“Then I’ll leave you to your duty,” the hooded youth said, though not without some vague flamboyance. With a bewildered stare, Aluco Striggs watched as the almost iconic duo of fellow and feline entered into a state of curious choreography, the likes of which might as well have been rehearsed several times over given how fluidly it seemed to unravel, like fine cotton from its spool. Unfortunately, any actual meaning had gone by the wayside – it was his words that had mattered more than the bizarre action that had accompanied them.“Just look for me!” he noted proudly:
“I am the one and only Ka– Owww!”
“Shouldn’t it be you looking for me if you need help?” Miss Striggs questioned, visibly perplexed by the stranger’s role reversal. It seemed strange to her that a civilian would be offering their assistance in such a manner to a Marine of all people, but yet she was not entirely dismissive of the process. Gentlemanly as it was, it was somehow clear to her that there was some semblance of reliability within the red-eyed soul, the kind that some might brand as chivalrous. Was he offering his aid because he was interested in supporting the World Navy and its efforts at keeping peace and Justice, or because she was a woman? Rather expectedly, the latter thought did not even dare grace the girl’s mind as she nodded in acceptance.
That being said, it was more than likely that the peculiar pair’s act of whirling and warbling had taken over her predominant thoughts. Actually, Aluco even felt herself wanting to turn her head about as she watched the two twisting and turning like dancing tops. Dizzying was the process, but soon it subsided, albeit not without repercussions and minor material damage. A messier-than-normal young man stood there beaming, holding a cat that seemed more than a little amused by the whole performance. That was, of course, assuming the onlooker had any understanding of feline facial expression, which she did not – at all.“It was a pleasure to meet you, Kaow,” the MCPO saluted:
“And you too, Mister Kitty!”
Kaow Y. Aiorta… That’s a strange name, the bumbling brunette thought as she turned to leave and resume her patrol of the city streets. Any reasoning as to what had actually just happened had been completely lost to the moment, leaving Striggs with a surprising amount of false information fresh in her memory as she swiftly and diligently departed. Exactly where she was going, she did not know, nor did she have any real desire to. As far as she was concerned, simply being present and correct was good enough given the otherwise severe lack of fellow uniforms on the march. Where was everyone?“Huh?”
All of a sudden, a yell filled the air. Indeed, the puzzled Petty Officer had barely made more than a few dozen yards from the Upside Man when someone’s exclamations of surprise claimed her senses – immediately she was on high alert. All manner of possibilities began to buzz about her mind; was somebody being assaulted, had a thief made off with some goods, or was this simply some kids playing games or pranks? Though each query came in turn, the diligent soul’s focus seemed to function as a hawk’s – each possibility was put to one side as she almost completely about faced and scouring the paves with hawkish amber ovals.
“He went that way!” “After him!” “Don’t let ‘im escape!”
One after another, various voices yelled out statements and bellowed orders; disorganised, but certainly with a united goal in mind. Much of the commotion seemed to be stemming from the inn, though from her current position the crowds milling about seemed to be more of an obstacle than an aid. On her toes the dutiful damsel had to stand, all so she could peer over the heads of those who had paused to take a gander at the ruckus to salve their own curiosity. At first, she could see nothing. Then, bursting free – one after the other – from the door of the Upside Man emerged a number of individuals. Some looked scruffy, others a little more presentable, but all of whom quickly gave pursuit to an unseen target.
“It’s those damnable pirates again,” a passer-by muttered just within earshot, “up to no good…”
Internal alarm bells rang. Fuelled by little more than a whisper on the air, the spirited soldier sprang into action with an abundance of vigour. Whomever they were chasing did not matter – all that concerned her now was that the group of ruffians had been branded as scourges of the waters. Sworn by duty and desire alike, Aluco honed her senses and practically sprinted in a heated and as of yet unnoticed pursuit of ne’er-do-wells…{OOC}
