Surprisingly, it was one of the colder days for the kingdom of Toroa. Shaa`mal had never ventured this far out before, having crossed rather peacefully into a new set of ocean pasture from his original home. Work had been mundane and too wreathed in the same set of problems in South Blue, kittens and puppies lost or find a cheating husband and bring them to justice.
It wasn't what he felt 'meant' to do.
As luck would have it, Shaa`mal was on relatively neutral terms with the Marines as the few he'd met so far seemed of okay temperament. The entirety of the World Government and it's machinations were, for the most part, still unknown to Shaa`mal as he'd never even heard of such in the Waste of Aria. He did know that his profession was better supplied information through them, however. They were also usually wont to help, as it furthered their own career and netted a nice bonus in their coffer.
One such bounty that had stuck out was the rounding up of a group of gangster types who were terrorizing the local populace with threats of maiming and murdering less they pay a hefty ransom. Shaa`mal had eagerly snatched the quest, not even for money, but for the possibility of helping others and raising his reputation in the meanwhile. He needed people to know him, people to seek him out if he was to make anything of himself out here.
Now, all he had to do was wait for his assigned partner to show up. Apparently it was some Marine woman, someone to help him out with the legality of his actions as well as to assist and observe him to ensure proper decorum was used.
The meeting point was a simple tea house on the outskirts of town, not quite formal but not a dive like Shaa`mal was used to frequenting in his hometown. Something acceptable for a military officer, he supposed.
