Mission #33: Helping the Marines?!

Adel looked down at Dietrich, “This could only be done by the smugglers...or a pirate crew blew in through town. My money is on the smugglers, regardless someone is gonna pay.” he explained. The ship pulled into the dock. The anchor dropped into the water making the water push against the ship. A marine walked up to the two and saluted them. “Sir's we have arrived.” Adel nodded as the marine saluted as he walked away. The ramp extended from the side of the ship and landed on the docks.

Adel calmly walked down the ramp, “Dietrich go and scout for the smugglers, report back to me once you have located their base.” he said calmly. He pushed his glasses up and began to walk towards the city. He wanted to find out some answers and he went into some stores to ask for information. Some where to terrified of the smugglers to say anything, or they didn't know anything about them. Adel wasn't all that happy with the results of his findings.

“I need to cool down before I get really angry.” he thought. His jacket flew in the wind as he looked around for a ice cream palor.

"Like I said, Adel, smugglers are not the type to do something like this. It's most likely another pirate crew. Smugglers do not draw attention to themselves like this, it would make sneaking out illegal goods more difficult," Dietrich explained.

"Dietrich go and scout for the smugglers, report back to me once you have located their base," said Adel calmly.

"Understood, Vice Admiral Masaru," saluted Dietrich as he donned a trench coat that hid his combat suit from other eyes. His combat mask slid back, forming another layer of armor on the back of his neck. Dietrich vanished from the Marine ship using Soru. He reappeared in an alley in the harbor, walking out from the alley nonchalantly, he blended in with the crowd, in search of the smugglers. He had a headset den den mushi hidden in the trench coat, with the mini receiver attached to the inside of the collar of the trench coat, keeping it hidden. Dietrich could at will, transmit the sound received to Adel. As he made his way, Dietrich bought a newspaper, which could come in handy.

Continuing on into the city, Dietrich passed by another alley. Hearing voices, he took a seat on a bench, between two other people. Taking out the newspaper, he pretended to be reading, while eavesdropping on the conversation in the alley.

"Bring the payment for the goods to dock 13 seagull at midnight. Don't be late, or you will be sleeping with the fishes," said one voice.

"Alright alright," replied the second.

As he listened, Dietrich wondered if they were the smugglers. It was clearly an illicit operation. This gave him a lead worth following, though he woul d have to wait several hours. He wondered what other clues he could find within the time frame. As the conversation in the alley ended, Dietrich watched as one of the men from the alley left. Curious as to what he information he might have, Dietrich followed him. Keep his distance, the man had no idea he was following him.

After a little while, Dietrich walked faster, until he was just behind him. Dietrich slowly reached out with his hand, and pickpocketed the man, turning around and walking away from him. Opening his hand, he read a slip of paper with some information written down. Words like "dock 13" and "seagull" were ones he already heard from them But one word "tile" caught his attention. He had an idea what it could be, but it would have to wait for midnight. Dietrich waited until he was far enough, and contacted Adel, whispering into the headset mushi's receiver, "Vice Admiral, I have some leads. Seems like there's a meeting at dock 13 at midnight."

As the last of the men fell under the brutal, structure-less fighting style that had earned Jack the epithet, “Typhoon Swell”, the young man dusted his hands clean of any remaining filth that he may have accumulated upon his hands. Somberness struck through his system as the adrenaline from the fight began to give way to the dull sensation of everyday life, but he was glad to have his headache reduced to that of low roar within the confines of his skull. Without saying or looking at the “blind” girl Jack walked towards an area known as “Dock 13”, but the meaning had failed to strike him. It was said that there were many underhanded dealers there and Jack being an adventurous man decided that he would check it out for himself. Upon arriving there he met with a group of men, who seemed to be conversing sharply about some recent tidings that may have gotten them into trouble,

“Yo, boys” he greeted them as nonchalantly as a friend would greet his fellow comrades. The men’s gazes were filled with loathing, but they quickly returned to discussing their matters without paying Jack’s presence much mind as they settled back into their routine.

Hearing a slight rustle nearby, Jack’s attention left the droning the conversation that was taking place in front of him. With narrowed eyes he scoured the immediate area for anyone that might have been lurking in the shadows.

Gene watched from afar as the last of the guys attacking the duo fell. It appeared that they were somewhat strong, but a group of bandits are nothing to be socked over. There was almost nothing else to do now. As he backed away his foot stepped on a leaf. The eyes of the "Typhoon Swell" Suddenly turned on him. Gene froze instantly backing away once he thought it was safe. For an experienced spy and thief like him crunching on some leaves was an amateur level mistake. He then noticed where the 40 thousand bounty guy was. Standing by the docks he remembered that the marines at the base mentioned that they often meet at certain places by the shore. If that was why the guy was there he was lucky. The guy's eyes were fixed on the place he was hiding and sooner or later he would notice. Gene figure sooner would be better than later especially if he had some information he wanted.
He walked out of the forest headed toward Dock 13. Some looked at him for a moment before turning their attention back to each other.
"So you know anything about the smuggling ring." He said without turning to the man.

Of course there was a lot of people who were gathered there, townsfolk and pirates alike. Everyone was eating and having a good time until Adel walked into the Parlor. Everything went dead silent; the only thing that could be heard was the whispering of the pirates.
“A marine….Showing up here?”
“Who is this guy? It couldn’t be him could it?”
This was some of the many whispers that heard as he made his way to the counter. His jacket covered his pinstriped suit as he walked calmly up the stool. He sat the jacket on the stool as he sat down. He wasn’t in the mood to deal with anyone. He spoke very softy, “You know it’s not nice to stare.” The people around him turned away except for one pirate.

“Oi Oi I can look where ever the hell I want to.” One of the pirates spoke loudly.

Adel just chuckled at the pirate. “Hey can I get a smoothie or something cold?” he asked the shopkeeper. The pirate was a little bit agitated by the direct disrespect. Adel was just like his younger brother whenever he wasn’t in a good mood. Throw punches first and ask questions later. The pirate up, at that moment a large number of people stood up also. The keeper slid the drink to Adel, He began to drink it. He put money on the counter and spinned around on the chair.

He was now facing the group of pirates that all stood in front of him. Once again he chuckled, the towns people began to clear out. “How dare you disrespect us! You don’t even know we are!” The pirate said loudly Adel pushed his glasses up and leaned forward. “No I don’t know and I really don’t care. Now I will be leaving.” As he said that the group of pirates surrounded him.

“Your not going anywhere dog.” The pirate spoke up.

“This will be interesting.” Adel said with a smile.

"That idiot..." muttered Dietrich under his breath. The Vice Admiral was never one for preparation. He just simply waltzed in there in his Marine outfit. Though he respected him, Dietrich disliked the fact he was too simple-minded in the way he went about things. He was situated on a roof of a house not too far, seeing the events from a distance, hidden in the night. At least someone in the Guardians had the brains, and that person was Dietrich.

With his combat mask zoomed in on the group of pirates, Dietrich formed a sniper rifle with his twin gunswords. Attaching a suppressor at the tip of the barrel, he took aim at the farthest pirate, and fired. The bullet buried itself in the man's leg, causing to fall over in pain. He would not be getting up anytime soon from that wound. Working the bolt quickly, he ejected the spent casing and set in a new round in a blur. He fired again, taking down another pirate. He moved like a machine. The time between each shot was extremely short. One by one each pirate fell, alive, but severely incapacitated. To whoever lingered, the sound of the shots hitting their targets sounded like a tempo. The only one who was left was the leader.

He separated the sniper rifle into his twin gunswords. Standing up, he vanished from his sniping position using Soru. Reappearing behind the leader, he jabbed at the back of his neck and halfway down his spine. The pirate fell over, his body going limp. He was alive, but temporarily paralyzed. His eyes darted about in an attempt to ascertain the situation. Kneeling over the leader, Dietrich brough his face close to the pirate's. The red optics of his combat mask burned into the memory of that pirate. The cold voice of Dietrich, with a metallic tinge due to speaking with the mask over his face, said, "You're not important enough to know or remember."

Dietrich leaned in closer to the disabled pirate. His combat suit adopted the texture and color of the ground around them. "Now. I will allow you to speak. You will tell me what you know about Dock 13 seagull. Is it some sort of tile I have to push to access the smuggler's hideout? If you're thinking about screaming for help. You will find yourself dead before air comes out of your mouth." Dietrich lightly jabbed a part of the man's neck, allowing him to speak, but still paralyzed. He then drew a knife, holding it against the man's windpipe if he tried to scream.

OCC: Come on guys we need to bring it together so we can actually start the whole stopping the smugglers thing. And note that Jack is just out with a group of the ring. There’s still the head quarters to deal with which is something you will have to squeeze out of one of the men. Lastly Jack if you haven’t noticed *this is for the Marines* is the smuggler’s body guard for the moment. Alright let’s go.


There seemed to be some commotion going on in the bar not too far away from where the men had gathered because the group of smugglers that Jack had been straggling around with suddenly paused all conversation at the noise. It seemed a throw down of some sort was taking place there, but Jack dismissed it as nothing more than some amateurs going at it. Of course he had no way of knowing that a Captain and Vice Admiral had chosen to make an appearance in that particular bar. The men decided to move their operations to one of their hideouts in Dock 13,

“Hey you. Scraggly haired kid” one of the men in a deep voice addressed Jack,

“….come with us. I’ve heard of you. Be our body guard and we will pay you handsomely in money and more women than you could possibly want” the man tempted.

Jack smiled as he took the bait and followed the men away to the Dock 13 hideout. When they had gotten there one of the bystanders had stated that there was someone who had just appeared on the docks that was asking about the smuggling ring of men. This immediately warranted hostile behavior among several of the smugglers and the man that had first spoken to Jack introduced the young lad explaining to his comrades that they should just send two guys with Jack to ferret out the weasel. Aggreeing with the man’s sentiment they sent two of whom they believed to be their best fighers with Jack; an assassin and boxer.

“I don’t need no stinkin’ partners to kick one guy’ a*s ya know” he growled, but the men hesitantly explained to him that they understood and promised the men wouldn’t interfere. Placated by their explanation Jack sought out the man whose description had been given to him from the bystander’s testimony. It was easy to find the individual since they were still wearing the cloak and asking another one of the citizens if they knew anything about the smuggling ring,

“Yo! Jacka*s!” greeted Jack not seeing the man’s face as the person’s back was toward him,

“How ‘bout you ask me if I know anything about the smuggling ring?” he said in a dangerous tone as the two men behind him jeered in response to his abrasive greeting.

The assassin had a tattoo upon his left shoulder and had a shifty face which slightly resembled a rat. His figure was lithe and he was equipped with a dozen throwing knives which had strings that were almost impossible to see at night attached to the handles. The boxer was a large man whom they referred to as “Og” and was broad shouldered with an angry frown even when he was smiling. His teeth were bent out of place and he had a large head which was lumped in various places due to his street brawling as a youth. On each hand was a spiked gauntlet, each spike begin over an inch long and very about an inch thick at the base. Most fearsome about Og was his body was built like that of a tank and his muscles alone made it very hard for a normal human to attack directly head on.

Tapping her plateau shoes fast and hard on the ground as she walked angrily along the docks her eye wide open. "I can't believe the ungratefulness of some people in this world, should have just dumped him in the sea, tsk." Aikoh was thinking out loud, though the words were barely understandable mumblings. "Bastard" She half shouted as she came to a stop. Some heads had turned at the sudden exclamation but aikoh stared them down as she continued her way.

She soon reached the dock were a group of pirates was covering the ground. She had already seen it from the moment she had reached the first docks and saw how they had all been shot down by some kind of humanoid, it seemed mechanical. She had seen how he had sort of blurred and made its way to the last standing pirate she figured someone with normal eyes it would have seemed like he disappeared. She had noticed the marine jacket of the man in between the pirates but she dismissed it all as unimportant. Even though Aikoh was a pirate she didn't look like it and she didn't have a bounty plus she was a noble so the worst thing that could happen was being recognized as the noble she was. She didn't care much and ignored it all as she calmly passed the docks seeing the sign of a bar. Aikoh could use a drink to calm down.

Gun shots rang out in the distance, but Gene ignored them thinking that some of the patrolling marines in town had found a criminal. Then he frowned as he looked upon the mess he had gotten himself into. Three people were heading toward him one of them was beckoning him to fight. He was in no condition for a fight. He had a low supply of chemicals to begin with, barely enough to subdue a single person. Then afterwords even if he could kill the three slowly approaching him, there was still the matter of the other bandits. He turned around in time to hear the 40 thousand man taunt him again. It would be a miracle to defeat him alone, but with two other people it would be impossible.

"I'm sorry for my behavior, but do any of you know where the smuggler's hideout is? I would like to join." He said it trying to sound sincere. It was a blatant lie, but it would hopefully get the job done. If they actually believed him they would take Gene to the base, otherwise he hope he wouldn't get killed and was captured instead. He could always escape later once the mission was finished. Then if possible I'll kill the 40,000 man and turn him in for some extra cash he thought.

Before Adel could say anything the pirates began to drop like flies. One by one Dietrich dropped the bandits like a bad habit. He left them alive, they were luckily because Dietrich liked to keep things simple. Adel was going to most likely level the pub with ease. Dietrich appeared before him and grabbed one of the
incapacitated bandits. He began the interrogation process, “Aww your no fun Dietrich. I wanted to teach these clowns a lesson.” He said with a smile. He looked at the pirate and a huge grin crossed his face. They would now play the good cop bad cop scenario.

“Man this guy is crazy I would give him what he wants. You saw what he did to your boys.” Adel said to him.

The bandit tried to swallow but the knife was blocking it from going down. He began to sweat like a pig. “Come on you better tell him, or this won’t end pretty.” Adel continued. By egging the bandit on this would make the process a little bit easier. “Okay! I will talk just….just don’t kill me!” he yelled.

“Tell us!” Adel yelled at him. “Alright we have been smuggling goods under the noses of the bloody marines you see…”

“That’s small stuff where is the Head Quarters?”

“I can’t they will kill me!” the bandit tried to reason.

“This man will kill you if you don’t.” Adel replied.

“The hide out should be at Dock 13!! Please just let me get out of here!” he yelled

“Put him down Dietrich, we got what we needed. Alright you are off the hook but so help me god if you are lying, we will find you.” Adel explained.

The Bandit nodded, Adel began to laugh because the Bandit pissed himself mid interrogation.

“We can do this two ways, Dietrich. Go in loud or, play it cool.” He waited for Dietrich’s reply.

"You're not telling me everything," said Dietrich as he pressed the knife further, giving the man a light cut on his neck.

"Okay okay okay!" cried the pirate. "Behind the first storehouse you see, there should be a cobblestone tile mixed in with the rest of the ground tiles. It looks like a seagull was engraved on it. Pressing that tile down should open up the hideout for you!"

"That's a good boy," said Dietrich as he pulled the knife away and sheathed it. He jabbed him again, silencing him temporarily in addition to him being paralyzed. Looking over to Adel, he told him, "He won't be going anywhere for a while."

They were currently located at Dock 9. Dock 13 was not too close, but not too far away. Dietrich leaped up onto the roof of a building. Looking for the dock they seek. His head jerked when he heard a loud voice shout, “DIE!” He zoomed in on the source of the voice through his combat mask. Whoever it was had quite the lung capacity for his voice to be heard from such a distance.

It was a scraggly-haired man, one who looked to be rather uncivilized, attacking another man. There were two other men behind him. One big, and one thin. Perhaps they were guarding the entrance to the hideout. Looking back at Adel, he said to him,"There's activity at Dock 13."

(OOC: Hey Dietrich-san. Actually I was talking to Dethrouge. I’m in Dock 13 currently and I have two thugs working with me to beat him up/kill him. Sorry for the confusion)

Behind him Jack heard one of the thugs snickering at the man’s request to find out where the smuggler’s hideout may have been in hopes to join ranks with them,

“Yea…let’s take ‘em to the boss and see what he thinks o’ this guy” the burly giant of a man sneered, his hot breath falling on top of Jack’s head. Resisting the urge to drive his fist into the man’s skull, Jack countered in irritated yet low voice,

“Shut up. That ain’t how I do things…”

Returning his angry eyes to the man he peered at the and slowly recognized him from the time that he had been drunk hanging out with the snotty b*tch (sorry Mayamay) that he ditched after beating down the thugs, but that meant the guy couldn’t be trusted more than anything else. Jack was dense, but he could tell when something didn’t quite seem to fit together and that definitely seemed to be the case here,

“Sorry partner, I don’t give a d*mn about these smugglers or your life…” he said as he reached over his head to draw his tsurugi,

“…guess I’m just gonna have to destroy both of ya’s so I can sleep in peace right?” he asked with a lewd smile on his face; violent intentions seemed to ebb from the man’s being because the two men that had been confidently stood behind him hopped back defensively and drew their respective weapons,

“D-d-is guy is a l-loossssee cannon…we should get outta here” suggested the shifty rat faced man, but before he any response could be given Jack leaped into the air with his blade overhead and roared delightfully,

“DIE!” as he slashed down wildly at the target (Gene/Deth) without any regard for subtlety or the fact that the docks were not as sturdy as they seemed; the force of his blow would decimate the aging structure if he missed.

Gene was expecting the man to attack, so he side stepped out of the way. It came with an astounding amount of force and although he did moved, it wasn't enough to completely avoid the blade. It luckily struck his metal mechanical hand. Enough sparks jumped from the area to cause a fire if the docks weren't waterlogged. He really had no choice left, but to retreat.

"Damn" Gene muttered. He wasn't used to these types of situations as his thieving jobs were usually executed without mistakes. He took a breath before diving into the water. Part of his training included being patient in any kind of problem in any place imaginable. Some of which included holding himself up with only a finger and hanging upside down for hours on end. That was when he saw it, a gigantic outcropping of rock underneath. It could have easily been bigger than the island itself. It was under the majority of the island, but reach far down. His mouth was gaped open with a few bubbles trailing outward. Gene's mind flashed back to the current situation and the predicament he was in. He dove down deeper until his ears popped. The water was murky there and the underground boulder was no longer visible.

“Activity at dock 13? Well I guess that’s our next stop.” Adel said as he turned around. His coat tails seemed to float in the wind effortlessly. He looked forward and began to walk out the door. “Let’s go.” He said calmly as he walked out into the dock area. They weren’t far away from the dock 13 because there was a lot of noise that was going on at the time. Dietrich would not be far behind him. There were people who were staring at the bar because of all the noise that went on inside of the bar before then.

He was well on his way to the docks to deal with the bandits that have been here on this island causing problems. As a marine it was his job to deal with pirates and bandits. He was not one to let people get hurt without them being unpunished. It was his calling as a guardian; he had to lead by example. Crushing them with his fists would be a step forward in his career.

Soon he got closer to dock 13 there were some people fighting there. This was getting very interesting, first the bandits and now this. The man with the bushy hair struck the docks, knocking the other into the water with a massive blow. He managed to dodge the brunt of the attack but the aftershock broke through the dock.
Adel stood there in front of him, after getting a good look at him a huge grin creped across his face. “Well well well if it isn’t Jack dancer himself.” He said loudly.

"Activity at dock 13? Well I guess that’s our next stop.” Adel said as he turned around.

Dietrich nodded without a word as he followed Adel from the rooftops, keeping himself hidden. His combat suit added to this. It had adopted the texture and the color of the rooftops, allowing him to blend seamlessly into his environment and make himself nigh impossible to see.

He identified the scraggly-haired man as Jack Dancer, a man with a large bounty. As usual, Dietrich chose a stealthy approach while his superior preferred the simple method of walking right through the front door. He stopped not too far behind Adel, still sticking to the rooftops and remaining well-hidden and silent.

He combined his twin gunsword to form a long range, high powered sniper rifle. His aim was fixed on Jack's head, ready to pull the trigger and fire an armor-piercing round straight at his head. Jack's last attack had sent a man into the water and partially destroyed a part of the dock. It appeared as if he was only a temporary hire by the smugglers to protect the dock from anyone looking to stop the ring.
