Or perhaps Hayate's idea of fleeing while the weasel was stopped by the limb, at least hopefully, wasn't what Ken had in mind exactly. Rather, he had something completely different planned out. The actor watched as he let go of the animal's jaw with one hand and kept the other upon it. A wild grin on his face, his hand literally turned to stone. Now, Hayate had heard of the Devil Fruits before. Who hadn't?
Well, he was sure that there were some that hadn't but since he had been in the Marines he had been exposed to a lot of different things that were pretty unbelievable. So he wasn't exactly surprised at the revelation that Ken Izumi was a Devil Fruit user. That didn't mean that he didn't pretend to be, however. After all, this was an island in the middle of no where. Chances were the inhabitants hardly if ever had seen a person with such an ability before.
"Y... you can turn your body into s... stone?" questioned Hayate with a shaken voice even though he didn't expect an answer. At the moment, dealing with the giant weasel was a far more pressing matter than answering his dumb question. Just then, Ken rammed his fist, the same hand that was now stone, into the animal's mouth. Since the limb and his other hand were keeping the mouth upon, its teeth were completely exposed. The force of the blow was, amazingly, enough to literally shatter the sharp teeth that the weasel had. So much for him being threatening. After threatening to bust the weasel's skull and causing the animal to flee, Ken turned to "Hiroto" and told him that was the power of the Devil Fruit.
Hayate would have chuckled if he hadn't been in his role. Well, not that he was ever really comfortable with not acting in front of someone. The truth was that he wanted to find someone that could see through his guises. Too bad that hadn't happened yet. A shocked look still plastered on his face since that was how Hiroto would react, Hayate stumbled out the next few words in a rush. "A Devil Fruit? What's that? How did you... Your hand just turned into stone! How the heck is that even possible! It isn't...! Stay away!" Hayate stumbled backward, pretending to trip on something on the ground in his attempt to "flee." Really, he was only cementing the role he was playing. This was perfect. Now his character would be perfectly believable!
Striking the ground rump first, Hayate scooted backward some and then pulled out his weapon again, brandishing it in Ken's direction some just for dramatical effect, his eyes narrowed a bit. "Don't come near me!" His voice even cracked a little as it rose to a higher pitch. The fear was a perfectly believable one. If a person that lived on a secluded, maybe even nameless, island came upon a person with that inhuman abilitity, they would probably freak out even more than he was doing now.
(Haha, I just had to make it interesting. XD)
