, their options were limited to the smaller vessels. A simple sail boat would suffice for now, though when their crew gained numbers, something of better proportion would be in order. That could wait.
"Kurororo! Well then, big guy, we've got a lot of plans to make, don't we!" Laughing as she withdrew her grip from the massive hand of Mister Savoie, a wide grin now formed upon the face of Eris. Clearly pleased with her 'achievements' of the day, it seemed that things were looking up for the former street thief and the ironclad invalid. Indeed, something changed in the way that the Captain behaved, a flash of steel used to scare away the civilians that amassed themselves about the scene. More like a pirate, perhaps?
I should, perhaps, ask what the next step is? Though, I'm pretty sure I already know what the next course of action will be... Remaining silent, more due to physical limitations than mental desire, Mister Savoie stood still as he withdrew his hulking hand. The pact that had just been sealed, in public nonetheless, was sure to catch the attentions of local authorities at some point down the line. Despite being blundering idiots for the most part, the brass-helmed monster had had his fair share of run-ins with the island's current Chief of Police. His adoptive father being a prestigious inventor, it was only natural that Augustus would have met with Ulysses Wright, though that was many years ago during his teenage years. Still, they were likely to escape the island without drawing the attentions of the police force, provided they made due haste.
"...Ship..." Exhaling his solitary word, the walking diving suit kicked into gear, the sounds of bubbling water and hissing steam making themselves known within the carapace. Slowly turning back towards the harbour, the newly appointed crewman continued his ponderous march, this time for different reasons. Freedom. That was a word which now meant so much to him, a word that had brought pain to his very soul in these passing weeks. But now that word meant something more than the impossibility which it originally defined. A chance to escape the steaming prison that was his own suit may never present itself, but the opportunity to escape the god-forsaken island of Strawberry Hill? The gates to the endless seas were open wider than ever before, and that was his itinerary. No more pointless challenges to men who called themselves pirates. No more painstaking hours dreaming of what could have been. The horizon beckoned them, and with it fantastical adventures. A pirate's life for me...
