*BEEEP* The siren blared. *BEEEP* It repeated in a few heartbeats, the entire facility was on alert. *BEEEP* The lights had gone off to be replaced by the slow pulsing red lights of danger. *BEEEP* Everything was in chaos after all of the facility doors were opened by an assistant wanting to make a difference. *BEEEP* This Siren was so loud, it pierced straight through to the core of anyone that could hear it within the base. The turmoil could be heard between the blares of the massive sirens that indicated the base was in crisis. *BEEEP*
Francesca Stine had awoken from her cell of a room and wandered out holding her head. This sound was too much for her. The chaos around her was scary and her eyes had tears staining them, yet an uncharacteristically determined look was on her face. ‘Lee! Where are we going?’ A small and distraught inner voice asked. *BEEEP*
“Away!” She had to yell to hear herself over the blares of the obnoxious siren. She turned a corner and saw an assistant running in her direction, this was it. She had to fight to get out? There was nothing behind her. That was a dead end, no Lee had to drive forward. “Here we go!” The woman charged forward and moved to throw a punch, it missed and impacted into a wall causing a small dent in the steel. “I’m getting Frankie away from you!” She bellowed between siren blares.
The assistant in a look of shock managed to push Frankie back, making her stumble into an open doorway. “There’s the escape pod! It has enough supplies for a while! Someone will find you!” The soft voice said. Then the door closed and sealed shut. What more was said was muffled behind a thick bulk head.
‘W-w-what?’ The small voice asked in surprise, making the persona in charge shift and look around the pod. There was a seat, with belts and buckles. A button and a pair of large bags fastened to the sides. “They’re helping!” Lee replied before pressing the button and forcing her body into the chair. The entire pod lurched away from the blaring sirens of the base as she attempted to do her seatbelts. It was too late.
The pod shot from the flying base at incredible speeds, sending the girl tumbling in the confined space. She bounced and rattled in the pod that hurtled through the sky. “Crap! Shit! Ouch! Damn!” After a few more bounces everything had gone black and the pair of souls that called the body of Subject HG: 07 Frankie Stine had lost consciousness. For how long neither of them knew, however when they came to the turbulence had stopped and strings of slime held her in place.
Then the prominent feeling of freefall hit her stomach. The jumbled lurching of the small craft as it dropped from the air at speeds whilst spinning. The sheer G-force of the falling escape pod should have been enough to knock normal people out… but not Frankie. “GET ME OUT! LEE HELP!” She cried, tears flowing as free as a bird in the sky. Nothing happened, Lee didn’t respond to her. “NO NO NO! GET ME OUT!” She screamed as a flash of lush green appeared in the view port then there was an incredible crash. She was jerked one way then another as the pod slammed off of ancient trees and then into the underbrush where it skidded to a stop. During all of this a small piece of equipment came loose of its trappings and bounced straight into the back of Frankie’s head, knocking her out cold for the second time.
Two weeks had passed since the destructive meteor had torn through one of the oldest sections of the rain forest near the centre of the island. It was an event some locals had come to know as the omen oof Queen Leti. People had gone in search of the final resting place of the omen but due to the incredibly thick flora in that area they assume it was swallowed up. That is not the case however. The survivor of that incredible crash landing was Frankie. She had woken up moments after, her body in control of Lee.
In that time, she escaped the bod and hoisted it high into the trees using her slime. From there foliage and lumber was gathered and it was used as the centre of a small home. The two minds had decided to stick to what the assistant had said. Help will come and find them, so they did not want to move anywhere beyond where they finally landed. This was out of Frankie’s fear and Lee’s pragmatistic approach.
This was life now. When Frankie wasn’t resting and recovering in her makeshift shelter, she was sneaking into the closest city to scavenge for food and supplies under the cover of night. Lee took charge whenever anything went wrong (note Frankie got startled by alley cats creeping in the dark.)
