The pair walked their designated path, the streets had people lingering about and there was no real sign of whatever this pet, Alan, was. His companion had become vocal again now that they were away from the rowdy group. Her dry delivery of the retort to his tossing the old captain overboard line almost made him crack a small chuckle but it was one he stifled and turned into a large grin instead. They needed to stay focused so making her laugh again would make this difficult.
Before he could reply she carried on. A preference on nickname? That was fair enough, he wanted to be on a friendly basis with his business partner. There was no point in alienating her now, at what was essentially the start of a long and fortuitus relationship! “Lotty it is!” He replied before a flash of red caught his eyes.
The flash of red were followed by the shouts of a man, prompting the Chef to run a head to try and get a proper look at Alan. That was fruitless as the feathered rodent like primate scampered away being chased by the man in the suit. “Well, I think you are right.” He replied, in a matter of fact tone, letting his eyes follow the small creature. A frown formed on his face as he shifted his direction and made a move to get closer to the beast.
“Hey, Alan! Vanessa is looking for you!” He called out, raising an arm for the strangely named pet to come towards. Before Karr could get another word out a man poked his head from one of the stores that flanked the street and looked at Karr.
“I don’t know any one called Vanessa and I don’t know why she is looking for me!” The prim man grumbled curtly at the chef, his twisty moustache being plucked at by his gloved hand… He looked prim and proper, far to prim for a man called Alan.
With a laboured sigh, Karr replied. “Not you, you buffoon. The monkey called Alan.” He looked just as done with the world as he did when he was rescued from that deserted island… some people comedic sense of presence was unreal.
