Kaku remained unconscious as his feet drug through the dirt en route to the Sea Train station. His captors, agents of CP5 addressed their thanks to the still reluctant Paulie who stood silently as the entourage boarded the train silently without anyone in Water 7 becoming the wiser to his scheme. Inside the man wondered whether he’d done the right thing at, but as he watched the agents carry away his longtime coworker and friend he immediately felt a rock plummeting in his chest as his heart fell; he knew what he’d done was wrong. Attempting to perhaps make amends he pleaded with the agents to wait until they spoke with Iceburg to see if agreements could be made,
“Just speak with Iceburg-san! He’ll make you a deal that might satisfy you…I…I just don’t want this to be my decision. This was wrong and I shouldn’t have simply made a deal with you guys without letting anyone know about it, please!” the blonde haired contractor begged, but to no avail.
As he gripped onto the tuxedo of one of the boarding agents he found the men to be quite unpleasant when someone interfered with their plans especially when it was a non factor as Paulie, himself had realized; he had been nothing more than a pawn for the World Government to reclaim one of their long overdue projects. Moving in unison in crisp dark uniforms and top hats the men that that had been sent to capture the criminal Kaku moved silently onto the train leaving no trace of their existence on the island; as was their credence, they never left tracks behind and they never failed because this was CP5. Aboard the train the once well known hero of CP6 stood with folded arms leaning again the side of the train, awaiting the men to bring Kaku on and he smiled devilishly as he watched the unconscious giraffe being tied down. He’d suffered so much humiliation on that train when they were transporting Nico Robin and he’d always blamed CP9; they had always walked with an air as if they were superior to the rest of the government groups. Now he’d have the chance to show one of their members how wrong they were,
“Now let’s begin…” he calmly said his powerful voice taking a commanding role as he stepped towards the fallen Kaku with evil written all over his face.
Back at the Water 7 station Paulie had caught up to the group that had taken the girl to make sure that they weren’t do anything unsavory with her and when he’d caught up to them the scene seemed to be alright, however he noticed that the agents were all toting guns in their back pockets and he knew how cutthroat these men were. He couldn’t allow his bad decisions to get anyone killed,
“Rope….Action!” came his burly voice booming while his teeth gripped tightly on the cigar in his mouth; he wasn’t going to let anymore of these dogs’ crimes continue, “…Figure of 8 Knot!” he shouted just as the rope he pulled out from his pocket slammed into the jaws of all of the agents with one striking the net with the captured girl in it moving her out of harm’s way.
With the agents groaning from the surprise attack the Galley-La foremen looked to their foremost members with a confused expression on their face,
“PAULIE-KUN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” yelled the ever loud Tilestone which was exactly what Paulie had been trying to avoid because suddenly the attention of the civilians had been shifted to what was going on the streets closer to the docks where the contest had begun.
Just as things couldn’t seem to get any worse the Puffing Tom took off earlier than usual and dumbstruck at the horrible atrocity he’d committed Paulie dropped to his knees while clutching his head in despair; he’d allowed his anger towards the actions of one man taint his good natured self. Then his thoughts turned to the fierce girl whose wrath he’d incurred earlier and only could imagine what her grief would be like when she found out where the men had set course for with their square nosed captive: Impel Down, the once impenetrable prison. Still regarded by many as hell on earth.
Still there was no time for overly grieving as he rushed to free the girl from the binding of the net despite several protests from the foremen around him. They didn’t know all of the actions he’d taken to make Kaku’s capture easy and he was certain that neither they nor Iceburg would approve of them, but he had to move forward now hoping that he could right the wrongs that he’d made. Once the girl was free he grabbed her by the wrist hoping that he wouldn’t have to share too much information while they were alone on the way to Iceburg’s establishment. The important thing would be to brief her and Iceburg-san of everything no matter how shameful his deeds had been. He only hoped that they didn’t kill Kaku before he made it to the doors of Impel Down though the chances that the cheerful square nosed man could be saved were most likely very slim,
“I’m s-sorry…” he mouthed hoping the girl wouldn’t ask any more of what he was talking about as his eyes squeezed shut in remorse.
