While Paulie burned indignantly at having the woman of his affections whisked away upon the back of the man whom had betrayed him after many long years of service another body or rather the soul of a man was heavily weighted against as his head hung limply over the chair’s edge. Dim lights flickered in his eyes, signs that his life remained intact for the time being…even though his head felt as if he had been rammed several hundred times with that elephant sword the accursed Spandam seemed to use so freely. If his lips hadn’t been so cracked and his neck not felt like rubber than he might have spat with contempt upon the grounds which he was held.
He knew all too well where he was being held and even with the training of a hardened assassin engrained in body as well as mind, fear prickled his skin as he wondered whether he would ever see the light of day again or be doomed to remain his former leader’s pet for the remainder of his days. Searching for the haughty face of the man in question, Kaku realized that he was alone in the room…for what reason the man would leave someone he hated so much alone was indeed strange. Usually when the leader of the now defunct Cipher Pol 9 sunk his teeth into something, like a rabid dog he refused to let go until there was nothing left of thing except for unusable scraps. That was Spandam.
Attempting to lift his arms free of the chair’s edge which would have been a simple task was more difficult than anything he had tried before hand. Looking down he noticed that it was not ordinary chains he had been bound with; Kairouseki tore into any Devil Fruit user’s power and stripped them of their vitality temporarily disabling them from doing much physically. “The power of the sea…the water I loved so much is what will be my undoing. My goodness…young people today certainly have a knack for the dramatic wouldn’t you say Vice Guard Domino?” he asked through the barred windows of the room where a beautiful head of hair could be seen. Of course the woman only shifted slightly at his comment though he was certain that she wore what many would perceive as a flirtatious smile upon her face…she was a cruel snake that one, Domino would see a man killed and give him that same hinting smile as if she meant to give more than was available to them even upon their death bed.
He wanted to laugh, but his throat was dry and his head hung low once more as he considered the possibilities of escape. Even if he had somehow managed to get past the Vice Guard at the door in his current state, manage to escape the hall he would still have no idea whether he resided in one of the hells or simply remained in a holding cell. Not to mention that security had grown tighter since…he wanted to laugh again, but all that came out was a rasping wheeze that saw him hunch over painfully before he on his knees in the interrogation room. The movement outside told him that Domino was indeed observing him with those luridly shaded eyes that only made the spectacle more tantalizing….Farris would kill him if she ever knew of the thoughts that turned his cheeks crimson at that moment, “Ah, Farris-swan~” he murmured softly while his gaze set upon sights far beyond these walls to where the proud pirate musician stood with her blue mane flowing in the wind while she defied all odds to do as she pleased on these seas.
Even a hardened hit man could weep for great joys now lost.
