Isolde #23“That’s it!” Gallahant bellowed:
“This will be your grave…!”
“Titho…? Ah,” Lahar Isolde exhaled, certainly glad to see the black knight alive and well — alive at least. His state of health was not an easy thing to discern beyond that shell, but there was no doubt he had sustained a great deal of damage. But most importantly, it was the silent sentinel’s motions that sparked her intrigue. “You… Want me to take this? But,” she began, tentative about taking up the blade — spears were one thing, but swords required much more martial practice than a meagre polearm.
A glint of sunlight in the night assured her of one thing; Gallahant was holding true to his last statement. There was no room for hesitation. With a sharp intake of chilled and slightly bloody breath, she nodded, taking the hilt in her fingers and drawing it from Titho’s hands. This was the esteemed Sword of Jolnir? The source of the tribesmen and women’s suffering at the hands of the false paladin was now, quite literally, within her grasp. It almost felt wrong to wield it — to even bear its weight — yet she had no more time to consider it.
Titho’s gesture made her puzzle.“Excaliburst…!”
Thwomp! What followed was surprising — startling even — to both sides of the field. Gallahant’s poise had faltered, his spears displaced and rapidly dulling as the serpent upon whose head he had stood reeled from a mighty impact. Isolde simply gawked, processing what she could; for where once Titho had stood, now something else towered. A bare chested man as tall as a mountain, skin painted with tattoos, while a cascade of black descended his back.
“Oh… …? Oh…!” Realisation hit her like a gust of wind, for the winged woman could do little more than stare at the impressive figure standing ahead. For the briefest second, she was confused, panicked, and then just amazed at what she was witnessing. “People as big as that exist? This Blue World really is full of surprises,” she muttered, smiling to herself as she found answers established prior. Titho’s armour, whatever it was, apparently served to contain his form, yet she saw nary a trace of steel shrapnel scattered by his sudden growth. No time for consideration; only for action…… … …
…Or, in Isolde’s case, inaction. Caught up in the spectacle, the lady from upon high could not help but to succumb to personal flaw in this time of bewilderment. Practically frozen to the spot, mouth agape in an entranced smile, her iceberg blue eyes stared up in wonder at the statuesque goliath now in her presence. She was lucky. Lucky that Gallahant and his own troupe — what remained of it at least — were similarly stunned by both the impact and the introduction of a literal Giant in their midst…{Post Synposis:}
Isolde reluctantly accepts the sword and watches in amazement as Gallahant’s almight assault is halted by Titho’s revelation!
