Crashing through the brush, Anchor Wolfric slammed down into the dirt. Man! Raige had a crazy good arm. Hopping out of the anchor, Wolfric took a quick look around, but she didn’t see any tracks made by Cheeks. Hmph! Well, she’d just have to get a better look from above! Picking up Raige’s anchor and tossing it over her shoulder, Wolfric clambered up a tree and surveyed the surrounding area. Ahh… THERE! She spotted movement in the underbrush.

Nodding to herself, Wolfric leaped down and took off after it, the chain of the anchor trailing behind her as a visual trail to where she had gone. She raced through the woods, getting thwapped in the face a couple times by a tree branch until she saw something that made her pause and scratch her head. She was pretty sure she’d been going in a straight line… so how had she run across the anchor chain? She gave it a little tug, and, yup, it was the chain attached to the anchor. She could feel it.

Wolfric sweated nervously. Ah-ha. Maybe she’d just gotten turned around. She clambered up another tree and surveyed the surrounding area, but she didn’t see any movement like that other time. Uh. Not good. Had they given her the slip? But! Flo! Wolfric continued sweating nervously until she spotted something distinctly mermaid shaped in a clearing not too far away. Haha! Flo must’ve given him the slip.

Hopping down, Wolfric did actually manage to make it to the clearing after a minute or two of running, but…

“Uh… oh…”

Sticking halfway out of the ground was what looked to be a broken-off mermaid figurehead from a ship. There was a loch nearby, so Wolfric wasn’t entirely surprised to see it, but… that meant… Her whole body drooped. Flo… Wolfric had lost her! Now what? They had to save her before… Wolfric shook her head and shuddered at the memory. No, they would save her. But how to find her?

Wolfric put the anchor down and sat on top of the mermaid figurehead to think. Hmm… it seemed like they were only interested in mermaids. So, if they were gonna lure them out, it had to be with bait. Wolfric scratched her head. She didn’t wanna put any more of the mermaids from the cove in danger though… on the off chance that something like this would happen again. She glanced down at the mermaid figurehead, an idea slowly starting to form.

Rushing into the wood with Gabz right behind him Yi followed the anchor. Something that became a bit difficult due to Wolfric not keeping a steady course, that and the canopy of trees made it difficult to keep an eye on the flying hunk of metal. Rushing through with his blue-haired companion things hit a halt.

"Ugh, just when we had her..."

Yi scoffed, he leaned against a tree painting. Finding Wolfric was going to probably be harder now that they didn't have a lead... unless this was another Witch mind trick meant to get them to run in circles. Just as he said that he felt the ruffle of leaves fall from the tree above. Something was moving up there and unlike Dojo Island, this place didn't have tree snakes or monkey-lizards. So either it was a large bird or a person.

"Wolfric?"

He called out, only to see a silver blur get off and run away in a random direction. Yi frowned, eyes drooping slightly. A part of him wanted to chuckle despite his mild annoyance, how could someone have so much pent-up energy?

"Come on Gabz..."

The chase continued, Yi's hat flipping off onto his back allowing his fiery orange hair to flutter as he ran... slightly restrained by his top-knot of course. During the chase he'd occasionally look back to make sure Gabz was alright and was still right behind him. After another short chase, Yi came to a clearing where Wolfric was standing at the center of staring at ship's headpiece.

"Wolf- *pant* Wolfric *wheeze* stop running..."

Yi fell over limbs spread out, face red from the sudden burst of running around. He hadn't been a chase like that in ages so it caught him off guard. That was okay though, he just needed more cardio to train up that stamina more.

--Surprise Alliance! The Wolves Show Their Fangs!

Moments had passed since her companion had taken her for a sprint through the trees, he had her by the hand and was running with speed that made it feel like the cat girl who was clinging to his arm for dear life was a human kite. All of this to chase an anchor, an anchor that Wolfric was riding. This woman was mental and the devotion Yi was showing her proved that she was worth following.

“Yi!” She yelped as they carried on running through the forest. “I can run on my own~!” the cat-sniper giggled as she flung about in the air. He quickly stopped to re-evaluate what was going on and changed the direction of his charge. However, this time Gabz was ready for the run and managed to keep her feet on the floor and with ease was keeping pace with the wooden swordsman.

As they carried on she eventually got ahead slightly, her hunters senses with sharp eyes picking out the path their quarry had run through with ease. “This way!” She spoke as she took the lead into the clearing stopping with a few hops after emerging from the bushes and giggles as she looked back to Yi and his splayed-out form. She had a big bright smile on her face. “You okay down there Yi?” She asked, not registering that Wolfie the person they were chasing was in the clearing with them…

“EEP!” She squeaked before darting back behind Yi and behind a tree to cautiously peer out. Her cautious and shy nature creeping up on her quite quickly in one sudden burst.

The water surrounding the island rippled as Raige broke through the surface. It had been a few minutes since he had thrown Wolfric and his anchor inland which means the pirate girl had quite the head start. Lucky for him, all he had to do was follow the chain that was attached to the end of his weapon. The wotan plopped out of the water and tugged on his chain to help pull him up the beach, wincing at his previous wounds.

"Errrgh, this is going to be fun..." Raige groaned looking into the brush ahead. His height was going to make traversing this island a bit easier, but judging by the size of those trees ahead, he would lose his edge over the smaller races sooner than expected. Trudging forward, Raige took massive strides inland following the chain-link path his weapon laid out for him, rewrapping the chain around his wrist as he went.

The trees further inland were beginning to grow thicker than what was around the beach area. Trying to maneuver around the dozens of branches and trunks this far in was going increasingly difficult. It didn't help that trying to scan the ground for the pirate girl and his anchor was growing more and more difficult as branches and brush blocked his view. If he had his weapon he could easily cleave his way forward through all this. Maybe in hindsight, he could've just grabbed Wolfric and ran her in...

Eventually Raige stumbled across a clearing and found the end of his chain, with a familiar white-haired girl sitting next to his anchor.

"Ah good, you made it over safely." Raige spoke up as he griped his anchor but the handle. His eyes glanced over to the mermaid figurehead Wolfric seemed to be staring quizedly at. The mermaid's wooden face only reminded him of the pain he felt watching that big-mouthed freak run off after taking Flo. They had to find and stop him if he wanted to get his Flo back!

"C'mon you ready to get go-" Raige paused as he glaced down at the redheaded man was planted face first in the dirt below. The wotan's brow furrowed looking down at this unconscious stranger. He took his anchor and pointed the pointed end down at the little man, turning his attention back to Wolfric, "Is that hunter?! Is he one of them?!"

Rubbing her chin thoughtfully at the mermaid figurehead, Wolfric perked up and turned around when Raige crashed into the clearing behind her. She turned and smiled at him, nodding when he commented that she made it over safely. She flexed her bicep at him, slapping it with her other hand.

“You betcha!”

She was about to turn back to the figurehead and tell Raige to hold on a second when someone else crashed through the underbrush and ran out into the clearing. Her face lit up with a smile when she saw who it was. Yi! Heck yeah! Huh, why was he so out of breath? She watched him flop face first into the dirt, gasping for air. Wolfric shook her head at him and crouched down, patting his back.

“Man, we gotta work on your stamina, buddy,” she said bluntly without a hint of sympathy, “Where ya been?”

A giggle and voice caught her attention. Wolfric glanced up and saw a girl with blue hair. And… cat ears? Wolfric stared at her as she squeaked and hid. Her fingers wiggled with the incredible urge to touch those ears to see if they were real. When Raige turned to look for her, Wolfric had already disappeared from Yi’s side and grabbed the cat girl’s ears with sparkling eyes and a big dumb grin on her face.

“Raige!!! Check it out!! They’re REAL! ...What did you say?”

Wolfric blinked a few times, still holding on to the cat girl’s ears as she rewound time in her head to process Raige’s question. It took a moment as her eyes fell back to Yi on the ground.

“Oh. No, no, that’s Yi! He’s my first mate! He’s cool. Actually, I had an idea!”

Letting go of the cat girl without a second thought, Wolfric ran over to the figurehead and possessed it. In the next moment, Mermaid Wolfric sat up out of the dirt and spread her arms wide.

“Tada! What if we used me as bait to get em to lead us to their secret lair?”

It would seem his Captain was no alone given the presence of a large wotan. Yi had never seen fishfolk before, save for the depictions you could find in some manuscripts and scrolls from Dojo Island. One thing was for certain though, he didn't know they could get that big.

"I'm fine Gabz, just... stay behind me."

Yi was a bit on edge, placing his hand on his shinai. The large man had just thrown an accusation and he wasn't about to let his guard down around such people.

"No. I'm not a slaver, last I checked I don't look like one either."

He said a bit annoyed, his bronze-colored eyes looking between Raige and Wolfric. What an assumption to make. He didn't even look like one of the locals what with his garb. It was clear he was a foriegner. Lucky for him Wolfric who seemed to be on good terms with the large man introduced Yi.

"Thank you, Wolfric... I just... remember I'm running on one meal after weeks of not eating."

Yi hunched down letting his arms dangle, Wolfric always loved teasing didn't she? He shook his head lightly at Wolfric obsessing over Gabz's ears. That was new, was she into cats? He tilted his head quizzically. Crossing his arms he looked up at Raige. His glasses taking on the glint of the few rays of sunlight that managed to break through the cloudy sky.

"Gong Yi-Soo, well met. You may call me Yi-Soo or Yi or whatever you wish. I'm not particularly picky."

He gave a respectful bow to Raige, before moving onto look at Wolfric and her antics. She possessed what seemed to be an old mermaid headpiece. Yi lifted a brow, being out of the loop this made very little sense to him.

"What... exactly is going on?"

Surprise Alliance! The Wolves Show Their Fangs!

Everything happened so fast! A massive fish man thing came barrelling out of the treeline and accused Yi of being a slaver! That was not good! The cat sniper was going to move and take aim at the large beast when like shot the person she had seen early had barrelled through like a natural disaster and grabbed at her ears.

“EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!” She yelped out, she had moved to react to the incoming threat but could not do it in time. No Gabz could barely wheel her rifle around before the incredibly soft fluff of her turquoise blue cat ears were grabbed by this ruffian… no barbarian! The sniper’s pale olive skin wend through every shade of red before here eyes went blank and her soul started to leave her body through her very mouth.

Gabrielle had a short life with all things considered, she had barely left the nest on her own on this quest before having her soul forced from her body in such a rough manner. Her knees had grown weak and it was all she could do to stand up as the one that had been called Wolfric man handled her ears with such vigour. Her ears had always been sensitive and she had really only let people she trusted touch them… this happened so fast she didn’t know how to deal with it… hence the soul still trying to escape her very little body.

Then her ears were let go as fast as they were grabbed. In that instant the cat girl dropped to her knees and curled up on the spot, covering her ears with her hands and rocking back and forth with her face as red as a tomato. Her soul luckily had come right back the second her ears were free and the whole experience had left the young woman reeling in shock… This was how intense Wolfric was? She was so loud, boisterous and decisive… everything Gabz was not. It was easy to see why Yi was so drawn to her….

Raige slowly bent down so that his giant head was up within just under a meters length away from Yi's much smaller frame. His brows held their usual furrow, but with the red-head's retort being as defensive as it was, the Wotan could only glare with deeper content for these new kids.

"Mmmmmm..." The wotan reverberated as he tried to size up Sook-Yi. Raige let out a quick huff of air from his nostils before finally breaking his focus on the proclaimed First-Mate of Wolfric's crew. "Alright kid, well if Wolfric says you're alright." Digging the point of his anchor into the dirt and leaning against his makeshift weapon, he looked back down to Yi and Gabz. "The name's Raige, We're here to rescue Flo and the other mermaids, so quick your yapping and pay attention."

Turning his attention back to Wolfric, the wotan was almost in disbelief at the sight that lay before them all. Wolfric had possessed an old mermaid figurehead that somehow found its way inland.

"You... You can't be serious..."

Mermaid Wolfric put her hands on her hips and swiveled the figurehead’s head down to look at herself. She thought it had been a pretty good idea, but the way everyone was looking at her started to make her think otherwise. Raige also quickly explained the situation to Yi, which made a light bulb go off in her head. Oh yeah! Yi didn’t know anything about the mermaids or the hunters, did he? Mermaid Wolfric smacked a wooden fist into her wooden palm.

“Oh yeah! Yi, there’s like a secret mermaid cove, and Flo saved me from drowning. She got snatched up by a guy with huge cheeks though, so we gotta get her back! But, uh, we kinda lost him. So! I figured we’d use this as bait!”

Mermaid Wolfric wiggled the tail of the figurehead.

“But… what? You think they wouldn’t buy it, Raige?”

She wiggled again for added effect.

“I think I make a pretty convincing mermaid…”

Mermaid Wolfric put her hands on her hips, considering the group of them. When her eyes fell on Gabz, she stared at the cat girl as if seeing her for the first time. She didn’t look great. She was rocking back and forth and was red as a beet. Huh, was she sick or something? Mermaid Wolfric scratched her head and pointed over to the girl.

“Hey, Yi? Who’s that?”

Yi had turned up with her. Of that, Wolfric was pretty sure. So, given that, she probably wasn’t an enemy, but she also wasn’t sure who the heck she was. Wolfric knew that she was an actual cat girl. She’d tested the ears! But she was just sort of rocking around and not saying much. Was Yi trying to help her or something? Wolfric bounced out of the mermaid figurehead, skidding to a stop in front of the girl. She kneeled down and tilted her head at her.

“You okay there?”

This new Wotan fellow standing at least twenty feet in size towered over Yi. Perhaps he thought he had some authority for his size or for working with Yi's Captain or maybe it was his age. But truth is, Yi didn't care, so he simply ignored the command and interrupted him. It didn't help that Gabz's sudden panic also happened around the same time. She was so jumpy... The swordsman gave a slight frown and a head pat toward Gabz before turning back to Wolfric.

"So what's up, Wolfric?"

He inquired, luckily has Captain had taken initiative and began explaining the story. There were a lot of holes in this story that hardly made sense? Apparently, this Archipelago was the host of a mermaid cove... likely in Lake Merrow given their current location. That was, interesting to say the least.

Yi hadn't expected fishfolk to inhabit an island in the blues, as far as he knew they kept to Fishman Island when it came to forming communities. Perhaps that was an ignorant way of thinking, but given that Sook-Yi had lived the majority of his life in a small isolationist island in the North Blue and was only recently exploring the outside world? He had to be forgiven. However, what came up next surprised the fiery-haired man.

"Drowning!?"

He exclaimed in shock! His fears had been true, but it seemed like someone else had taken care of Wolfric's carelessness. Yi shook his head and let out a sigh. What was he going to do with this Captain of his? He would simply have to keep a close eye on her from now on, her loose-cannon ways would only get her in trouble... she needed someone to back her up and make sure she didn't get into trouble. Wolfric had gotten lucky this once! But who was to say her lucky streak would continue?

"I see... I assume that weird big cheeks guy was the swamp monster I saw earlier all covered in muck. Right, that makes sense...? Although I didn't see a mermaid with him... unless..."

Did, did that guy stuff her in his mouth? Like some weird chipmunk of sorts? Yi furrowed his brow slightly disturbed by such a prospect. He could get behind Devil Fruit users, after all even the master of his island was said to possess one that allowed him to be... unbreakable. Or so they said, Yi had never seen his fruit in action. Regardless a man with a big mouth just seemed a little too weird. But sure.

Speaking of fruits, during the whole conversation Wolfric seemed to haunt a nearby mermaid figurehead. To Yi, this wasn't particularly surprising... he had seen her do this with her sword, an anchor, a suit of armor, and now a mermaid figurehead, and immediately he got an idea. Although to be fair, it seemed Wolfric already had this idea brewing. He wouldn't put it past her, she was a clever enough girl.

"Oh, I see what we're doing here! Although... hmm... while you do look the part you're rather lacking in color. That's a problem..."

Kneeling, Yi reached into a small satchel he was carrying. Inside there were some carpenter tools. A hammer, a small saw, some nails, polish, a chisel, and some various paint supplies to define the wood. Showing off the supplies Yi exclaimed.

"...But, that's a problem I can fix."

That's when Wolfric asked about Gabz, Yi turned to his new blue-haired friend who wasn't having a good time meeting all these new people. To be fair, meeting a bouncy woman and a giant Fishman at the same time was probably out of most people's comfort zone. Trying to make the most of the situation, Yi smiled.

"Ohoho! You're not the only one who brought a friend dear old, Captain! This is Gabz! She's a good shot. Say Wolfric, I think we're in need of the best sniper in the North Blue. Well, I think we found her!"

Surprise Alliance! The Wolves Show Their Fangs!

There was a lot of talking going on in the clearing that the group had met up in, talking that Gabrielle had been unaware of as she maintained her self-imposed huddle. The feeling of her ears being so roughly taken in that barbaric fashion had knocked all wind out of her sails. They were in her eyes the most delicate part of her body, they even flicked in a stiff breeze! That is how sensitive they are. Her hands were resting over the unhuman ears as Raige introduced themselves.

Then the defiler of ears had begun to talk as well. Her voice was so different compared to the other two. Where Yi’s had the undertones of discipline and heart and Raige’s was a booming rumble… Wolfric’s seemed innocent but strong and caring. Another opposite from her own meek and soft voice that had trouble being expressed. The words weren’t really being taken in by the rocking cat girl, she was too busy replaying the situation with her ears being roughhoused in her minds eye… then situations where she had willingly let people gently pet them.

Moments of intimacy with close friends, curious younger kids who wanted to see what it felt like… people who earned the right too it, by asking nicely. At least her tail was left un-assaulted. The superfluous extra appendage that swayed with her emotions and helped her gage wind on the fly… such a useful useless addition to her biology.

Her thoughts were brough back when the honied words of Yi had cut through the day dreaming. He had said her name… he didn’t just say her name. He complimented her skills… said she was the best sniper in all of the north blue, a feat she was genuinely proud of. Her rocking stop and her hands felt to the side in the grass for her rifle, which in a heart beat was gathered up and hugged like a security blanket as she stood up from the floor and finally let her eyes rest on the possessed mermaid… that was weird.

“Y-yes! Hello! I am Gabrielle Armada El-Morte, Ex-Assassin, and prometida to Yi after some Puta Witch tried to steal him.” The young sniper said, her eyes starting to sparkle then turning sharp towards the end of her introduction. That witch had made an enemy of Gabz, and was going to be on the business end of her sniper when the blanks were loaded. “I… I don’t actually kill people with my Alto Tempesta. I just kill their ego and kill their image.” Her pride had started to carry her through this interaction. “That makes some people call me the world’s worst assassin but I always finish my job with zero casualties and people looking bad.”

Wolfric turned her head and tilted it at Yi when he mentioned a swamp monster covered in muck. Cheeks hadn’t been covered in muck the last she’d seen of him, but that was a hot minute ago. Wolfric pointed to her cheeks when Yi mentioned not seeing the mermaid with him, puffing them out as much as she could - which was nowhere near as big as cheek guy. Yi seemed to pick up on what she meant though from the furrowing of his brow. Yi was also quick to offer to spruce up her disguise. Wolfric nodded and grinned widely.

“Hehe, that’s my Yi! Give it the old razzle dazzle!”

Yi also explained who the cat girl was, making Wolfric turn back around and stand up, letting Yi deal with the figurehead as she regarded Gabz curiously. She seemed to pull herself together a little when Yi spoke up, standing up. She spoke, and Wolfric mostly followed along, though there were some words sprinkled in that she had no idea what they meant. Wolfric still smiled and stuck out her hand to Gabz.

“Nice to meetcha! I’m Wolfric Hertz! I’m gonna be King of the Pirates!” she chuckled and rubbed the back of her head, “Sorry about earlier by the way, haha! I love cats, so when I saw your ears, I couldn’t help myself!”

Continuing, Wolfric jabbed her thumb back at the Wotan standing behind her, “Anyway! That’s Raige! And we’re tryin’ to save Flo, who Cheeks stuffed in his mouth. Glad to have ya along! If you’re sure you’re up for it, that is.”

Putting her hands on her hips, Wolfric turned slightly on the spot to consider the figurehead behind her.

“The guys that took her are mermaid hunters, so I figure they wouldn’t pass up one in distress! We can track ‘em back to where they’re keeping the others that went missing too! And bam! Beat them all up in one go! Not a bad plan, huh? Hehe~!”

Wolfric rubbed her nose, puffing her chest out proudly. Plus, it sounded fun. She couldn’t wait to see the looks on those mermaid hunters’ faces when she popped out and called in the attack. Hehe. She was chuckling to herself mischievously at the prospect. Looking over at Yi, she smiled, eager to get this show on the road.

“How’s it coming, Yi?”

With Wolfric's approval the swordsman made his way toward the headpiece and knelt beside it. He smiled calmly as he dipped the brush in some paint and began to gently color over the mermaid's face giving her a very beautiful ivory complexion. He emphasized her cheeks with a hue of reddish pink giving the lifeless statue a lively glow that would otherwise be lost if it were completely colorless. Moving to the lips he painted them a gentle peach and accentuated them to seem luscious.

The more strokes that Yi applied the more lifelike it became being nearly indistinguishable from a real person save for its well... lifeless looking eyes. Although that was next on his list... dipping the brush, this time in the color white he began to color the eyes giving them a shining spark of life... then he dipped it in brown creating the very windows to the soul. Piercing brown were the eyes... bright and chipper yet bold and hardy.

"Almost done..."

Yi mumbled under his breath as he moved onto the hair coloring it jet black. The more color he added more life the statuette gained. It was truly uncanny how Yi's color work was able to bring such incredible life to it... until... he was done. There she was! Looking exactly like a traditional woman from Dojo Island. Porcelain skin, dark hair, and brown eyes. The epitome of beauty in Yi's home island. Although to say such a standard was Yi's own personal preference was far from wrong. No, he was a fan of bronze or tanned skin if he was allowed to be honest. His childhood crush, Moon Yue was a clear indicator. Yi frowned thinking about her, to think he had fallen for his greatest enemy's daughter. He shook his head and let out a sigh.

"Finito!"

He announced proudly.

"Hmhm, I see so the swamp monster was actually a mermaid hunter? Damn if I had known I would have cut him down right there."

Well that was news to him, he was mildly disappointed in himself for not catching that earlier. They could have saved so much time. Ah well, it was in the past. Right? Well they would just have to with Wolfric's plan.

"Aha! I love that plan! Well, the figurehead is ready to go. Check it out."

Surprise Alliance! The Wolves Show Their Fangs!

Wolfric Hertz, that was a name that suited the wolfish girl that stood tall and proud in front of Gabz. A person that exuded a brilliance that was seemingly filling the meek cat-girl up with confidence as well! That was a splendid power, and so was her devil fruit ability, to possess inanimate objects and move them. What was it like to eat a Devil Fruit? Stories said that they were just awful to taste and they made the eater feel sick for days afterwards.

With each name mentioned she nodded along, making her soft ears flop with every motion, her tail swished more and more as she got into the explanations. The plan was sounding pretty good, saving a load of mermaids from slavers and bad people? That was a plan the young mink could easily get behind, something she could really show her trick shooting none lethal skills.

“It sounds like a great plan!” Gabz said as she started to twirl the rifle about her body in a display as she mid show examined the loading bolt, the loading mechanism and barrel. As the twirling and dance like motions stopped the butt of the rifle was placed into the damp grassy ground and a smile beamed from the world’s worst assassin. It was time to take on her first job that her father had no input in, a pro-bono assignment that helped people.

“I-if y-you’ll have me, I’d love t-to help!” Gabz stammered out and bowed her head towards Wolfie, making her own ears flick. “A-and you can t-touch my ears…” She said with her face looking down to hide the embarrassment of offering the most delicate and softest part of her head to both Yi and to Wolfie.

He sighed as he looked over at Wolfric's new figurehead form, rubbing at his chin as he studied Yi's handiwork at fixing it up. His patience was beginning to run a bit thin, every second they wasted sitting around here was another second they were giving the hunters. Who knew what they wanted or were doing to Flo. It pained the Wotan and only fueled his anxiety more. If it weren't for his injuries, he would've carried on ahead and not wasted his time dawdling around here.

"Yeah, great, it's crazy what a bit of paint does," He interjected, "Can we hurry this up a bit and get moving along? Those hunters already have a big enough head start on us as is!"

Raige winced feeling another sting run along the length of his ribcage as his voice began to raise at these kids. Getting mad was just gonna strain his injuries even further. If Flo was okay and they both somehow make it out of this mess, she was gonna kill him for getting beaten up this bad.
