“Huh?” Mina wasn’t sure what was going on when the stand’s front flipped up and revealed three cats hiding under it with a huge gun. She blinked and only had time to think that the cats were awfully cute before a pink sweats wrapped her up like a burrito. She was knocked off her feet, letting out a squeak of surprise. She struggled against the sweater, but as soft as it was, it was also tough and tight. She managed to wiggle and crane her head around to peek through a hole meant for her head probably. She was definitely moving! Wuh? What was going on?! She could hear her Papa calling for someone to stop.
“P-Papa?!”
Her eyes widened when she caught a glimpse of him on the ground, fear sinking in properly for the first time. Wait! No! Was Papa okay? Mina wiggled, but she just couldn’t worm her way out of it as hard as she tried. No! As Mina struggled, Gretel tossed a handful of breadcrumbs onto the fallen Klaus and blew a raspberry at him before taking off after Hansel and the kitty cats. Her own squadron of assorted birds descended on Klaus and pecked at him to cover their escape.
It was a little while later, and Mina was pretty tired from struggling. She was a little overheated. She heard a door slam open and suddenly felt the world go spinning as she tumbled down a set of stairs. The sweater was enough cushion that she didn’t get hurt from the fall, just rattled. She muttered and groaned softly, trying to stop the world from spinning. She could hear the girl’s voice from earlier.
“Granny! Granny! We got her! We get a treat, right? You’ll bake us a special treat, right?!”
The door slammed, but Mina could still hear excited fading footsteps from above. With a little time to rest, Mina inched toward the hole meant for her head, popping it out of the sweater and taking a deep breath. It was so hard to breathe in there! Blinking, she tried to make sense of her surroundings, but everything was upside down. Oh! No, she was the one upside down! That made sense. She didn’t actually mind it. She had sometimes hung upside down from the rafters in their old home.
As her eyes scanned the room, she noticed that she was not alone. Her ears perked up as she tried to squirm free enough to sit up, but it wasn’t happening at the moment. She huffed and just smiled at them instead. “H-Hi! Um… where are we, Mister? What’s going on? Where’s my Papa? Who are those mean kids?”
After a typical barrage of questions from Mina, she turned her hyperactive mind to getting out of the sweater. She could maybe claw it up…? Mmm… she scraped a finger against it, but it didn’t feel like she’d make a lot of headway like that. It was just too tough. Mm! Maybe if she softened it up with honey? That would make her really sticky… but… if it got her out, then she didn’t mind! Plus, maybe the honey would let her wiggle out on her own like one of her Beeats from her honeycomb.
