“I’m not blushing!” He denied such a ludicrous thought while tugging at his hood to hide more of his face. No matter how much the world would try to numb his heart with its hideous nature, his sister had never let his emotions decay.
“And it’s Pluto!” He was beginning to lose his composure. All this sentimental business did not mix well with his style. As much as he was reluctant to answer, he wasn’t in the mood to be given nicknames.
In response to Rebecca’s curiosity of the brunette’s circumstances, Tsubaki stated that she didn’t quit from the marine forces. Just like him, she had personal reasons to be partaking in this tournament and wanted to keep a low profile.
He gazed away from his little sister as wanting to form a barrier between the two of them, “I didn’t bring her to the rooftop. She climbed up her by herself, following me like always.”
The girl nodded proudly as if it was a compliment, “Yup! I had nothing better to do!” Following and pestering her brother was pretty much in her job description as a little sister. It was her duty to make sure Pluto never falls into the dark side by constantly poking at his soft spots and make him open up more.
His brows tensed at the suggestion of him voluntarily forfeit the tournament. “You’re not the only one with ‘personal reasons’ to be partaking this tournament here. Would you rather if the Berserker goes on a rampage out here in the public? That would just inconvenient for both the marines and me.” He could only imagine of the consequences of forfeiting right now. It was true that the scythe-welder would likely follow his action, only to proceed to target him immediately regardless of the surrounding civilians. While it didn’t matter to the Berserker –already a criminal - if he got in trouble, it did matter to Pluto, who wanted no more enemies than he already has. The last thing he wanted at the moment was to be accused of mass-slaughter and have a bounty on his head. Having both the World Government and the Navy target the boy in addition to the organization from the Underworld while trying to protect his little sister would bring utter hell to his life. Thus, his first step to ease his own situation was to take out the Berserker once and for all. That would be one less than threat targeting his life.
“Following your train of logic, if you don’t want to fight me or him, then I don’t think you’d want to fight most of the other combatants either,” he informed her. While the other participants weren’t much of a threat, the same could not be said for Tsubaki. He didn’t know her exact reasons for joining, but it seemed she didn’t want to lose.
“Do you…,” he pondered, “even intend on winning then?” Her mentality of asking her opponents to just forfeit wasn’t befitted to that of someone who wanted to win to prove one’s self-worth.
Come to think of it, would my brother even hit this pretty girl? The simulation of the two of them fighting in Rebecca’s mind came down to answering this vital question. Pluto would most definitely hold back.
“Why don’t you want to fight him?” The little one asked politely. “Pluto wouldn’t hurt girl.”
“Yes, I would,” he said blatantly.
“No, you won’t!” She teased.
“What about Scarlette?” He had to fend off against that mentally unstable girl upon their first encounter back at Amino Island of North Blue.
“What about me?” Rebecca pointed out that she had never been harmed after hanging out with this long with him.
“Don’t just ignore my example! If my life is being threatened, I don’t care about such trivial matters,” he informed her.
“But what if your life wasn’t threaten?” she pointed at Tsubaki as the prime example.
“Uh…,” The raven-haired boy paused for a moment, unsure how to given a response.
