Bubblegum, a giant pink Elephant who answers to no one. Here, in the Fighting Circus, she is the one calling the shots, directly below Matsuri Soudou.
Shotaro Morishi, a puny little boy who's secretly the heroic and justice-bound Captain Mask! Though even heroes like Cap have trouble when dealing with beasts with the brawn of 100 men, beasts like Bubblegum!
The two were locked in a large cage, one that was meant to keep Bubblegum from getting out. Today it served a different purpose, today it was meant to keep Shotaro in! He wouldn't rest until he was BFF's with this gargantuan land mammal.
Shotaro walked up to the elephant, her back was turned to the hero, and she appeared to fidgeting around with he trunk, toying with a small blue ball. The Fantastic Captain Mask walked around to face Bubblegum, but the peach toned pachyderm quickly averted her gaze from the hero. Shotaro's face became flushed with red. This elephant was his first battle with a Giant Monster. If only he had a giant robot. This would be easier. Even if he wasn't trying to fight her physically, this battle of wits and patience would prove to be Shotaro's toughest yet, since he was neither witty nor patient. If only he could become Captain Mask, this would be a cake walk. Cap was attentive, charming, patient, and clever.
Despite the fact that Shotaro was mentally flattering himself, he still had a job to do. He walked around to face Bubblegum for a second time, this time, however, he was met with a response. "Alright wise-girl, don't think you can just ignore me all day and think that my feelings wont be hurt, and they aren't!" Shotaro spoke, his tone ripe with anger. The hero crossed his arms over his chest. He was trying not to blush, but was failing pretty hard at it. The elephant took a good look at Shotaro, and placed her ball down and picked him up in her trunk. Shotaro, who was crossing his arms at the time, could barely struggle out of the elephants grasp, do to his arms being constrained. Bubblegum made a small noise, kind of like a burp, and tossed Shotaro to the front of the cage.
The hero landed on the wall and quickly plummeted a foot to the ground. Getting slightly worked up, he rolled up invisible sleeves and rushed up and grabbed onto Bubblegum's leg. Her skin was rough, but also felt slightly soft, as if she was a peach. "I ain't lettin' go until we're friends! Everyone on this island depends on it!" Shotaro bellowed. Bubblegum made a burping noise again and stomped her leg, rattling Shotaro and causing him to lose his grip. As he sat down behind the immense pink animal, the hero struggled to control his temper. This was absolutely humiliating. Shotaro took a few steps away from the elephant and sat down cross legged on the floor.
He was seething with anger. This elephant had pushed Shotaro to the limits of keeping his composure. But heroes don't get angry. Heroes keep their cool and find ways to solve any problem. The only person allowed to die is the Hero, and even then, they must never die. Shotaro began holding back a swell of tears. He didn't know what to do. If this Elephant didn't even want to attempt to befriend him, then everyone would be doomed. The hero covered his, try not to sob. Protecting people was his job, and if he couldn't even do that, then what good was he.
Shotaro slightly jumped as he felt a slight touch on his shoulder. Turning his head, he saw the enormous elephant Bubblegum standing behind him. She was comforting Shotaro with her trunk, stroking his hair and patting him. "What are you doing?" Shotaro spoke through tears, his voice sounded like that of someone who had been crying a lot. The elephant picked him up with her trunk and placed him on her back. "Huh...so i guess the secret to taming you is being a baby...you're just like a giant mom!" Shotaro spoke too quickly, as Bubblegum then bashed her trunk into the wall of her cage, busting a huge hole in it. As she walked out, the men and women nearby all ran off in fear.
And then, past all the running and screaming, came Mr. Soudou, who was eating a sandwich. "Wow...didn't think you'd break down that easily..." Soudou remarked as he took a bite from his sandwich, ham and cheese with mayo on rye. Good stuff. "What do you mean, break down?" Shotaro questioned Mr. Soudou, suddenly realizing how hungry he was after looking at that sandwich. "Well, the only way for Bubblegum to care about you at all is if she feels she's protecting you, judging by the puffy look in your eyes, you started crying, and she felt sympathetic." Soudou explained.
Shotaro jumped off of Bubblegum and stood face to face with Mr. Soudou. "So...this means you'll help me right?" Shotaro stuttered, trying not to sound smug. Soudou let out a chuckle and gave a slight nod of the head and then stomped his walking stick on the ground. "Bubblegum Please! Pack it Up!" Soudou shouted, and suddenly, Bubblegum grabbed Shotaro with her trunk, and tossed him back towards West Winchester, soaring through the air, face first like a true superhero.
"Am i gonna die?"
