With one last ditch effort, the bounty hunter channeled the last remaining of his rage to fuel his final assault against the mummy man. The usual nonchalant and confident demeanor completely abandoned, replaced by a much darker side to him. Captain Dofran still didn’t know who the long-haired man was or what purpose he served for being here but was grateful to have one less opponent to deal with.
Suddenly, a pair of footsteps rustled through the grass. From the shadows, two girls, side by side, stepped into the scene. The shorter one had innocent eyes of violet and could be identified as Rebecca, but she was accompanied by a taller girl with golden eyes and long black hair that reached past her lower back. In her hand, the older one wielded a metal spear that is patterned with gold and white and featured a crescent-shaped blade mounted right below the tip. The beauty wore a tube top that’s plain white on the front, dark brown on the side and back, and golden rims on the top and bottom. She wore a traditional pair of sandals with socks.
Wamba snarled at the sight of his weak partner being take down, but the sight of two damsels entering the scene drew his attention away.
The marine officer shifted at them with unease, “Miss! You two shouldn’t be here! It’s dangerous! Leave now!” Two innocent girls shouldn’t be lingering in the woods at night; that much ought to be common sense. They were just asking for trouble to come to them.
The spear-wielder gave a soft smile, responding in a sweet, mellow tone, “Don’t worry. I can take care of myself.”
“Ah!” Rebecca rushed over towards a bloodied body lying on the ground. It took her a moment at first, but she now recognized this fallen one as the bounty hunter named Hao. She had grown suspicious as to where he has gone off to ever since the fight with the ten million bounty pirate was over. Under normal circumstances, her brother would scold her for coming to search for him on her own, but now she had the perfect excuse. The young woman with her was none other than Ara, a member of the Revolutionary Army, and she was Pluto’s mentor, the one who taught him haki. In other words, she had a very reliable bodyguard.
“Hao!” the little one called out with a concerned look. “A-Are you okay?”
Ara slowly strode over, “He’s alive, but he’s in horrible condition. He needs to be treated quickly, or he’ll lose too much blood.” Quickly scanning her surroundings, her eyes paused at the sight of an abundance of white wrappings. Most of them were uniformly shredded into squares, but some remained intact. Bending down to pick some up, she gazed at them curiously. With a quick sniff, there were some herbal-like odor as well, possibly having medical benefits.
Bandages? Well, that’s convenient.
She didn’t know the full story of what transpired here, but she knew what to do from here on out. Handing the clean wrappings to the little girl, she said, “Here! Wrap his wounds with this for now!”
“Okay!” Rebecca accepted, beginning to tend to myriad of wounds decorated on the swordsman’s body.
A psychopathic grin grew on Wamba’s white face.
This is perfect. I’ll use these two girls as hostages to get the captain to back off! And while I’m at it, I’ll finish off that nuisance once and for all.
The pirate snickered and bolted towards the weakest bunch that have all gathered together in a single spot. “Ji-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!”
With a quick twirl of her spear to gather momentum, Ara quickly thrusted her polearm forward, projecting a darting force of air.
“KUH!” Hurled back, Wamba widened his eyes in disbelief. Before he could even reach the girls, he had been struck by an invisible force that pierced into his torso. Tumbling into the ground, he covered his wound up, feeling blood oozing out of him.
I-Impossible! How did I get struck? She did something with her spear, but anything inorganic should have just phased through me? What the heck did she do?
If both the marine captain and this mysterious girl were capable of giving him trouble, Wamba knew that he was at a severe disadvantage. Forget about the mummy person, he never liked that dry-voiced coward anyways. Screw the pirate alliance. This was too much. The Demon Jester fled from the scene.
“Wait!” The marine captain called out to the runaway criminal, but he had already fell for the trap of following him.
“Don’t worry,” Ara reassured the navy officer. “He’s likely heading back to his hideout. But my accomplice is already there, waiting for him.”
“You!” Dofran gnashed with unease at the fact that this pretty-faced girl managed to fend off that wanted criminal with ease. “Just who are you!?”
“I am part of the Revolutionary Army,” she responded politely.
“What!?” The marine captain grew alarmed. The Revolutionary Army was a faction with the sole purpose of going against the World Government. In a sense, they were worse than pirates. If what she said was true, it was in his duty to take her in.
“Even if you’re at full health, you can’t defeat me one on one,” she informed after sensing a sliver of hostility from the man. “And even if you were had enough reinforcement to take me down, my accomplice is much stronger than me.”
Meanwhile…
So… she’s here – Ara.
