Tsubaki got quite far along the deck, almost to the middle and almost able to leave the ship. They had cleared a way and set up a structure for when the marines would have brought the treasure up. Yet, it seemed their plans had changed. Still, glancing down through the forest of raindrops, Tsubaki could see there were still quite a few marine soldiers. While some were occupied with freeing their comrades from what seemed to be a sticky, tarp-like material, there were still enough there to actually make a difference. What is that stuff, anyway? Tsubaki asked herself while staring at the weird goo on a fair share of other marine soldiers.
The brunette had stopped for a moment, trying to understand how it had actually happened. And more importantly, she tried to figure out if this weapon of sorts could be used again. Thunder roared again and she saw a shadow approaching her at the sudden flash of light that had appeared just before the sound. Feeling her heart skip a beat, the girl spun around, lifting up the newly acquired katana as a guard. In front of her was a pirate, swinging his cutlass at her furiously. Similar as before, she blocked the blow, yet soon gave under the weight intentionally. That way she was able to land a quite forceful blow to his forehead with the hilt of her katana, after spinning into her enemy. Soon came another one and she just kept avoiding them as much as she could. The girl didn’t stop anymore. She was constantly shifting her weight in order to get the upper hand, newer quite straightening her knees till the end and agreeing to true stability. It was a manner of fighting she had started to develop. Her movements were fluent. They reminded of a current of water. When faced with an obstacle, she just went around it. Then again, she was just a normal human. The girl got cut a couple times. Nothing too deep, yet her upper arm and waist were grazed. Along with cuts appearing on her hands now and again. She didn’t think she could take them all. However, since they numbers seemed to be plummeting, she might take a small amount. At times she forgot that most pirates focused on brute force and lacked the discipline for an actual art of fighting.
It was getting bad. Her initial plan was to let the other marines notice their fight. That is why she had gotten close to the age of their deck. She was right there, trying to keep her position, waiting to be noticed and waiting for an officer in charge to give the order. They had to go help them. She was sure they would. She just had to let them know she was there. While her marine uniform was being torn, she was still quite certain that she could be identified as one of the blue and whites.
It seemed her prayers had been answered, because she could certainly see something in a similar uniform run past her. Then another figure. The young woman was getting quite worn out. As mentioned before, she was not one of the stronger ones. Her talents lied in a keen eye and a sharp mind. Soon she could see more than a dozen marines climbing abroad, all trying to fend against the pirates.
For a moment she found no more strikes aimed her way and stopped to take a better look around. There was so much going on. She spotted Rui further along. He was together with Zep and the red head, All three going back to back in the middle of a bigger group of pirates. It looked like they had acquired weapons as well. Her hopes went with them. The hazel eyed soldier also noticed a few more marines heading to their aid so she believed they would be fine. Pluto! Where are you?
Soon, she spotted the raven-haired boy in a middle of a much bigger crowd. He was handcuffed still, yet the way he fought was purely mesmerizing. It almost seemed he was unstoppable. Somehow, he also seemed more frightening than before.
”Whoa!” The ship shook more furiously as a bigger wave crashed into the side of the vessel and Tsubaki stumbled back a little, taking hold of the deck’s railing. There had to be a way she could help the situation out. There had to be! Keys… someone has to have the keys. She desperately searched the deck with her gaze, trying to ignore the rain hitting in her face. Then, at the far end of the deck, at the front of the ship, stood their captain. He still wore his smirk. What was he pleased about now? Still in his raincoat with the suspicious hump on his back, he just watched the chaos unfolding before him.
He would probably have the keys. Or he would have a good idea where they were. Perhaps Tsubaki could do something about it. Gripping tighter on the hilt of her katana, the girl took off once again, running towards his location, trying to make as little physical contact as possible with the other pirates.
Soon, she closed the distance, having to squeeze through a couple of tough situations, but successful thanks to nearby marines most of the time. She was just a few feet away and could see the captain lifting up his hand to undo his raincoat. While a questionable choice in the conditions, she didn’t give it too much power over her. Indeed, his reasons did trouble her a little, but she still approached the man, trying to keep out of his sight as she did.
When getting close enough so she could most definitely hit him with a few needles, the girl quickly drew three in her free hand and launched them all at the tall, lanky man. He had been turning away at that moment so she figured she’d be sure to land at least two of them. While attacking someone while they couldn’t see you was not the best way, the situation called for it in her mind.
What…? Her eyes widened as she saw two of the needles bounce off from the odd hump on his back. However, one of them went past his face, grazing his ear and cheek. Quickly the man turned to glare at his enemy and his raincoat dropped. There was a huge gun on his back. It almost reminded a canon of some kind. The blonde four-eyed man gave her a terrifying cold glare, his smile finally retreating from his face and he quickly drew the huge firearm from his back. Holding it with both his arms, his tall, slender fingers on the trigger, he aimed it at Tsubaki. She was taken aback by the sight, yet still tried to dodge the blow. ’Who do you think you’re aiming at, you marine scum?!’ Black hissed, his eyes gleaming with hatred and he fired the gun. While on her way to dodge any bullet from it, or at least try to, she felt her whole being get pushed into the nearby railing quite hard. The pressure was big, but she did not feel like it was a bullet or a metal ball her body had encountered.
Opening her eyes, she realized her body was constricted. She couldn’t move. Most of her being was covered in black sludge and she was now literally stuck to the railing. Her gaze shot up to the captain again, who now was pointing a pistol at her, instead of the canon. His smile was returning to his face and he gave a loud, cheerful yet frightening laugh. ’Die!’
